1. I think it's a great thing to learn stuff you wouldn't normaly play, good luck with the gig
2. Sorry not trying to hijack the thread but lozz could you tell me what the flat setting is for the orange terror ? Sure I read something you said about it the other day but can't find it now ! ta
3. Love mk and Japan , been meaning to get some more on the pod for a while , Mmm can feel an iTunes shopping spree coming on!
4. Would love to get some , don't know of any in Cornwall though !
5. Yum
6. We used to do outdoor gigs in Spain and while the guitars and bass were left our they would be way out by kick off !
7. Just got thinking about melody and stuff and wondering if it helps to be able to sing in tune and hold a note and all that when it comes to playing bass well , I am crap at it tbh and trying to do backing vocals while playing live I really struggle with ! Any tips apart from don't sing ?

Slap effects advice

Cheers guys , helpful as ever
9. Don't really do effects apart from a big muff for a couple of numbers but our covers band seems to be introducing some numbers which I will be slapping on such as some rhcp songs , I will be using the jag through an orange terror 500 head , any advice on effects would be welcome and much apriciated
10. Really good catchy song and performance all round also love the name ! and think you have a great look too , yes I enjoyed it it reminded me a bit of placebo in places which for me is a good thing , sorry if it's not for you
11.
'underplaying' is fine - think of the space between beats as the time where the 'real' magic of the music is actually happening ... but inside your head/heart (and the heads/hearts of the listener). The silence between notes is where the music of the cosmos is given space to breath.
Now I know what to say to the guys if the band decide to do rush yyz in rehearsal !
12. A lot of the big old bands come down a key these days as they can't get as high as they used to when they were in there prime ! We only do it on paranoide which we do in d but it's such a simple song anyway that it makes no odds to me on this one , it's not my favourite thing to do though especially if it's a complicated bass line and I already play it in original key !
13. Hi Scott , I am going through your modes ATM and subscribed a while ago but can't seem to find the link where you talk about how to do the runs over the entire fretboard rather than just over one octave ? Chèvre at work btw , cheers Gav
14. This very thing happened to me at last nights gig , one of the guitarists was not only stood on it but had it wrapped around his foot , I was tempted to give it a good yank lol !
15. Well done fella , an inspiration to us all !
16. Can't help you I'm afraid but will second mr levins contributions to the bass world , he is a hero of mine for sure!
17. Cheers , yes I will get it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing , don't want to end up having to replace any of them
18.
Fixed... ...and best of luck with the gig..!
Lol I really should go back to using a grown up computer with my sausage fingers !
19. A p and a ripped speaker I think !
20. Fingers crossed for you and good on ya for having the balls to do it , I was one of the doughters as well !
21. A couple of block inlays are lifting on my jag , seems to be just one edge on both but enough to sound hollow underneath when I tap them , a bit like blown plaster on a wall I suppose , is it just a matter of lifting one edge with a craft knife and getting some wood glue under? Don't want to end up snapping them ! Or should I get it looked at by a luthier ? What you think ?

Pickup height
I originally thought that 'bass' meant E & A strings, and 'treble' meant D & G. But it specifies height for Precision and Jazz basses. Bearing in mind that bridge pick ups are usually closer to the strings, I now assume the 'treble' and 'bass' refers to individual pick ups. If I'm correct, the second edition should specify them as 'bridge' and 'neck'!
Yes this is what I was wondering if they were calling the neck pickup the bass side and bridge the treble ! Although it does say the larger the string more Clarence is needed above the magnet .
