I've just seen a guy carrying a Squier Jazz - no case or bag - on the platform at Denmark Hill. Except to note that my phone tried to correct Squier to Squirt.
Outstanding! There's nothing like a lovely naked Squirt in public.
...a US label has agreed to distribute my band's second album (when it's finally finished) over there. I reckon that's a bit of result.
So do I, well done.

It's a very nice and increasingly rare cab. Hang on to it! Looks good with the Burman on top. Like the monolith from '2001...'

As far as punters are concerned they have not the slightest clue. Most of 'em can't tell the difference between a bass and a guitar at two paces, let alone what type/brand it is. And anyway, by the time they engage you in conversation they're likely to be, er... 'not at their best'. I don't care if another bass player mocks my bass, either. If he doesn't understand that a *insert name of budget or unusual brand* can be a good sounding, playable bass then what kind of bass player is he anyway!? The half-witted, suppurating pile of pus!
White Blonde. It's the law
This time I agree. You haven't taken a 'good taste' pill, have you?
Looks like a cracking bass for the cash! I love the scratchplate as well. Looks kind of boutique-y!
Thanks Dave... it does a bit. I could remove the Squier logo and write something illegible with a Sharpie - that would do it.
Shame it's a cheap & nasty plywood body.
Just like those Ritter ones.

No, but they're handy for carrying and certainly make the bass lighter.
oh dont start that one again! Well not before weve been around "fodera:worth it?" "Barefaced handles I have known" "this months flavour of the month love in" "rosewood or maple" "are fender any good" "valve or solidstate" "tweeters yay or nay" "and "bass reflex vs horns"
What else should we talk about? You don't want to discuss how we actually play the bass, do you? That would be crazy! Anyway, here are your answers: Are Fodera worth it: No. Barefaced handles: OK by me. Flavour of the month: Squier. Probably. Rosewood or maple: Maple. Are Fender any good: Sometimes. Valve or Solid State: Valve. Unless you have to carry your own amp, then Solid State. Tweeters: Yay. Reflex v Horns: Horns.

Camembert Electrique was a seminal album. I bought it in 1974 for 59p (the price of a single at that time - Virgin were promoting various albums this way to give more exposure to artists). It introduced me to psychedelic rock and blew my little teenage mind. -
I am currently in the running for the bass slot in an Americana sort of outfit myself, which only enhances my interest in the way other players tackle the job.
Well good luck with that. Better start growing a beard. And if you have one already, grow a HUGE beard. And get a hat. Everything else will just fall into place...
Is that because of different songs or just unhappy with your sound?
Yes, different songs - particularly for covers. It helps create the illusion, especially if the guitar does the same and the singer is a bit of a chameleon. Not much you can do about the drums, though - unless it's a leccy kit, of course - depends how far you want to go with it. But I do use different settings for my originals bands, too - a bit of disto here, maybe a little bit of (shh) slapping there... though to a great extent I do most of my tone changes by plucking the strings at different positions and/or alternating between fingerstyle and pick. No, I'm not unhappy with my sound! Though not enough happy enough to stop buying gear all the time though, obviously.
-
Do you guys tweek for different songs then or something?
Yes, and much more so when I play in a covers band - which I don't. But yes.
-
What about having check boxes instead of radio buttons. You can 'buy' several songs rather than judging the best.
That's a good idea.
Bell plate on its own has a certain cool too.
Now that's just the kind of Jaco-look I'm not a big fan of! We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Besides, it's done now and I simply can't be bothered to do anything about it. Except buy another bass, obviously. That's the answer to everything, apparently...
Do keep us all posted on where you will be playing this, especially if you venture west of the Smoke (Reading/Swindon/Bath/Bristol/Oxford etc).
I surely will, thanks for your interest... you can come and see my weird Alleva-Coppolo/Squier hybrid in the flesh!
-
Personally I would have left the bass without a scratchplate, as now the lack of metal bell plate looks even more weird!
What, weird like this Alleva-Coppolo..?
