Man, you couldn't get stuff this good for £50, even back in the 70's when I was starting out. You might do better putting it on Marketplace or Gum tree or whatever - everyone on here (me included) is either too old ( me ), too lazy ( me again) or too rich ( not me, sadly) to be bothered with full fat, old school stuff like this. A set of 3" castored, braked wheels can be had on eBay for £20 or less. Strip that rat-fur off and a bit o' paint and you'll have a great cab for well below £100. Bargain!

Not sure I'd be that worried about the orientation but what's with the old style badging? Not that it isn't a cool logo, mind... EDIT: I've read the full article now. Didn't know they offered that service. I wonder if 'd be up for sending me a new logo. I've got one of each and wouldn't mind an matching...

Hi Rob, as you've seen, I've only gone and bought one, ain't I? It was your approval and @agedhorse being involved - I've seen his stuff on Talkbass and he knows his pigeons - what swung it for me in the end. Looks like I be selling some amps an' ting soon. At this money, it's gonna have to be better sounding than both the Demeter pre + power amp rig AND the Genz Benz Shuttle or back to Thomann it goes. Spec looks perfect for my needs , though, and I dig the cosmetics. I'll keep you informed. Got me a gig in Ulverston tomorrow so it's gon' make its debut there. We'll see...

I bagged the last one from Thomann - ordered early hours of Saturday morning - and it arrives tomorrow, just in time for the weekend's shows. I'm trying to be cool about it but, well, y'know...

I'm keen to check one of these out, for sure, but I wish you'd asked ME what features to include as then this otherwise perfect looking amp would have at least one 9 volt output on the back to power a tuner ( or other) pedal. That's got to be a good, useful and relatively cheap feature, surely? I don't want you to feel too bad about it, though; I've been playing for 50 years, owned scores of amps and only just thought of it myself... Next time, maybe...

@agedhorse Are you involved in writing the manuals? Mesa manuals are consistently the best I've seen - low on marketing -speak, NO bullshit acronyms and full of actual useful pointers for real-world use. Well done , whoever it was. I can see one of these featuring heavily in my life very soon.

It was my pleasure to buy a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 off Sarah and her partner on Saturday last. Item as described, good comms, fair price (for both of us). Deal with confidence! Shug

Gotta say, I had a rumble 15 and I couldn't recommend it. I love the larger Rumbles but the 15's got nowt going for it , tonewise and obviously not enough power for anything but solo practice.

Pretty sure it's safe on a pub gig with you in the room all the time, likewise on tour where you travel with it.. It's putting it on an aeroplane or otherwise entrusting it to a third party where things might unravel, especially if there's a change of flight an route. Get it played, man!

Traynor YBA3 Custom Special ‘72/73

This is a great amp and has had but a few hours use since being fully refurbed - new caps and a load of other bits as required - in the last 3 years ( Early lockdown IIRC). The guy who did it is a proper valve amp whisperer, too. I used it with several different cabs of all sizes and it always sounded like it should. Buy with confidence... -
There's a couple of GK combos on here that'd do you proud. A 410 @ £700 and a 115 @£555 if memory serves, either of which would sort you out, GK pretty much outclass most stuff on the market for durability and tone, IMO.

Just got me some cables off this fella and what a nice, easy and modestly priced transaction it was. Great quality cable and plugs ( Neutrik and Sommer respectively ), good comms, quick delivery. Forget the name brands, you'd be crazy to pay more elsewhere. I'm well pleased, me...

That's good. I've read your stuff over the years and thought of you when I got to the venue and found the Handbox laid on. And later that same evening, too, come to that...😉 Incidentally, WoT, have HB changed the pre-amp design? The one I was using didn't have a mid control as such but the ones on their current website do. Or have I got that wrong? I loved the amp up to but not including the moment it gave out on me. I'm still planning on contacting HB to see if they'd cut me a deal of some kind.

I used one of these on a gig in Poland a couple of weeks ago and had a similar experience in that a half hour or so into the set it lost volume and tone and then went into protect mode. I didn't think I was hitting the pre-amp that hard - just a standard JB and no effects - though I did have the gain and master a fair way up to get the output required. I was using a Mark 410, 4ohms, which seems a pretty efficient cab. I was 100% pleased to be using this amp - the promotor provided it - as they're on my list and up to that point it sounded great. Once I'd turned it off and on again it worked and sounded fine, though as it was a one-night-only scenario I couldn't say whether it'd be a regular occurrence or not. I'd be interested to know how yours turns out. They seem to be real nice amps - I've used a LOT of heads and this stood out sound and apparent build quality-wise - so it'd be a shame if they were prone to issues like this. Shug

You're gonna need an 800RB, though...
