1. My vote goes to the Sonic Research ST-200. True bypass, extremely accurate and bright enough to use outside. I hated my Boss TU2; -/+ 3 cents accuracy is too inaccurate for me, I'd have to fine tune my bass by ear afterwards as it wouldn't quite get me in tune.
2. I currently play in a blues trio who throw in the odd rock and pop cover as crowd pleasers. There's only one pedal I use throughout the set and that's my Xotic BB set to low gain. Just thickens the sound when our front man takes a solo. I use a compressor for some of the poppy stuff and also for if I need to jam with the drummer (emergency situations when our frontman snaps a string sorta thing). I also use a Darkglass B3K for the odd bass break. On the whole, I can do my regular gig with no pedals, save for a tuner. I take it as a compliment when musos have said to me "why do you bring a pedal board when you're not going to use it?" after I've used it all gig.
3. I never used to like Stingrays as I'd played a couple in a shop that both had sprouting frets and were setup horribly. However, every time I'd heard someone else play one I'd always lust after THAT sound. I'm always going to be a Precision-lover at heart but the 1999 Stingray I recently picked up from Higgie has made me a convert; the neck feels absolutely lovely, it's easy to play, the action is low as hell without buzzing and while it's different to my Ps and Rickenbacker it certainly holds its own in the mix in its own way. As it stands, here's my preference for basses: A really nice Precision. A decent Precision. A Stingray. A Rickenbacker. A Jazz.
4. Hi mate, To be honest if I'm going to trade it'd be a part ex for a Fender AV 57 or 62 P-bass. Cheers, Bob.
5. The only pic of the cab I have is an old one: It looks pretty much the same except for a few small scuffs on the tolex, a little dent on the grille and a fair bit of dust And yes, I would be willing to split.
6. Hi guys, up for sale/trade is my 2011 Mark Hoppus signature P-bass: It's a P-bass neck on an ash Jazz bass body in transparent surf green. It's an intriguing colour in that it seems to change its hue depending on the lighting in its vicinity (I tried to capture this in the pics) The bass is practically mint save for this one little bump on the edge of the fingerboard, E string side: Okay, so I made a few minor modifications here: First off, I changed the stock Seymour Duncan out for a Lindy Fralin and swapped the single volume knob for a stacked vol/tone with cloth wiring and an orange drop .47 cap. The bridge I changed for a deluxe American bridge and I swapped the signature neck plate for a Fender F-stamp. All of these mods are easily reversible. However, the only part I do not have is the original pickup... the original wiring, pot, neck plate etc will be included in the sale. The bass comes setup with a set of DR Sunbeams (45-105) but I can also string it up with some slightly worn-in Chromes. It also includes a tweed hard case. Considering that these are £592 online at the moment, and the mods/parts with it, I would be comfortable to let it go for £500, posted. I'm open to offers and trades but ideally I'd like cash. Cheers, Bob.
7. Hi guys, up for sale/trade is my Fender/Warmoth Fenderbird. The neck is from a MIJ 62 Precision bass (1998 IIRC?) and it's from my first bass actually. The body is from Warmoth in America and it's a cocobolo top on mahogany with a black pinstripe layer between. The knobs are cocobolo, the pickups are Nordstrands, the bridge is a Schaller and it's currently setup with a set of Chromes. I also upgraded the machineheads to Hipshots. This bass was assembled last year. A hint of flame on the back of the neck: The headstock has a few minor scuffs on it which is somewhat expected as it's seen a fair bit of play time. The body has a little chip in the finish near the strap lock but it's barely noticeable. I'm aware that Thunderbirds are typically prone to neck dive but there is none to be found on this bass (possibly due to the strap button positions). The pickups were only recently changed and my tech also fully shielded the cavities while he was at it. As such, I'd be willing to throw in a set of EMG PJX pickups that were once in it (aggressive but a little clinical sounding for my tastes). It also comes with a snug-fitting gig bag. Anyway, down to business. I'm after £500 for this posted. I'm open to offers/trades but I'm mainly after cash for this. Cheers, Bob.

If we should ever meet, I'm buying you a pint
9. Here's the Teal Stingray that I recently bought from Higgie: I changed the black pearl pickguard to abalone today but I'm not sure I'm feeling it. What do you guys reckon?

I knew I should've read this part of the forum some more, I just started a thread on this auction: http://www.ebay.co.u...3#ht_500wt_1361 I guess any mods reading should feel welcome to delete my thread MB1. I heard that!........................................Pardon?
Woops! Sorry, I meant to link to my thread instead of the link.
11. Martin's a lovely bloke to deal with; he bought my PJ fretless from me, paid promptly and had great comms throughout. I'd happily do business with him again
12. I just received a Stingray from James after we did a part-exchange deal. Communication was plentiful, the bass arrived promptly and to top it all off, James is an absolute gentleman to deal with! Thanks again mate, rest assured the bass has gone to a good home

14. Hi guys, I'm not one of John Hall's goons but I thought I'd bring an auction to attention: http://www.ebay.co.u...3#ht_500wt_1361 He's selling what appears to be a Japanese Rickenfaker as the real deal but you can see clearly from the bridge saddles and neck pickup it's not a Rickenbacker. Just wanted to give you guys a warning as I wouldn't want an innocent buyer being ripped off. EDIT: It's already been mentioned in this thread - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/172463-one-for-the-brave-amongst-you/
15. Jez bought a pedal from me recently. Top bloke! Paid quickly, had great comms throughout. I would definitely do business with him again

17.
Love it ! Very imaginative. Would like to see the reaction to it on the Musicman forum............light the fuse paper and stand well back methinks.
I thought this too and then I thought about how much it would wind up the Rickenbacker forum. You could quite easily troll two of the most fiercely proud bass forums in the world and potentially be avoiding daily lawsuits and hit squads sent by Sterling Ball and John Hall.
18. Cheers Higgie, I've a feeling its new owner is going to be pleased I think I undervalued it more than I initially thought but I'm a man of my word... I'd rather know the instrument is fulfilling its purpose and being loved instead of making as much off the sale as I can.
