1.
Have you seen this one? Stunning...
METAAAAAAL!
2. I see you're in Newcastle, did you get that bass from Dolphin Music at the Metro Centre, perchance?
3.
some of our american friends might say this is bordering on hipster douchebaggery but i think counting crows made a nice cover of this in comparison the plethora of (imho) lame covers of this out there (this has to rank high in the top ten most covered songs )
That has to be one of the most awful covers. No energy, just the most lazy, cynical cash in ever by a bunch of talentless hacks. The best cover of the song is, frankly, by Joni herself from the Shine album. When this record came out I worked in a hotel and some guests had the record as the soundtrack for their wedding. Absolutely blew me away, one of the best days I ever worked there. In fact, I much prefer this cover to the original as it has so many layers of sound and such a bouncy feel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRN6J16qVVM&feature=related
4.
Maybe that's because P players just aren't 'boutique' people?
Yes, you could say they expect less of their bass therefore have no need to obtain a 'high end' version of it.
5. This one is stunning. Far better than the original, it has such pace and energy and some amazing bass playing (including a solo!). My favourite FGTH tune. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMfE2Se4r9w
6. The only word I can use to describe the sound of my Ltd Edition Streamer is 'superb'. Wonderful midrange.
7. Leduc have always made some of the coolest basses. It is a shame we don't see more of them in the UK!
8.
......yet my perception (and I accept I may be wrong about this) is that it's never been quite as popular as the Precision and like for like seems to fetch a bit less on the market. Ian
If anything, I think the Jazz has been a bit more successful. It moved the game on considerably from the P bass and really kickstarted modern bass design. For a true appreciation of the jazz bass principle, just look at all the super-jazz basses made today. There is nowhere near the same demand for boutique P basses.
9. Very nice, but I like the Ibanez 6 string next to it more!
10. Case of 'London buses', I'm in talks over another bass to replace my Streamer which is leaving this week. Had I not been engaged to spend that cash already, I would have had this straight away!
11. Who is this bloke? He can barely speak!
12. Lovely looking bass!
13.
This has just come up on ebay. May solve your problem. http://www.ebay.co.u...f8#ht_500wt_964
I've seen their basses before, the prices are massively inflated. I'd sooner buy from the US and pay all the import duties - it would still be cheaper no doubt!
14. The way I figure it, our humble country could do with more Alembics and I have been looking at these and thinking of my old Epic for a while now...
15. you have pm!
16. Must see pics
17.
I don't mean to look ignorant but I don't know which is which not being clued up on Dean basses? thanks.
Just as an aside, didn't I used to have the 'Live forever, die Alone' pic as my avatar on here? I still have the original pic from when I made the image on memegenerator saved to my desktop!
18. Wish I could have seen them, they are a stunning rhythm section.
19. I have been dreaming of getting another Alembic at some point. The USA is well stocked with 'cheaper' Alembics. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-ALEMBIC-EPIC-4-STRING-BASS-GUITAR-USA-WITH-SOFT-HARD-CASE-/380455879246?pt=Guitar&hash=item5894f0024e Something like this, for instance. How much would it cost me to ship this to the UK, paying import duty and whatever else UK customs will levy on it? Advice from the shipping gurus appreciated...
20.
Just place your offer...im not looking for somting special!
IIRC you are still required to state a trade value to let people know what you're after.
21. Looks nice. How bad are the issues? Big issues?
22.

Daft pose, thin hair, lives in his mother's basement...great model!
23. Yes, so I discovered after finding the track shortly after posting this. My favourite solo would be the drum solo, though the hokey Chinese accent at the start is all a bit Love Thy Neighbour.
