1. Looks like an E, A, D and G to me :-p
 2.
Not even for £10,000,000 each?
And they would be your first choice of builders for that much each?
 3.
How about something built by Jon Shuker and Sheldon Dingwall and then finished by Ritter. *Drooooooools
I doubt that any of those 3 would entertain doing something like that!
 4. Jeez man, what is up with you lot? The poor guy isn't even dead! Beat the C John!
 5. Rethink done! My ACS are going to be taking backseat against my new order. Guess who spent the weekend auditioning CIEMs?
 6. Both are beautiful cases, I always liked the Reunion Blues stuff over the Mono. Don't know why really - probably because I crossed paths with it first. I'm not really a gig bag person but the finest bags I've found are these - http://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Bass-Bags/ (just another one to throw into the mix but they are more expensive!)
 7. Cant say for sure without seeing the rack case but i would be surprised if you could get all that front and back in a standard rack case/bag.
 8.
EBS Freak. Can you please stop trolling and ruining this thread? I find you very rude and not helpful. When you said "Go buy your next piece of sh*t and get sh*tty results with that." I switched off. I wrote you off as someone who tried to force his opinion on others in a very rude manner. I am surprised that the mods haven't come along and mentioned this. I visited you profile to send you a PM to try to sort the matter out amicably - but just as I was doing so, I noticed that you waded in with yet another rude comment. So I didn't bother. I'm not interested mate. I assume you have some self-esteem problem. I have a lot of very good info from this thread - and I'm sure it has been interesting to other too. Please stop trolling the thread - or at least try not to bother me.
I thought you had me blocked. If that were the case, it wouldn't be a problem would it? I don't believe I am trolling and ruining the thread. As I said earlier, all my comments have been valid helpful ones, especially up to the point where you accused me of trolling. I am not forcing any opinion at all. I am speaking from experience and whether you or others choose to listen is completely up to you. Thats your right. As for the mods coming along... what exactly are they going to slap my wrists for? Go back through my threads and read carefully. There is nothing that I have said that would warrant moderation. I suspect you have some personal beef for whatever reason that you have manifested in your head into something that is not there. No selfesteem problems here I am afraid. You may have to look elsewhere. I hope that you find your perfect PA with your generous budget... If anything so we dont have to have another episode like this! Toodlepip!
 9. Depending upon the rack case and the proximity you stand to your rig, you may want to mount your tuner to the bottom... or at least but it up next to the amp with the blank above it. Doesn't happen at every gig but with some rack cases, the view of the tuner can be obscured if looking top down... if you get what I mean. I need to move mine from the top for this very reason... but have not had the enthusiasm to get the screwdriver out yet. I'm guessing the cooling of your amp will be severely compromised by putting stuff behind it too...
 10. Dear The Dark Lord, for somebody who has blocked me, you seem to spend a lot of time looking at my profile page. Just sayin'.
 11.
I like a bass drum to be big fat and low. But with high end definition from the beater contact. Like a big fat slam.
Ooof! Damn right. Just like my nan's boulders.
 12.
Obviously it's personal preference and it's a pain moving big kick drums around but then again, if you're playing smaller venues and the bass rig is good then a big loud kick drum means you wouldn't need to bring a sub! I love that sound but it's a bit of a niche one nowadays...
Small venues generally aren't physically big enough to allow for big kits. The drummer won't be very popular if they take up the stage... that's the guitarist's job anyway. May aswell sling a sub under the speaker... it doesn't take up any more floorspace than a tripod speaker stand.
 13. I'd go along Pete if you need a yazzzzz wingman.
 14.
I was told by the tech guys at Bose, that it should be fine for a small rock setting too .... but it isn't. It's not loud enough. I mean, it might be. The Bose guys tell me that if I set it up perfectly to each venue, then it'll have plenty of volume and no feedback. Now, I've tried all the settings they say and it sorta works, but is not 100% reliable. So, my thought was to get another one - then I'd have enough volume before the feedback cuts in. We have tried two of them (we borrowed on of the Model 1s from a dealer) - but we got the same problem. I have again been assured by the Bose guys that, with the right tweaking this will be fine. I'm sure they are right, but, to be honest, I figured there must be an easier way to go compact. We just don't have the time and inclination to do so much set up before each gig. The Mackie DLM units seem a good option to me. It'll will also give us the option of putting more via the PA if we want to.
Claims are one thing, reality is another. The Bose guys aren't going to say anything but though are they? If you've got the money to invest, a digital desk, some time to learn it (e.g. the processing for compression, gates, reverb and other fx, 31 band eqs on the outputs), and a decent set of front of houses (and monitors if you need) will kill everything. It will also future proof you for many, many years. Outboard will become a thing of the past given the trend of digital desks at the moment. Seriously. (PS if they above is trolling, I apologise in advance (and I know you have me on block anyways) - but this post is for the benefit of others who may be in a similar situation to the OP)
 15.
Trouble with a heavy right foot is that the drum loses finesse. Better to play at medium and varying volumes, play it like a proper instrument, allow the beater to bounce off the head. Way more musical in feel and sound. A lot of drummers don't or can't do this. It's something I teach. So, mic it up. Way off topic though. Lol
I was going to mention this. Smacking seven shades of sh1t out of your bass drum got to have an impact on what you can play... let the amplification do the work. Micing a kit even in a small venue has it's advantages. What's the point of that splash if you can't hear it? Mic it up. In fact, scrap all those ideas. Tell your singer to forget the mic and shout louder.
 16.
I still mic it up though, using a Shure Beta 52. Sounds H U G E.
Exactly.
 17.
In all seriousness, noted and already relayed to band-leader (who, you may be surprised to learn, is not actually me ) along with comments about HPF etc. As I said to him in my email, we have the technology to do all this stuff but some things we just don't bother with. Maybe we should.
At least some good is going to come out of this thread then!
 18.
So you have more than basic skills and rudimentary knowledge, so why are you asking us for advice - or is it to let us know how amazingly wealthy you are? - How rude!
19.
The problem with the Bose system is that it was original designed for their pro-sound core market which is Hotelier trade. It was designed as a speech reinforcement unit for conference rooms and alike..... Then decided to market it into the mi arena.... I've heard it work well with acoustic acts but it's never gonna compete in a real life band situation
Exactly this. If you want old school Bose, get some cheapy cabs, turn them on their side and attach a couple of bog rolls to the front. Job done.
 20.
WE ALWAYS MIC THE KICK. Full stop.
In keeping with the spirit of the thread, I hope you put a big front of house speaker in front of it too.
 21.
To be fair, I thought that Bose say that this rig is SUPPOSED to go behind the band? This is why I suspect the OP has it set up as such. I can't see it working for a rock band though.
They are... but the laws of physics pretty much limit it to it being useful in an acoustic setup. For that, they work great. Coffee shops etc, vocals, acoustic, cajon, great... but not with a loud band. They don't give you a great deal of volume even at full pelt... and you won't get there before feedback sets in anyway. Great marketing but not so great (understatement of the year) in practice. I know, I've been there in a band that bought into the concept. I thought it was bad then and my thinking proved to be right. The best thing the OP could do is unload it, not mess around with the latest fads and buy a traditional setup that has been proven as a workable solution for many, many years.
 22.
yes definitely buy another one and put that behind the band too it's sure to help cut feedback!
What? No mention of the Behringer feedback destroyer?
 23.
Quick view on Mackie stuff - if you but anything with electronics in it (power amp, powered cabs, mixer etc) and it breaks then you can head straight to the nearest tip with it. Mackie gear is notoriously difficult to repair, I know one amp tech who pretty much refuses to even consider working on them. A friend of mine had a powered mixer fail recently and the potential cost of repair was way more than it was worth. I realise this can be the case with a few brands but my amp tech says Mackie is one of the worst. Maybe they have proprietary electronics in them that aren't easily replaceable I have to add that putting PA behind the ban is asking for trouble in just about any venue. Even with mics that have a super tight pattern you're going to pick up whatever's being fired at them through those speakers. It's fairly simple logic really - the rear speakers must be louder than the unamplified voices going into your vocal mics. This mean that the vocal mics will undoubtedly be picking up other, potentially loud, noise from the PA = feedback loop. Keeping the volume low and/or tuning the hell out them with a set of graphics will help but then that's going to kill your headroom and/or the sound is going to get pretty nasty. I have used side-fills that fire across the stage at larger venues with some success but with a decent set of monitors (an area where modern tech has really improved quality) I don't think it's really necessary any more. As others have said, I'd try setting up in a more acoustically efficient manner and re-tuning the PA to take this into account before lashing out any more money.
Stop trolling!
 24. What about the kick drum?
 25.
I was looking for advice on selecting kit - and all you did was troll me. You did that on one of my previous threads. You are now blocked.
Trolling? Really? Where? Other threads? Show me. Man. Get back on the meds. A block? Yeah, a few gates would probably help with your PA issues too! :-p Good luck!
