1. I have a lightly used B string from a lightly used 5-string set I bought on here (for a 4-string bass) that you are welcome to if you'd like to try it out cheaply. Please feel free to drop me a PM if you're interested.
2. I think it has occasionally turned into other sections. Maybe a bit too many of the 'here's my new band vid/CD/website/song' (delete as appropriate) that should be elsewhere. I don't get too excised about it though.

ACG build

Just got back from Moffat discussing #3 and also a change in the electronics for the Finn bass. Instead of the ACG EQ02 Alan is going to put one of the new ACG SEQ active systems in. Looking forward to this bass being finished in the not too distant future. Mr C was as always very helpful and provided plenty of advice and guidance. I'll share the spec shortly.
4. No of course not. In reality the Beatles recorded for only a few short years and holding them responsible for the last 50 years of popular music in general is unreasonable. They songs are in the context of the time in which they were written when the country had just emerged from the post war period of austerity and was looking for a bit of levity. I think the clue is in the genre - popular music - it's what people buy, like it or not. There's a separate discussion about what music is promoted by the industry and whether people would buy the 'mainstream' releases if there was more equal promotion to other styles of music. In the days of home recording, YouTube and the internet the choice has never been wider if you go looking.
5. Ian Anderson was always very demanding of his band and generally employed only the best he could find. I saw him do an accoustic set a year or two ago and that was excellent, I guy playing keys/percussion, one guitarist/bassist and IA, all very low level so he didn't need to strain his voice at all. A good evening had by all in a nice small venue (Burnley Mechanics).
6. Great band Tull. If I've seen them once, I've seen them 20+ times. So many good tunes. Start with Benefit and Stand Up and off you go until maybe Stormwatch then skip A, check out Broadsword and Crest of a Knave. After that I think the qulity is a little more variable, but as ever it's a personal thing. My favourites: Songs from the Wood, Heavy Horses and Minstrel in the Gallery & Thick as a Brick.
7.
I firmly believe that 'analysing' music in this way, although instructive in many ways, is a bit self-defeating. The 'Fab Mop-Tops' or whatever did some great, and some very poor, stuff, as did, and do, most composers, bands, groups or whatever. Don't look for what's not there. You don't have to like or dislike any 'label'. It would be more interesting, perhaps, to listen to music without knowing by whom it was composed/performed. Alas, a bit of a pipe-dream for most of the Beatles stuff, but everyone's vision is treated by the lenses they have acquired over time. Enjoy, just the same, but the very disturbing opening of doors won't come to you now; at least, not through this medium. At 16, and in '66, Revolver was an electroshockkfor me. This, plus he Fairports, the Airplane, the Dead, Zappa, Shakti... the list is long.
This pretty much sums it up for me. I remember buying the LP of Dark Side Of The Moon shortly after it emerged. I listened to it so much I pretty much wore out the grooves in a few weeks and had to buy another. Completely altered my perception of music.
8. I like the early stuff, but you may want to try the so called 'white album' or maybe Rubber Soul.
9. Andy, you're welcome to borrow my Midget but I appreciate that meeting up may be a bit trickier.
10. I've seen the buttons individually but not the strap bits - not that I've searched extensively for them.
11.
.....and the difference is?????
I thought I detected a smidgen more rythmic talent in the Valley - sorry Vally
12.
It wasn't just me then. I could hardly tell the difference, gender aside.
Yeah you can, Meg couldn't drum to save her life, bless her.
13. I have them on both my fretless basses. I like them for many of the reasons above, the slightly lower tension, the feel under the fingers and most importantly the tone they generate. I think they are particularly good on my 35" scale bass, where although the tension is a little higher they seem to really sing. On my Antoria Jazz bass I have the Fender CL9050 flats that are slightly heavier gauge, but still nice under the digit and do seem to produce a very warm sounding tone.
14.
Deap Vally
Sorry I are an inginere and can't spell.
15. I watch Jools regularly for the variety and bands I've not encountered thus far. I've bought several CDs as a result of the show. Beady Eye - not my cup of tea, but still interestingly different enough from Oasis Miguel - A cross between James Brown & Prince in my eyes but at least he has a personality and sells the music KT Tunstall - Wonderful voice OMD - Lovely slice of 80s electronica, nice to hear it again Deep Valley - I'm going to listen some more as they defiinitely grabbed my attention Poet George - Great, more of this I think would be good Just my thoughts...the OP may be a bit harsh in his opinions, but it's a free world (ish). I have tried to bring my kids up with the general view that there's no 'bad' music, just things you like less than other things and to keep an open mind.
16. In my case the issue was eventually resolved. I raised an issue with Paypal and got my money back. I also got an e-mail from minotaur saying the site had been hacked and this was the cause of the problem. The sent me a 10% discount voucher but I didn't use it as I will not be troubling them again with my business.

18. Fairly sure it was his Jazz bass. No idea about strings though, WOT may well be correct. Oh well looks like I'll be 'forced' to spend several happy hours on LZ I to IV and beyond this weekend.
19. In the back of my mind I think that I recall Coca Cola trying to claim IP on the curvy shape of their bottles. I can't remeber the specific details but I've a feeling they were ultimately unsuccessful. Could be completely wrong. Just for the record, in a former life I invented the ball and all its derivatives so will now start taking aggressive legal action against players so that I can save up to buy loads of Rickenfakers, Rockinbetters et al. World domination surely can't be far away.
20. Do you have to pay royalties for recording covers? I ask as we make a concious decision to only record original material when in the studio. That having been said I probably wouldn't want to record a cover in any case, I don't enjoy playing them at gigs too much either. Sadly they seem to be increasingly necessary in pubs and clubs. Will give the recording a listen at the weekend. The previously advertised PH song was nicely done I thought.
21.
Good evening, Simon... A fake watch purporting to be a real watch is one thing; a similarly-shaped guitar with its own brand, inspired by, but not making out to be, is quite another, imho. Anyone buying a fake of whatever is very unlikely to be a customer for the real thing, I think. No sales loss to the real product. Just my opinion, of course.
Exactly, there is a small but significant difference between a fake (designed to deceive) and a copy (design to flatter for want of a better word). The latter being clearly sold as such; otherwise it would be a fake..

23. I had an RBX270F that I upgraded with SD p/ups (vintage style) - nearly went for the Wizard P/J set, high mass bridge and changed to V / V / T controls (from V / B / T). Great basses for projects imho.
24.
Pedant alert. Fenix were made in Korea. And superb instruments they were/are.
25. Decent Westone 2 IEMs or Audio Technica 'phones with the source through a decent headphone amplifier.
