  1. Well yeh, you get paid low income and the only training is on using a till. Their job is to make a sale, expert or not.
  2. Easy way to wind up my dad is to tell him the Beatles were just a sixties One Direction.
  3. Or that horrible Facebook recommendations page where there’s a man with his Willy out in a mirrored kettle
  4. Everyone starts somewhere
  5. I think a trip to Bass Direct is the best advice. Quality on any Fender is a lottery so make sure you try before buying.
  6. The essence range is made of the Far East so they’re a bit expensive compared to a Sire V7. They seem to be more popular in US than here, I’ve seen quite a few over on TB.
  7. Bravo
  8. I read quite a lot of reviews when I got Fralin P pickups put in my P bass. The only place that stocked them in the Uk then was Chandler’s Experience in Kew. This was over 10 years ago and the thought of changing them has never crossed my mind.
  9. I tend to agree. I think in this case the black hardware will make it more desirable but not necessarily increase the value.
  10. Its down to taste but the neck was bowed and the action high, it had a rough finish and the ergonomics didn’t work. The sound didn’t have any character either, complete opposite experience of the J relic which only has a photo here (the natural one) http://dubreuille-guitar.com/bass.html
  11. Played a reliced J type on Denmark Street and it was stunning - should have bought it. Then played the above bass and it was a dog.
  12. Idiots spending too much time “learning music”. The silly old man
  13. Don’t sell the thumb. I had to 9 years ago when I needed money but would now have to pay £1k more than I sold it for to replace it
  14. Bass direct recently had one at £1249 exl VAT. So s/h your probably looking at £800-£1k depending on condition. https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Warwick_Corvette_6_Natural.html
  15. I’ve got a Squier VMJ which really isn’t that great, and had an 80’s MIJ Tokai which again wasn’t great (couldn’t cut through any mix). However, I have also had a Sire V7 and would 100% have one again.
  16. Didn’t think Sire pickups were ever described as noiseless, mine was fairly noisy
  17. Anyone else check the classifieds to see what they’d missed and then quickly realise there is obviously nothing new?
  18. If it was me, I’d get a limelight so I had the colour/ relicing to my taste and then swap the pickups for some Lindy Fralin (I use these in my Fender P).
  19. It could have been an NYC Sadowsky and I think I still would have traded it for something else. You can’t buy the time spent experimenting and experiencing what’s available.
  20. Your hands make up a significant part of your sound. Rather than using EQ it’s better to try different hand positions, and different pressures on the strings first. Then when you’re close to what you want to achieve, use EQ to make small tweaks.
  21. Yes please do a vid of you get time
  22. “ Lots of people get GAS and end up with about 200 basses, most being bought because they liked the colour that day or they had a crap day at the office and wanted something to cheer them up.” I hope to get here on day
  23. Mine was a beaut. Jim deacon jazz in dark trans blue with gold hardware. Unfortunately after 3 months I decided it was for old farts and sold it for an Epiphone Thunderbird which was horrendous to play but looked way cooler.
  24. That’s just Fender in general. Some come out good, some not so.
  25. I think as long as it looks like it should and the serial number matches online/ with the manufacturer’s records then the risk is pretty low. I think you’ll find most on here only really deal with s/h instruments. Searching the basschat feedback is also a good idea before making a purchase.
