  1. Any reason why Sire isn’t involved?
  2. Night train by Oscar Peterson is a great jazz record. For learning walking basslines, I usually end up transcribing a few choruses of jazz standards so I have the chords from the real book.
  3. Ray Brown and Ron Carter are where I’ve started. Ron’s book is very good as is Joe Hubbards.
  4. No!! This is absolutely gorgeous in this colour combo. If I had the money I would have bought it when it was for sale
  5. I initially thought sonic blue which sometimes can look turquoise.
  6. I like Coldplay. Are the melodies simple, yes but so what? That’s pop music and it’s easy to listen to. Also looking forward to seeing one of their shows next summer with the wife. Turn back to Absolute Radio 80s grandads 😂
  7. I imagine with it being Christmas that demand for couriers is high and supply is relatively lower. Maybe wait until January if you can
  8. My MIM precision has a B width neck which is perfect for me. It was a 60th anniversary addition so might not have been standard.
  9. In: Some strings Out: 2020 strings Expecting the same for 2022
  10. My only issue with Bass direct is that they have a constant flow of lovely instruments and if you happen to try one of those instruments and don’t go through with the sale for whatever reason, you spend a lot of time you should be practicing wishing you had bought said instrument. It’s a torturous hell.
  11. Great story
  12. I did apply to be an on hold composer for a company in Manchester. Don’t know what the requirements are because I didn’t get a response.
  13. Where do you find all these basses? That’s the best looking Toby Pro I’ve ever seen. Never tried one because I didn’t like the name.
  14. I was thinking more about off the shelf pickups.
  15. Obviously it’s hard to put into words and subjective, but I would define it as very warm and honky evenly across the neck. It’s a sound I’ve heard from Fender Ps and Js from the 60s and 70s period that disappeared in the 80s versions and from there on. I don’t hear the same sound from other manufacturers of that era either.
  16. Possibly something that has been done in a previous bass bash? I’ve yet to play a vintage fender with replacement pickups. I suspect no one would do it, but it’d be interesting to hear the same vintage Fender first with original pickups and then with repro pickups. Would its sound maintain the vintage characteristics?
  17. 100% yes. I’m yet to hear a modern bass that recreates the tone well enough and I’ve tried.
  18. My lottery win bass fund will be so substantial that I will need to also budget for a separate house to store them. Is that too many?
  19. When you start forgetting what you own. Someone on here found an Alembic Stanley Clarke while clearing out their wardrobe.
  20. Cannot wait until I finally get my mitts on a KS. This one’s particularly good looking
  21. I assume my OBBM cables will never fail. It’s been 8-9 years so far without fault.
  22. My third bass was a Fender P bass and I still have it. Ten or so basses have come and gone since but this P has stuck. It doesn’t cover everything but if I was gigging it’s all I’d use.
  23. I played a Dokata Red CS jazz once that was loverly. It felt superb but wasn’t quite the true 60s tone of an original
  24. There’s several sites mentioned in this thread. Wunjo currently have a ‘75 P bass in stock just under £3k.
  25. Is it not just a US deluxe with LEDs?
