1. Ah, all systems are malfunctioning perfectly in Dingusworld then!! Splendid! Carry on......!!
2. What!!! Oliver Cheatham is married to Vanessa Feltz....that is WAY TOO funky for me!!
3. Another fave from the past here.....Get Down Saturday Night all you groovers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2UZ7BGRkE4
4. Hi I have a very nice 12" guitar speaker for sale. I do not know who made it, when or where; but I can tell you it is a high spec speaker and sounds great. It has a cast aluminium frame and a very heavy magnet. I suspect it is an alnico magnet, because of the sweet tonal characteristics, warm detailed breakup and the apparent dimensions of the magnet - it looks like it may be taller than most ceramic magnets. It can handle 50w comfortably and it starts to break up nicely around 35w, I reckon. It is an 8ohm speaker. The cone is paper with no ribs and the dust cap is paper too. The speaker is in excellent condition and is a great value buy for anyone after classic guitar tones of the 70s. £20 cash on collection from Nottingham preferred; but shipping and electronic bank transfer could be arranged at your cost.
5. Finally got the work done on the early Korean Peerless Epi Dot....swapped pups for covered Seymour Duncan 59s and JB and swapped the wiring, pots, switch, tuners, bridge, etc for USA spec in nickel to match the pup covers. Got the pups tapped and the plastic nut swapped for bone too, plus a fret-hone and set up. It now plays and sounds SO much better than stock hardware that comes on those Epi Dots. So far I really like these pups; they can roll-off to be mellow or be dimed to drive an amp with just the right amount of heat. I particularly like that (when tapped) the pups sound just as tonefull and strong in single coil mode, like they were always meant to be single coil. Whereas some tapped humbuckers just sound to me like weak versions of the untapped tone. There seems to be much less difference in volume between tapped and untapped too, which makes them much easier to live with. Haven't gigged with it at full volume yet though. That will be the ultimate test. Still wish I had another with P90s though!....GAS again!!
6. Two very nice compressors are the Keeley 4-knob and the HBE CPR Both very similar and based on the classic Ross design. Both do exactly what all tone-hounds want without getting in the way. I marginally prefer the tone and control options of the Keeley, plus it has smaller footprint; but the signal comes through the HBE slightly cleaner. There is a smaller HBE CPR without the Attack control too; but I like that control too much to be without it.
7. I love Sly Stone.....nobody did it better!
8.
.
nice dot!....any more thoughts?
9.
I do hope guitarists read this
Always found it easy to get bass tone in minutes with trusty Bassman 135 head and assorted cabs. Now playing guitar and while I basically stick with same approach of a simple Fender-type valve amp, I am finding getting good guitar tone a fair bit harder to do. This may be because of need for different gain settings and need to place sound in different parts of band mix....not sure; but maybe we should cut guitarists some slack re getting right level, tone, gain, etc
10. i thought Peterbuilt made trucks in USA........No?
11.
Hhaha! They are a bit beyond my needs...as much as it would be cool to own, I don't even listen to DT but massive respect to them as monster players. The Majesty is beautiful but the Albert Lee has that retro thing going on which is more my taste. My guitar talent would be wasted on a Majesty! I'd do it no justice.
I saw Albert Lee live the other day at a village hall near Mansfield, Notts. He was on fire and playing his MusicMan through a Fender Tone Master amp....wow, what a sound and what a great player and singer too.
12.
Have you thought about the Musicman Axis Supersport? Tele-ish shape... I bought one from Dubjunkie here on Basschat when I was after a tele... wish I still had it.
I bought my Tele-ish guitar from DubJunkie too - he has great taste! Mine is a G&L Asat Special and thankfully I still own it and am unlikely ever to part with it. USA G&L guitars and basses are among the very best IMO.
13. OK, I get the picture bump.......It must be the price, then.....so reduced to £60 collected or post at your cost
14. So do you find that it is the bass player in the band who usually organises everything?
15.
I've got an excel spreadsheet shared in Dropbox. Again, it works perfectly if everyone uses it.
+1 to this; but I don't bother even asking the band to fill it in. I just insist they tell me their non-available dates in anyway they like as soon as they know them and then I fill in the spreadsheet. All dates not marked as not available are then fair game for band activities. And everyone has to pay share of studios etc whether they show or not; they soon get used to the system and everything starts to run smooth. I also use Dropbox to deposit other band resources, such as chord charts, photos, mp3s, set lists, etc
16. i recently sold my '70s Fender 2x15 Bassman cab to a guitarist. He's sticking his 70s Fender 2x12 Twin on top of it.......that thing must be able to tear your face off!! He says it is v sweet, clear and full with big rich bass tones for his guitar. His band doesn't use a bass player.

18. The Mooer Blue Comp is a very nice optical compressor that is essentially a clone of the rare Boss CS-1 Compressor/Sustainer - but in miniaturised form! Very effective compression with an Attack control as well as a switchable treble mode. True bypass. Excellent condition, home use only. Here is Guitarist magazine's review: £35 posted in UK or £32.50 collected in Nottingham. 'The Mooer name is new on the scene, and offers a range of Chinese-made, (relatively) inexpensive pedals. They're solidly built, with a thick metal casing, but also micro-sized - ideal for smaller 'boards. Many are obviously 'inspired' by old favourites, and this Blue Comp apes features from the Boss compressor. Sounds: Like the Boss CS-1,the pedal has two modes. Treble mode is intended to emphasise the sustain of the treble sound, but realistically it makes the whole sound brighter - no bad thing if you want to kick it in for effect. With the Attack control offering useful tailoring of the 'nose' of each note, the Blue Comp is fully capable of dishing up some very effective compression. Guitarist Rating 4.5 / 5 stars Pros Compact size. Two modes for different sounds. Effective attack control. Cons Nothing. Verdict The Blue Comp pedal provides versatile compression in a tiny footprint.'
19.
this is something very special from Shuya Okino. this is very cool also. when she starts singing. just WOW. groove central. http ://www.youtube....h?v=tyCWKP-MnX8
Badass!
20. of course, seeing as we're all jazzfunkateers at heart, maybe we should give a shout out to James Mason too and for any of the tracks on the Rhythm of Life LP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE9__9pzr4Q
