  1. Hope you get back on your feet soon
  2. Great new bass but I would be furious at being let down for a bass after spending that on flights! Hope it wasn’t a basschatter!
  3. If you’re matching drinks, a glass of champagne and a shot of black jaegermeister would complete the look
  4. From what I remember they were used in the 60s to earn double fee on sessions. Is that what you’re doing? If not I think you can save yourself the torture 😆
  5. I got my P bass at 16. It’s the only one of two basses that have stuck around.
  6. I know, sorry I remembered it as pet academy’s thread!
  7. There was a list of funk tracks created by a former BC member. Worth searching for as it is a very long list!
  8. The worry is, if they had two bodies and two necks creating one fantastic bass and one dog, which one is it….
  9. The old double basses certainly are!
  10. What if you already have a bag but you’re buying a new one because it has extra pockets, a fancy lining or it’s a leather harvest gig bag! I think that should count as a fail, but then again I think the same should apply for straps. Maybe there needs to be a god tier?
  11. Blimey some of you were learning tricky stuff to start! Mine was smoke on the water Deep Purple, as played by most teenagers in music stores 😂
  12. Sadly didn’t get to meet Nick, but I recognise him and his many basses either from here or bass magazine. It’s clear from the outpouring on here and FB that he was at the heart of the big bass community in the UK. Thoughts go out to those closest to him.
  13. Since we’re sharing snaps! Passive bass of doom-esq J4
  14. I’ve not played an active custom shop but the relic stuff isn’t.
  15. When I bought mine it was only a couple hundred more than the Fender artist range! So I was always going to opt for something hand made to my spec in the UK! Plus you can guarantee it will sound great with an Overwater, unlike Fender, even custom shop!
  16. I think it’s more a question of how do these people have the money in the first place! Monaco is really struggling to develop sufficient infrastructure for the demand, but yes obviously a global approach is required across the west.
  17. If loyalty points are okay I can’t see how trading children or pets would be a fail.
  18. You can’t sight read tab though if there’s no rhythm markings!
  19. I would actually prefer a decent refinish to a knackered body finish. But the biggest turn off for me is dents/ scratches to the neck that you feel while playing.
  20. That’s still probably more than what was paid for it new. As with everything the prices have shot up recently. Luckily bass bros tend to be more reasonable with their prices, I guess to shift items quickly.
  21. I’m sure you know what was meant. There were so many produced and many modified to different degrees, making it very tricky to pick up on all the anomalies. It’s not like cars where everything (baring scrapes and small accidents) is normally documented and therefore traceable.
  22. Short scale in general are in vogue and this way players can have the usability and vintage Fender sound in one. @ped’s sounds ace even if modified! This topic only became a problem when the replies were aggressive. Otherwise it’s a good discussion to have on Fender basses golden era.
  23. Not sure why this needed a separate thread to the vintage fender one, but no it doesn’t appear that any records were kept and therefore everything is a best guess approach.
