  1. Well yes but if those batteries didn’t work you would take it up with the company that made/ sold the batteries not the place you bought the toy from. The app was downloaded from another retailer. Is it called play store or something on android?
  2. I went a month without playing electric guitar and absolutely sucked at it! Slowly getting back a bit but only play it once or twice a week so not putting too much pressure on it.
  3. I reckon they will be putting more effort into comms with their solicitor than with the manufacturer. I agree that what they have sold is working and the part that you are supposed to supply is not, albeit at the fault of the manufacturer.
  4. There was a red 5 at the bass gallery recently for £1500 which I think is about right. Unfortunately I couldn’t justify it!
  5. Practice costs nothing 😉
  6. Yes I remember hearing that at the time people thought the 60s fender finish was poor quality and cracked or wore too quickly, hence why in the latter years of the 70s the coating was so thick. But then rather than wear it just chipped which is far worse IMO.
  7. Were they given, or were purchases made from this retailer prior in order to build points and purchase other items using those points? That would be purposeful and therefore not a gift. For example if I use a credit card provider in order to build points to swap for air miles, I wouldn’t consider that a gift. I’ve purposefully made those purchases with that card to get the reward.
  8. Interesting strategy calling loyalty points a gift. I would argue they’re a form of payment and go against the ethos of the challenge.
  9. Maybe it’s because my evening plans were ruined by car failure but I am shocked that you would encourage each other into buying cables that aren’t replacing broken cables or removing liability where a salesman encourages a purchase! No wonder you’re all in this group 😂
  10. The neck pocket is completely painted, is that common for this era? I’m used to seeing the bare wood mark where it was held by a stick/rod.
  11. I can’t believe it’s gone off topic before anyone has mentioned the mastermind behind Letts bass…..qualified luthier or not? 😂
  12. Yet he mostly plays in west end pits… He could be, but I wouldn’t say he’s widely known for it - although I’m not someone who would know that sort of thing anymore. Jeez that hits a bit close to home 😅 They are very well built and the electronics have a flat response which make them very useful for sound engineers to get the cleanest sound possible. Just very reliable in all scenarios.
  13. But I wouldn’t say that makes them any less of a luthier, which is why I thought it was an interesting point because for me that means a luthier is centred around the woodwork and design.
  14. An interesting point because I’ve heard of (people I deem to be) luthiers of solid body guitars/ basses sub contract the paintwork/ gloss of the instruments they build.
  15. I’d trust someone who has studied in a renowned workshop over a college any day!
  16. An epiphone Thunderbird. Bought it after seeing The bassist from The Darkness and Cliff Williams playing Gibson equivalents but with the exception of the hard case, everything about it was rubbish.
  17. Have a look at the spec sheets on the Fender website. The B width neck is my preference too and my 2006 MIM model has one.
  18. Just play like Jaco and the guitarist will shorten their solos! 👍
  19. There’s a flamboyant 6 string fretless that has come up on FB today. I don’t play 6 and don’t need another fretless but I’m sure someone would love it. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HK8rWTmbW/?mibextid=wwXIfr
  20. I wouldn’t ask for much in return, just a few thousand vouchers for Andy Baxter’s store 😂
  21. Has to be one of these, it’s just iconic. Not a fan of the other bass specific shape they did though!
  22. Some of the guys I know who tour are so relaxed they could be punched in the face and it not phase them 😂 I lost a few gigs for the opposite approach!
  23. But to be moved by music, you need to connect with it whether through lyrics, arrangement or culturally. If you don’t have any understanding you’re less likely to connect with it. That’s the same for all art or language not just music. I’m not at all more or less intellectual than anyone else on here, but I like funk and some jazz because I’ve learnt elements and I can connect with it. As above your connection could be different.
  24. How are you defining a song or solo as emotion? Is it that it provokes emotion in you? That doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t written or played without emotion. Theory (intellect) is just a tool to help you get to ideas quicker or understand the ideas of others (including their emotion at point of writing/ playing).
