It’s a top notch design made in small numbers to a very high standard. Of course the name increases demand, that’s the point of having the license.

Haha love that idea! Unfortunately it won’t be me….. or will it 🤔🤣

Cash can also expire if not used 😂 if you win a bass in a competition you’ve bought a ticket to or had to do something in exchange for a chance (SBL or bassbro competitions) then that’s still a purchase, just like using loyalty points. But if anyone wants to half arse the challenge then it’s no skin off my nose.

NGD — but the gigbag is a bit whiffy

I was going to suggest garage or shed but it might get a damp smell instead! Depends which is worse I guess 😂 -
Orchestra bass tabs. Bit confused here...
Mrbigstuff replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
So what he has sent you is correct for what you will perform then? Being a different key to an original track is common in many covers gigs depending on instruments or vocal ranges. -
How would I in the UK, know about your repair shop or memoire? Not seen your ads either, do you sell as many as those UK retailers mentioned?

Orchestra bass tabs. Bit confused here...

If I was given the music you had, I wouldn’t detune at all. Could be that the arrangement you’re playing is in a different key to the original. Or the arranger has royally cocked up… -

All looks to be standard tuning to me. just follow the tab and you’ll be fine. -
Simply put, there is evidence of them taking apart many instruments and building knowledge, whereas we have to take your word for it. Not that your input on here isn’t appreciated, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be challenged. In regards to meeting someone qualifying them as the only source of truth… people’s anecdotes of their past isn’t always accurate.

That guy is such a good musician! Hopefully they have a really good design idea because I think Jones’ craftsmanship deserves something aesthetically pleasing.

I went a month without playing electric guitar and absolutely sucked at it! Slowly getting back a bit but only play it once or twice a week so not putting too much pressure on it.

There was a red 5 at the bass gallery recently for £1500 which I think is about right. Unfortunately I couldn’t justify it!

Practice costs nothing 😉

Yes I remember hearing that at the time people thought the 60s fender finish was poor quality and cracked or wore too quickly, hence why in the latter years of the 70s the coating was so thick. But then rather than wear it just chipped which is far worse IMO.

Were they given, or were purchases made from this retailer prior in order to build points and purchase other items using those points? That would be purposeful and therefore not a gift. For example if I use a credit card provider in order to build points to swap for air miles, I wouldn’t consider that a gift. I’ve purposefully made those purchases with that card to get the reward.

Interesting strategy calling loyalty points a gift. I would argue they’re a form of payment and go against the ethos of the challenge.

Maybe it’s because my evening plans were ruined by car failure but I am shocked that you would encourage each other into buying cables that aren’t replacing broken cables or removing liability where a salesman encourages a purchase! No wonder you’re all in this group 😂

The neck pocket is completely painted, is that common for this era? I’m used to seeing the bare wood mark where it was held by a stick/rod.

I can’t believe it’s gone off topic before anyone has mentioned the mastermind behind Letts bass…..qualified luthier or not? 😂

Who are the top session bassists in London?
Mrbigstuff replied to Vanheusen77's topic in General Discussion
Yet he mostly plays in west end pits… He could be, but I wouldn’t say he’s widely known for it - although I’m not someone who would know that sort of thing anymore. Jeez that hits a bit close to home 😅 They are very well built and the electronics have a flat response which make them very useful for sound engineers to get the cleanest sound possible. Just very reliable in all scenarios. -
But I wouldn’t say that makes them any less of a luthier, which is why I thought it was an interesting point because for me that means a luthier is centred around the woodwork and design.
-
An interesting point because I’ve heard of (people I deem to be) luthiers of solid body guitars/ basses sub contract the paintwork/ gloss of the instruments they build.
