A lot of Precisions can be a bit hit and miss but usually you cannot go wrong with the Japanese ones. Cost wise, about £250 upwards I guess.

This is a practically unused and pristine Stingray. Seriously there's not a scratch on it. It comes with the Musicman hard case as in the pictures. I'm asking for £650 which is a fair price as I've seen them go for 700+ on ebay. I'm based in Shropshire and I would prefer not to post. I don't mind doing a meet up if its not too far. Also as part of my mass clear out I'm going to let go of my '78 Precision. It looks original though I'm not 100% sure with the scratch plate. I'm asking for a realistic £750. It doesn't have an original case but I can supply an old knackered one if required. And finally, for now my 1984 Japanese SQ series Squier Precision. I'm only selling this as I have two. The other is exactly the same but heavier (which I prefer for some odd reason). £280 I cannot accept any trades as I really really do need to thin the collection. And again I really don't want to post any of the basses as I've had nothing but damage and hassle in the past. Please PM if you have any questions. Cheers, Paul
It's a beaut. Paul, many thanks mate, a rough night for driving all those miles but if you're half as happy as I am with the deal it was worth the drive! The bass is everything I hoped it would be, that is, a 'ray that in build and playability feels like a good '70's Fender. Very different tone to all of my previous EBMMs, much more guts and power (although that might be down to its weighing several tons ). A 70's fretted Precision, a 70's fretless Precision and an early 80's 'ray. I'm now in bass heaven Chris
Absolutely bloody fantastic! Really, I'm so chuffed you like it mate. And I'm as happy as a pig in poo. That Ray is gorgeous!

Hi y'all. For sale is my 2001 US Precision. Its in great nick with only a slight dink on the back just above where the strings come through, nothing major. The colour is a very light blue with a white scratch plate. I got it from PMT in Birmingham last year where they told me that its a 'baby blue'?? Im asking for £460 which is a bit less for what I payed. It dose come with the Fender hard case. I'm sorry I cannot trade on this one. I really do need to thin the collection! Cheers

Hi all. I'm reluctantly putting my old Stingray up for sale, needs must I'm afraid. I've owned the bass for about two years and its hardly ever left the house which is a crying shame. With a change of musical direction I exclusively use Precisions whereas before I only owned Stingrays and this one was more of a trophy bass for home noodling. I'm no huge expert on these but its the string through body type with a 3 bolt neck. It dose have ware and tear with lots of lacquer checking, scuffs etc. But overall its pretty good and looks the absolute dogs! Its so cool. The photo was takes a few months ago and since the my camera packed up. If anybody's seriously interested and wants some more pics I'll borrow a decent camera for the job. Theres no original case but I'll sort an old one out. I would really wouldn't want to post the bass as I've had bad experiences with couriers in the past and its quite heavy. Im in Telford Shropshire BTW. I'm asking £1000 which is what I payed for it. If you have any questions on it I'll do my best to answer them but I guess theres quite a few of you who know a lot more about them than me. Cheers

Thanks for an informative and fascinating thread. Today I have just collected my '73 Precision bass and the differences between this one and my '78 are enormous. They are two very different basses. Thunderhead wrote about the shape and thickness and I couldn't agree more. The '73 is smaller all round, almost 5mm thinner body depth at the strap button. Also the bass is far more contoured making it feel slimmer and lighter. The width at the nut is 40mm whereas the '78 is about 42mm. Not a lot really on paper but the difference in feel is very noticeable. The '78 is a bloody tank in comparison! To be fair tho, the '78 isn't that heavy, its a great bass and the chunkier neck is more too my liking. I own 5 Precisions now, the others being a '01 USA string through body jobbie (which is an excellent P-Bass). An '84 Squier and a Jap '62 reissue which has the widest 4 string neck I've ever played. All of which are great but all quite different.

The Gallery in Camden London gets my vote. Bass porn perverts paradise! Seriously, great guys and do pretty good deals. I just wish it was 'round the corner! 10 points for service. 8 points for price (could always be cheaper ) 8 points for stock (dont expect many basses for under £400) http://www.thebassgallery.com/index2.html

My opinion will be grossly bias towards Warwick. I own two which is not enough! Ill guess that it was the Corvette $$ as their quite popular and tho i have not played one users on the Warwick forum rave about them. Warwicks kick bum, but i would say that but if you have got over the first hurdle (getting on with the neck) then you are on to a winner!
It really annoys the hell out of me... A great example was the Who at Glasto. Pino wasn't even in close up during one of the bass breaks in 'My Generation'
Now that just ain't fair! And i want one of them t-shirts. There might be the slim chance that i could be proved wrong!

Sh*t man, sorry to hear that. I have to admit that I have been a bit slack and left gear in the car. This should be a lesson to everybody. Once again sorry.
