1. Email sent, lets see what happens...
2. I used to have a Status Matrix bass that wasn't disimmilar to this (though a set neck). Cracking bass, wish I still had it.
3. Perhaps the nicest bass ever sold here!
4. I have always loved Warwick. In the past I had a Thumb BO that was lovely, but then I got this Ltd Edition Streamer from 1990... Truely, one of the best basses I have ever played. Absolutely stunning in every respect. One day I may enquire at the Warwick forums to try and find out more about it.
5.
I thought the lyrics on the first album were the most godawful mawkish Moon/June crap I've ever heard. Didn't bother with any other stuff as a result.
Yes, aside from There's a Spy (In The House Of Love) the lyrics are either dodgy or dreary. But the fantastic playing, intelligent instrumentation and marvellous production make it more than worthwhile. Copeland was also on Stanley's Night School DVD which is also very good. He is a great drummer, he just never got a chance to shine with Sting around
6. That is a hell of a price, no doubt dictated by Copeland - I doubt Stan can pull that much for a ticket! Should be an awesome show though, both great musicians (when piss poor Police songs are avoided). If you are a fan of them, check out the Animal Logic records, they are fantastic. Great, intelligent pop music that should appeal to musicians.
7. Usually take a seat on the left hand side of the stage, close to my amp and the drummer.
8.
Cheers Luke, you never know bud.Very kind of you to offer bud. In terms of tone then which I guess is why I'm drawn to that video, well that and Susan Tedeschi (who can do no wrong for me) I should be looking out for a Thumb then ??
They are definitely the most devisive of Warwick basses, I have found! I absolutely love them, some people hate them and a lot of people love the sound but don't like the ergonomics of them. The Thumb body is very small (especially on the NT models) which can exaggerate the length to the first position. Because the bridge sits over your body (as opposed to being offset of your torso like a jazz bass), the neck can feel further away. A lot of people say they are neck-divey too, though I always wore my Thumb high so I never had a problem with the balance. They can also feel quite heavy, because of the bubinga, ovangkol or more rarely, walnut bodies. Sound wise, I used to think they sounded like nothing else. They still do, though interestingly, compared to my all maple, Bartolini equipped Ltd Edition Streamer, they are not as 'distinct' as I used to imagine. Classic Warwick low mid growl, they both do that in buckets though the Thumb I find a little peakier in the mid section, the Streamer a little more even overall. As for the Corvette FNA, I have never played a Corvette I really liked.
9. No mention of Hank Marvin? They are right about the use of an opening low pass filter in house/dance music from the 1990's. Seemed like every song in the late 90's/early 00's had a 'through the tunnel' moment!
10. Stunning, and very rare in Europe!
11. Well I am sad to say I have neither the cash or aught to trade for this right now as I find it captivating!
12. No doubt a stunning bass. My Ltd Edition 1990 Streamer continues to redefine my expections of a fretted bass. It is just superb. I have no doubt this will be similarly excellent!
13. The only thing I am noticing is that there is a lot of unwound string at the bridge end, which brand are they?
14. Absolutely awesome. You'll love the ACG, but I doubt you'll ever forget this beauty. As a former Zoot and ACG owner, I approve!
15. What a joker.
16. My Fender Jaco bass. Absolutely superb. Never thought I would be so captivated by a Jazz!
17. do tell!
18. That song (and Master of Puppets) always struck me as one of Primus' finest moments.
19. The holy grail of Wal basses!
20. The holy grail of Warwick Thumbs...
21. Top quality bass this. Such a shame Schack seem to have shut down completely, never mind stop making their lovely carbon necked instruments. Clover used to make a similar bass too.
22.
Dream Theater's Score DVD with that orchestra was effin' amazing though!
Dream Theater - automatic disqualification! Steve Vai did a thing with an orchestra. But then his live shows always sound amazing and are small scale affairs. More pertinent might be the question of what the orchestra brings to the mix. I have never listened to a Rush song and thought it would be better with an orchestra sawing away for backing. Mind you, some songs on Counterparts and Test For Echo would have me reaching for the 'off' button.
23.
you should learn to use both in my opinion... it is never a bad thing to be good at lots of different styles of plucking! anyone who says real bass player don't use a pick direct them to the nearest video of Anthony Jackson
The whole of this Simon Phillips session is great. Anthony at his absolute best, though this is my favourite tune... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb8k53ZzJbc
24.
Although I'm starting to dig the new CD, rumours that they're touring with an orchestra are gathering pace, which is making me kind-of glad I'm giving it a miss this time around...
That sounds sh*te. I recall the one gig where an orchestra worked (Metallica, S&M). And even then, it would have been a better show without it, and it was a one off event in a venue designed for the acoustic perfection an orchestra needs. Can you imagine how bad a mix of orchestra and rock band would sound in one of the enormodomes that Rush tend to play these days?
