    Wow I can’t believe that’s the price! I’ve never had a quote for a Shuker build but always thought they were a lot less than that. Knowing that I like Overwater the new hollow body shape they have would be my choice, all be it a thousand or so more expensive than the Shuker.

    Personally prefer the look of the Shuker @Bridgehouse has which is similar and probably cheaper

    Always had them slanted because that’s how it came both out the box and when I had the pickups replaced. My guess is that’s what helps boost the mids

    All your knowledge of preferences may go out the window with a 5 string. That B string offers a lot of considerations and there are plenty of specifications out there claiming to have the best B string. Neck, scale length, neck thru, active electronics, fanned frets ect.

    The sire is just an excellent bass for the money; easy ergonomically where other five strings can be challenging and easy to sell without a big loss if you don’t like it.

    I had a 5 string version from the same era. Very good bass for the money but sold it on too quick when I got something else.

    If you can afford it, you can decide what to do with it.

    There are loads of sadowskys around but not many Fender VB so you’d struggle to get another if the Sadowsky wasn’t what you thought. I’d wait until you can afford both or at least get to try the Sadwosky before deciding. Those VB were very different to your average Jazz bass and I’ve always been keen to try one.

    Started using the MB strings after the discount trial on here. Currently have their steels on the jazz which are good value for money on bass direct

    I’ve found that the more expensive basses I’ve owned have been very clear whereas the squire and Fender not so much. It’ll be interesting if that’s purely down to setup though, I must admit I’ve never particularly been bothered about intonation being spot on in the dusty end.

    Yes a Ken Smith in Bass Direct. I think this was back in 2018 so we’re nearing a 4 year chase with many years ahead. Might end up breaking a BC chase record unless I get a helping hand from the national lottery.

    If you sell this bass then that gives you 400 bookcases and 16 years 😂 not including inflation

    These were in the Fender catalogue around 2006/7.

    Guessing you’re using the tips of you picking fingers? You just need to persevere. I used to use nickel strings which tend to be softer touch but now much prefer the harder feel of the steels

    £150 would buy approx 5 sets of strings. Experimenting with them would be more fun for me than a new pre amp

    Once had a new truss rod fitted on a neck thru Warwick which they did an excellent job with. They’ve also done a fret dress on a P bass that transformed the instrument. It’s worth taking back in and pointing out what you believe to be wrong to get their opinion.
