  1. Was going to say the same, It’s obvious where the costs add up. I find it strange that stores tend to stock gear that’s more marketed at beginners. I’d classify myself as a beginner on guitar and hate the idea of having to try gear out in a store, showing everyone how inept I am. However I guess for more advanced players, you sort of know what you want and won’t have an issue buying unseen online as a result, resulting in no footfall for physical shops.
  2. I’ve just seen a bass for sale on Facebook that I would say is way overpriced. £1800 for a MIJ Fender fotoflame! I swear these were generally not much more than £400 not so many years ago. Anyone else seen any examples recently of over ambitious pricing (not including vintage Fenders because we know that’s just the market)?
  3. All the parts on it are pretty common to buy so could well just be a bitsa bass
  4. Glad you like it. I believe the 3 bolt neck tilt was on jazzes only. The finish to me looks more like a varnish on a stripped body. Another common mod of the era.
  5. The stamina required to play like this over a set is incredible. Both physical and mental! The Cory Wong gigs weren’t short either.
  6. Yes easy to see now with the detailed pictures. The original pic looked like a fresh board - can be done - and the frets appeared jumbo size. Obviously now not the case. Shows the importance of the details!
  7. If the neck is Fender, it’s had a new nut, fingerboard, inlays and frets. The body might be but again has been modded beyond meaningful originality. It’s a dog if there ever was one.
  8. I always think I’ve seen it, so have the notorious dealers. I wonder if it’s just the poor photos that have put them off?
  9. Deps tend to have more availability during the week so might be more inclined to take a gig with a lower fee just for the extra income. If your gigs are weekends you’re competing against £150-300 fees for weddings ect. You can’t compare to tour fees because normally they include days when you’re travelling and not playing, and are a guaranteed income.
  10. Just polishing up my J4 after quite a bit of use. Can never get over how cool this top is!
  11. Not familiar with that style of music at all, but chromatics add a lot of movement to a bass part without necessarily impacting the harmony too much.
  12. I’ve unintentionally ended up playing just one bass all of 2025! Still loving it as much now as I did in 2017 when I got it so will take something special to sway me this year.
  13. Bargain. Wish I could be the one to take this off you!
  14. You will be hard pressed to make much money from an originals act.
  15. The neck isn’t. Put a maple fingerboard on and it will be a different sound!
  16. Funnily enough when I see a bass I often think, ahh that’s great if only it was a 5!
  17. Depends if you want to risk your name/ legacy or not. If he has enough money to enjoy retirement and pass a bit on, he may not what to.
  18. Hope you’re right and it’s just a scam but there’s nothing about changing bank details which you’d usually see on a scam attempt.
  19. I would have said Fodera but might be a struggle budget wise 😅 i always associated Ibanez basses to have lots of top end but then I was never keen on the low end of their sound.
  20. Won’t ever sell mine, fantastic cases.
  21. Under the signal path laws you’re still in
  22. I guess that is it. These are specs that I can take or leave. The 34.5 scale length intrigues me though because I struggled previously with a 35” so need to try one.
  23. It’d be good to hear one in a side by side comparison to the more common super jazz favourites like Sadowsky (US), Overwater or Fender Ultra. I’ve had two Sire’s and never had any issues with setup, electronics or hardware but understand I might have been lucky.
  24. I’ve been following what they’ve done on FB for a long while now and love the sounds I hear from the demos. There’s one on here in my favourite green colour. My problem is that my Sire is very very good and I don’t think the Anaconda will be enough of an improvement to warrant the price difference.
