  1. Is the “b” button on your keyboard broke? 😬
  2. At twice the price, you’d hope so. They’re US Fender money!
  3. Fodera money then too 😂
  4. Really love listening to this album. Always thought about transcribing some of it but nervous it will ruin the joy of simply listening.
  5. Trying lots of instruments is part of the journey. I’ve played much better basses than mine in shops but have often chosen to spend the money on “life essentials” instead. Luckily at 30 I have two basses I will never shift but there’s room for more.
  6. This is best of the bunch for me. Just exquisite
  7. Saw this on FB and was jealous. Would love an OW 5 again
  8. I had Kent Armstrong pickups in an Overwater and they filled every room
  9. If you want old school Lindy Fralin are the one. If you want something more modern sounding maybe try Aguilar? Barts have always sounded quite hifi to me but I’ve only ever played them through active preamps
  10. No you’re right. Andy Baxter is a great resource for pics on vintage fender basses and has had a few ‘74 Mustangs. https://www.andybaxterbass.com/products/1974-fender-mustang-bass-sunburst
  11. Me on my way to La Bella after hearing that. What a tone!
  12. Every little helps
  13. I know what you mean about the honky sound but to get around that I have little volume on the neck PU and roll off the tone to about 20%. Maple board and stainless steel strings also help.
  14. Ok, well here's something dead quick and the strings have now been worn out - but I still think it has that nasal snap on the top end that I would usually characterise with Marcus and 70's jazz bass. Obviously bottom end is lacking because its a Squier VMJ with naff PUs. Would be interested to hear any slap examples you think are obviously 70's spacing that differ a lot from this. https://soundcloud.com/user-220370308/squier-vmj-quick-slap-riff/s-pxqpeCyd4Lx
  15. I have a Squier VMJ and while it’s a terrible bass guitar it does the Marcus Miller slap sound very well, but with 60’s spacing. I believe the pickup placement has more of an effect when players rest their thumb on the pickup. I think the original Sire V7 had 60s positioning and the one I had also had a great MM tone.
  16. Strokes? I wouldn’t pass it at higher than a tickle 😂
  17. I liked the stingray best. What would be interesting is how different they’d all sound if someone else was playing them because you seem to have a very soft touch ped. I know that if I played the same stingray with the setup I like it wouldn’t be the same.
  18. Not the longevo unfortunately As UK distributors I would expect them to know where has them in stock though. I prefer the sound and feel of these to the Elixirs so hoping I can still get them for a reasonable price.
  19. @MSL Prowhere can we buy these from? Did a google search and they don’t seem to be available at UK stockists?
  20. Mine have started to sound quite dull but no flaking. Just checked and it’s been a year since I put them on!
  21. Did you compare it to a German/ Japan model? If you like the tone it might be worth paying that bit extra to avoid the faults.
  22. Well you can’t sell that. Just look at it!
  23. True. I went from 5 basses and an upright to just a P bass when I moved to London. 1) because of space and 2) to pay for deposits on flats.
  24. If you’re a P bass fan and love the way the Limelight sounds. Why not commission a Limelight PJ and sell the jazz basses. That way you can have one P with flats and one with roundwounds.
  25. I had to get the truss rod replaced in the Warwick I had. I think it’s fairly common fault in 2000-2010 German Warwick’s.
