  1. Lovely basses. There was a Recurve listed that's sold now and it was stunning. I was close to seriously battering my credit card!
  2. Well, I finally got around to fitting the strings on Sunday. They certainly are more mellow than the strings I had on before but what I'm finding is that I'm struggling to find mid frequencies that I'm comfortable with. I'm doubting that the strings have anything to do with this but more the preamp. I spent some time with the bass tinkering with the EQ on both the amp and bass. Amp being an EBS TD650 through an EBS Neo 2x10. And TBH struggling to find a pleasing sound but what I will say is the sound isn't bad and needs to be tried at volume with the band. It's likely that it'll sound phenomenal live and cut through like a knife but at home, it sounds nowhere near as good as my Roscoe bass (all Bartolini).
  3. I have a set of Elixirs nickels coming today which (as mentioned above) will hopefully smooth things out and take away some of the zing. I'm pretty sure the strings on it are steels of some sort which I'm not keen on. Defiantly worth a try and if they do 'kill' the tone I can fit them to something else.
  4. The preamp is going to play a huge part in the tone, probably more so than the pups. I'd be interested to know what preamps are fitted to the basses that aren't equipped with EMG's. I have a Roscoe bass with Bart pups and preamp and it sounds as sweet as a nut. I'd defiantly prefer a warmer tone in any of my basses.
  5. Recently bought a Euro LX that was listed on here for quite a while. I really don't understand why it took so long to sell but hey-ho. I bought it to replace a heavier bass that I was struggling with when using in the band and I'm so glad I did. The bass is superb in both looks and quality. As mentioned above, the workmanship is outstanding having all the attributes of a hand made instrument that would cost a hell of a lot more. I briefly owned a Euro LX around 12 years ago and found the neck like a club, very chunky indeed. However the one on mine is much slimmer thankfully and a joy to play. I've not had the chance to use it at a band rehearsal yet and I'm hoping to get to grips with the TonePump before I do. I've spent a fair time getting familiar with it at home and I'm struggling to get a tone that I like BUT I'm fully aware that what sounds great in the spare room can sound crap on stage. If I decide that the EMG TP configuration is not working for me I'd be looking at changing them to something that potentially will. Aguilar pups and pre are fitted to Spectors so I'm wondering what the differences are between them? Have Bartolini ever been used or tried I wonder?
  6. Tim sold me his outstanding Spector Euro LX. What a top guy Tim is. The courier I recommended was an absolute nightmare for him but Tim went above and beyond to ensure the bass got to me with as little delay as possible. Communications were spot on in every way. Prompt, informative and friendly. An absolute first class Basschatter who I'd happily deal with again and again. Cheers Tim 👍
  7. Thanks for the info Dave. For the price it dose exactly what you'd want it to by the sounds of it. I'm really hoping the seller gets somewhere with the courier. I'd hate it to be written off as it's hardly the sellers fault.
  8. S0DS law and all that! I bought the last one listed here on BC and it's currently lost in the post. I'm itching to try it out with my EBS 2x10 cab, my small practice room rig and back up. I'll just have to wait until it's hopefully sorted. I'd like to hear your opinion on the little beastie.
  9. A tough decision to sell this but it's proving too heavy (4.3Kg) for use in the band and I don't want it being unused. It's too good to spend its life in a case. My useless back starts acting up after about 30 minutes playing it so it's best to find it a new home. It's been fitted with Fender CS '62 Pickups and KiOgon loom. It sounds great with flats although it's got a new set of 45-105 nickel Elites fitted at the moment. I'll put some flats in the case so you can hear for yourself. Condition it's 'good used' with a few scratches and most notably a dink just above the scratch plate. See pic. Its looking properly vintage with the white Finish looking more cream and the dark rosewood fingerboard. The action goes low, too low for me and the truss rod turns fine. My crap photos don't do it much justice so if anymore are required please ask. The Fender tweed case has seen better days but it dose the job and like the bass, it looks pretty cool. This really is a lovely looking bass and its a wrench to sell but a new lighter bass is incoming that needs paying for. No trade offers please. Can be collected from here in Merseyside and I should be able to post it by next weekend. Can meet up/deliver depending on distance. I don't mind a drive down to Birmingham for example.
  10. David bought my Precision bass and what a pleasure it was too! Absolutely great guy to deal with. Another first class Basschatter 👍
  11. Two too many strings for me I'm afraid. I'd love a second Roscoe as they're so darn good and this is a great price for one. Pity my limited talent is limited to 4 strings only!
  12. These are such good basses. I owned one but alas, was too heavy for use in the band so I had to say goodbye. This one however at 8.2Lbs is incredible for a modern Precision, just wish I had the £££

  14. Just bought a TD650 from Lee. Really easy and hassle free transaction with prompt communications. Happy to meet half way in Birmingham which I'm very grateful for! Another top Basschatter. Cheers Lee 😎
  15. Sorry Steve, I don't have a box or case to send it in, just a gig bag I'm afraid.
  16. They’re the strings that came with it when I bought it. Nothing special, just nickel rounds.
  17. Reality check time. Do I like this bass? Hell yes. Do I need this bass? Well, no. It's an excellent bass, I mentioned in a thread here that it's one of the finest Precisions I've owned and I really can't fault it. At 8Lbs 12oz it's lighter than my US bass and a joy to play. It sounds fab and for once, I had no desire to start looking at new pups. The fit and finish on these Mex P's is as good as I've seen on any of my US ones. The neck is the wide but shallow 50's type which I find very comfortable to play. The action was low when I got it, too low for me so I set it up to my clumsy liking so if low actions is your thing, this will happily accommodate. Condition is excellent for a used bass, absolutely no issues to report, only the slightest surface scratches here and there. Nothing to photograph. I fitted the white guard as in the pictures as I simply hate the feel of the gold anodized one. I like the look of them but that's all! The gold one will be included in the sale as will be the Fender gig bag it came with. So why am I selling? I use my Roscoe for the band as it covers everything. It's my main bass and quite superb in every way. I have a '95 US Precision which I cannot bring myself to part with and mostly, I need to sort my amplification requirements out which will be expensive. I don't have a box to ship it in so it's collection only from St Helens in the North West. I could possibly meet up if not too far for diesel costs or a Greggs veggie pastie. No trade offers please and the price is firm. I can take more pics if required but there's loads out there to view on line. Again, the condition is excellent so nothing really to show.

  19. I've never owned or even played on a custom shop bass but that made pretty grim reading considering the prices. You'd have to expect nothing less than perfection. I bought a Vintera Precision off eBay a few weeks back and have to say it's one of the finest Precisions I have played. Lighter than my other Pbasses. looks great with the gold scratch plate replaced with a white one. The neck and frets are perfect with a very low action which I raised quite a bit to suit my liking and it sounds killer, absolutely no need to change the pickups. I can't fault it in any way and all for under £500!

Dave bought my LPB Custom Precision bass. Great Basschatter and great transaction, just how it should be! Cheers Dave 👍
  21. Tentatively putting the wonderful bass up for sale as I really need to sort my amplification out which will be pricy. Something local to me has come up for sale which really floats my boat but if it sells before this I'll probably withdraw it. Anyhow. I bought this here earlier in the year and it's not left the house. I mainly use my other Precision as it's well 'roadworn'. The LPB finish is gorgeous and I really wanted to keep it that way! I added a vintage off white pick guard and Fender thumb rest. I was going to replace the BadAss bridge and fit covers but I saw sense and left it be. Other than that it's in the same excellent condition as in the photos shown in the link below. (Much better pics than I can manage). It's fitted with Labella flats but can fit rounds if required. It comes with a hard case and postage is possible but I'd obviously prefer collection or meet up. Price is firm and no trade offers please. All the details and history of the bass are explained below on the links.
