I’ve got loads of pedals and boards, but am finding myself definitely going down the route of what I’d say you have, a ‘tone board’. Not really switching effects during a gig, just a great catch all tone for giving a great sound. I’m making one for fretted and fretless, then having a home board that can cater for both. Well that’s the plan anyhow! Obviously for some gigs/styles of music you need all the bells and whistles, but I don’t really play any of that stuff lol!

… well to add to this I’ve downsized my 12 built boards (😳😆) to just one that consists of a TU3 - Alma Comp - Spark Booster - JDi all on a Nano. Wanted to go back to basics for a bit and actually improve my playing, rather than spend time focused on pedals and related gear!! It’s all fun etc but think I was starting to get a bit overwhelmed by it all! Now the funny thing is I’m seriously considering getting another Zoia to simplify (or go down an even bigger black hole 🕳️) it all!!

... I've seen a few YT vids where the order is comp - octave - fuzz/dirt - modulation. That seems to work for me when I have a synth bass inclination.

… I’m having that battle in my head at the moment regarding app support! In 5 years time will be digital stuff still be supported?? My analogue stuff will stiff work as good as it ever will long after I’m gone though lol!!

… gotta love the Spectracomp 🎶

Anytune is an app with pitch shifting capabilities, but you need to own the song to upload it into the app. It runs on iOS well.

Yup, I'd be up for it if I'm free.

… I bought a Fender Micro DI that looks to be made in the same factory as try HB one, great for what it is and I never had any complaints about the DI sound when I used it!

… probably the Lusithand Alma Mk II comp I bought from Nuno direct when on sale. However the most pleasantly surprising one was the Digitech Bass Squeeze. Not a lot of love for them on the reviews but I quite actually like it! Honourable mention goes to the Walrus Audio Mira comp though 😎.

… can the pickup under the cover be pushed up so the pole pieces are flush or stick out a bit? Normally there is a piece of foam or springs under the pickup in the body cavity that do this when installed IIRC.

The Aguilar 925 Preamp is boost only, sounds nice but I prefer the Sadowsky SBP 2 preamp as it also has a volume control (so you can switch between having the preamp on/off with no volume change. The Aguilar DB 599 is okay for a small footprint comp. One thing I’ve noticed is that at full compression the gain control doesn’t boost the volume back up to unity gain. With the gain on full, at least with my setup, unity is reached with the comp at around 2 O’clock. Any more comp results in a volume drop. I have loads of compressors, and even though I’m an Analouge fan at heart, the TC Electronic Spectracomp is a firm favourite of mine.. It can be as simple or complex as you want (it has one knob, can use Toneprints and you can edit using a computer if you so desire).
