1. Sorry, didn't see you post!
2. I don't know how to judge if they are legit or not, but if you're in the market here's the link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130862456855?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
3. If I had unlimited funds I'd love to own a Ritter bass. Enjoying the aesthetics of your bass imho is part of the pleasure of picking it up to play and practice. My personal choice would be the Roya body shape.
4. What's been said really from my point of view. Try and play sympathetically with the feel of the song and with what you hear and don't overplay early on as achknalligewelt said above. I love writing originals with our band - far more than playing covers. Carpe diem.
5. That's bad. I listened to 10 Years After an a lot when I first got into music.

What flats?

I'm going to lob the Fender CL9050s into the mix. Nice strings, not too stiff, in the gauge range you want and good value at £20 or so a set.
9. I've been there a few times when live music was on, but I'm afraid I can't help you on the PA front much as it looked different every time so I assumed the band brought their own. You could perhaps ask them to take a couple of pics of the equipment and send them to you. Nice venue though. I live around a mile away. If you can give me a few details of the event etc and any contact name(s) I'd be happy to pop in and ask for you.
10.
Manchester Bass Lounge!!!! In Worsley. I live in Worsley and never knew about this place. A definite visit is in order.
Check the website, call Drew to make an appointment (that's the way he works) and make sure you have a responsible adult with you at all times
11. Check out ACG on here too (affiliates section). Alan does some stunning s/cut basses. http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/
12. Perhaps we should have an 'everybody bring a P bass" session at the MBB next year? Might upset Alan though, so on second thoughts maybe not.

19. I can't think of a single reason why anyone would not want to hear new music. For my part I would think it supremely arrogant to suggest that anything worthwhile has already been created. You may not like it all, but that doesn't make it bad music, and who is so omniscient that they can consider themselves to be the sole arbiter of taste? Actually reading a few of the recent threads on here it would appear quite a few individuals do.

21. You never said! Massive apologies for not mentioning it first time around, error now corrected. I will go and stone myself later. Yeah, top bloke Peggy; loved the upright btw. How do you keep a straight face during some of the songs, I'd not heard them in ages and some of the lyrics are laugh out loud stuff. For readers wondering what on earth I am talking about, the support were Fake Thackery playing some of Jakes songs (and Led Zep too).
22. I now feel completely unable to write another F/s thread
23. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours (and more) at the Fairport gig in Burnley last night. Added bonus was when I walked in who should be loitering around the merch stand as they were setting up but Dave Pegg. Grabbed a few minutes of his time and had an interesting chat. If you've never been to see Fairport Convention I strongly recommend giving them a try. Yes it's folk-rock or what ever you want to call it, but if you enjoy seeing quality musicians who clearly delight in playing for audiences then you'll probably enjoy this. They also actually talk to the audience too; scary stuff for modern bands sadly. Edit: I committed a serious sin of omission here by not mentioning the excellent support Fake Thackery. Some brilliant reworking of Jakes songs, the lyrics are so well crafted and brilliantly funny. The delivery and timing spot on too.
24. I was distinctly underwhelmed I'm afraid.
