  1. The Aguilar 925 Preamp is boost only, sounds nice but I prefer the Sadowsky SBP 2 preamp as it also has a volume control (so you can switch between having the preamp on/off with no volume change. The Aguilar DB 599 is okay for a small footprint comp. One thing I’ve noticed is that at full compression the gain control doesn’t boost the volume back up to unity gain. With the gain on full, at least with my setup, unity is reached with the comp at around 2 O’clock. Any more comp results in a volume drop. I have loads of compressors, and even though I’m an Analouge fan at heart, the TC Electronic Spectracomp is a firm favourite of mine.. It can be as simple or complex as you want (it has one knob, can use Toneprints and you can edit using a computer if you so desire).
  2. Now even less at Thomann, £235!!
  3. … what is your favourite one Si?
  4. Yup, it’s a normal 9V centre negative source that is required IIRC.
  5. Hey all, Just bought a tuner off Nic, it came well packaged, there was great comms and the price was good. I would happily deal with again, thanks. Peace, Jim.
  6. Hey all, Just bought a pedalboard from Ian. Great comms, well packaged and a great price. Thank you again and would happily deal with in the future. Peace, Jim.
  7. Rob, I’ve got a BF Big Baby 2 and it’s surprisingly loud!
  8. … IIRC the necks without a volute have replaceable truss rods, the ones with a volute need the board to come off. I think it was from around ‘96 they started to have volutes on their necks?
  9. Just bought a Xotic Effects Bass RC Booster off Dave. All good and would happily deal with again. Thank you 👍🏻.
  10. Hey all, just sold Rich a pedalboard. All good, no hassle and would happily deal with again. Great BCer.
  11. Man, if my XPND2 goes I’d have this in a flash! GLWTS 👍🏻😎
  12. … now even less expensive! https://www.thomann.co.uk/squier_affinity_jazz_bass_vi_bkm.htm?glp=1&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADuDMCVWZDuQSBjpoLQivmaZ1m-D2&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvpy5BhDTARIsAHSilyl8X3gN8N4ciBsSoV5ptYbtS2bh-sxo3GhhKp2Q-XgKhykMomMPnrAaAmCLEALw_wcB
  13. … think my first board was a Nano with a tuner, radial big shot I/o instrument selector (similar to your one) and a DI. Nice and simple but worked as it should. At the moment I’m preferring smaller boards also tbh 👍🏻
  14. https://www.fender.com/en-GB/squier-electric-basses/jazz-bass/affinity-series-jazz-bass-vi/0378671565.html £261 below!! https://www.thomann.co.uk/squier_affinity_jazz_bass_vi_bkm.htm?glp=1&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADuDMCVWZDuQSBjpoLQivmaZ1m-D2&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvpy5BhDTARIsAHSilyl8X3gN8N4ciBsSoV5ptYbtS2bh-sxo3GhhKp2Q-XgKhykMomMPnrAaAmCLEALw_wcB err, I am tbh even though I only play 5 at the mo lol!!
  15. GLWTS, Eldon is a great BCer 👍🏻
  16. ... I'd get a SBP 2 preamp and a separate DI tbh. I have both a Radial Bassbone Tonebone V1 and a couple of the Sadowsky SBP 2 preamps (and a fair few DI's). The build quality of the SBP 2 is superb, I didn't rate the SBP 1 as much build quality wise tbh. Also means you can mix and match your DI's if you wanted to. The tone you can get on the Sadowsky is great and as said above very simple in it's operation.
  17. ... a bit more detail from their website. I've got V1 and it is ace as most peeps know already 🙂 https://aguilaramp.com/products/tone-hammer-preamp
  18. ... I've got No. 1, and I'd likely not part with it any time soon also !! GLWTS
