1. Hmm, nice... of course the law states that LPB with white guard must be a rosewood board, but I must admit there's something faintly pervy and erotic about a maple board instead. So I'm prepared to let you off this time if you post a proper NBD thread.
 2.
Yes, I am always on the lookout for an all-valve head no more than 19in wide - the width of my Barefaced cabs! The Selmer T'n'B is barely wider (mine is only 50W), and those Trace valve heads are also about the right size but with only a graphic for tone control.
You need a Burman MPA and SL100 Powerpak! http://basschat.co.u...sl100-powerpak/ Weight in thread is inaccurate - it's only 35kg in total.
 3.
Them young 'uns and their sub cultures!! They don't even know they're born, half of 'em
That's right. Dad-Rock endures!
It seems now that the bigger 'booty' you have and the more you shake it on your music video, the more records you sell.
What records? Anyway my 'booty' is massive and I shake it all the time. Hasn't done me any favours. I've got giant bangers, too... still no good.
 4. Nice stringing skills at the headstock, though! I'm always impressed by proper attention to detail.
 5. Well of course you're just making this up - unless you post some pics! You know the rules!

 7.
Think that already happened in the 80's.
Ah... I don't remember too much about the 80s. Or the 70s. The 60s are a bit vague, too... ...in fact I haven't a clue what's going on half the time.
 8. *SOLD* MXR M-80 2-Channel Bass DI+ Decided that I don't actually need this, so it's up for grabs. Here's Jim Dunlop's blurb: 'Finally, all the essentials in one tough little box. You need a serious D.I. for playing live and laying down killer tracks. You've got to have a preamp and finely tuned EQ to add punch to your tones. And you definitely can't do without some rich, custom distortion. This one-of-a-kind pedal gives you the whole deal in a bomb-proof enclosure that will survive even the most out of control gigs-and players. Built with the highest quality components, the M-80 can give you everything from warmth and transparency to a volcanic roar, without making you scroll through menu screens or an indecipherable manual. Engage the color switch for some sweet preset EQ, then tweak your tone with three band control. Dial in your ideal distortion with the gain knob and blend just the right amount into your clean signal, then kick it on and off at will. The adjustable noise gate pours on the sustain and cuts out hum and hiss. With XLR and parallel 1/4" outputs and a phantom power switch, you'll never have a problem delivering your choice new tones. Power: Single 9 volt battery or Dunlop ECB003 AC Adapter.' Works with a standard Boss-type 9V centre-negative PSU. It's a nice-sounding and useful bit of kit built to a high standard. Very good clean condition and fully working. The rubber pads on the base are easy to remove if necessary. Boxed and despatched via Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day before 1pm tracked and signed for. I will PM tracking details and an ETA to the buyer. Payment via bank transfer, please. 9.
I'm totally over the moon with the Fender Flats, 9050ML.
Currently got these on my Jazz Deluxe IV. Such a difference over the strings it came with. They're very affordable, too. Agree with the above, a set of strings that suit you can make all the difference. As far as rounds go, I generally prefer nickels or nickel-plated purely because I find steels shred my fingers too much.
 10. I can get firewood cheaper than that! From a petrol station!
 11.
A quick snap from rehearsals this week.
You are Rick Wakeman and I claim my five pounds.
 12.
Amsterdam is probably my favourite city in the world.
And mine.
It's just a shame so many people can't think beyond the red lights and coffee houses.
Quite. There are also some great museums and art galleries, apparently.
 13.
I've come across more string snobbery- no one has insisted I play X brand, but some have insisted I don't turn up with more than four strings.
Yes, what IS that? The thinking seems to be that if you have a 5-string bass you're somehow going to play too many notes and what's worse, probably not shut up, stand at the back and play roots and fifths like I want you to so that my great guitar skilz can come to the fore, thanks very much please.
 14.
http://www.thedailym...t-2015021095240
Perfectly articulates my feelings on the matter.
 15.
Makes me sad in an utterly selfish way, as I am of a similar age and he was there in the NME etc that I used to read avidly as a teen. I said it was a selfish viewpoint but thats how I feel
I feel exactly the same Clarky if it's any consolation.
 16.
I just went to YouTube to find out about that one.
So then I had to as well... God it's a bland song, is it not??
 17.
I suspect crap strings?
They could be, but any strings that aren't 'mine' seem crap, so maybe that's it... makes a huge difference to your first impression, though.
 18. Update on my Sqiuer Jazz Deluxe IV... I bought it as a no-worry gigging bass, but in a very short time it seems to be my go-to bass... I spent some time choosing strings, tweaking the truss rod, fitting a Hipshot Xtender, tort guard and 'Scotchbriting' the neck to get it just how I wanted it - and now I'd be miffed if anything happened to it, thus defeating the object of buying it in the first place! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/255078-nbd-squier-deluxe-jazz-iv-active/ I'll get a sound file up so you can check it out.
 19.

Very, very nice indeed. That's the best Limelight Jazz I've seen since... 'my' 60s blonde stack-knob relic (now owned by three)!! Well done, it looks a real peach and I bet it plays like one too.
 20.
...those awful "almost sounds like the original artist" compilation albums you used to get in Woolworth's
I remember those, so depressing! Nothing worse than hearing some faceless session band kill a number you didn't want to hear by the original artist in the first place!
 21. Holy crap, I'd forgotten about some of these horrors! Every morning I get down on my knees and thank God I'm not in a cover band. At the moment.
 22.
Pre-amp valves are fine on their sides but the power valves seem to need to be vertically oriented otherwise the electrons get confused. IIRC the AC30 had them upside down
What about a small valve combo where the power valves hang down into the speaker enclosure? Oh, wait...
 23.
Do they have to stand upright?
No. In the G-K MB500 Fusion they're on their sides. As they are in the Ampeg SVP 1U preamp.
