1. Courageous post. Well done and hang in there.
2. I'm in Chorley, the other side of Manchester. My son was at Uni in Nottingham, it used to take us a little over two hours by car, but happy to meet you somewhere convenient.
3. For sale/trade my Warwick Streamer CV Natural Ash This is a German built bass from May 2015 so less than a year old. It is in excellent condition and is a really flexible, passive super jazz type bass. The neck is really smooth and comfortable to play, feeling maybe a little slimmer than the other Jazz in my possession. It also has a beautiful flame finish not to mention a scarf joint for the headstock. The bass weights a little under 8lbs by my bathroom scales, so comfortable to play too. The bass comes with Warwick Rockbag. This has a tear near one end of the handle but safe enough and well padded. Truss rod tool and Allen keys are also present as well as the strap ends of the Warwick Straplocks that are fitted to the bass. There is also the added bonus of a Warwick custom made black/white/black pick guard that I commissioned as I prefer it to the standard fit cream/black/cream item. Here are the specs from the Warwick website. Maple neck and a rosewood board; it will never catch on: German Pro Series Streamer CV 4 Warwick machine heads Just-A-Nut III Flamed Maple neck Rosewood fingerboard Fluorescent Side Dots Fingerboard Radius: 9.5 " Scale length: 34" 21 Jumbo Nickel-silver frets (width: 2,9mm/ height: 1,3mm) Frets: IFT - Invisible Fretwork Technology Body wood: 2pcs Swamp Ash Passive MEC J/J Alnico 5 pickups These basses are around £1,400 new, so grab yourself a bargain at half price. Happy to ship but courier will be at your cost and risk. I will also jump in a car to meet up somewhere within a couple of hours from here (say 100 mile radius). Sale preferred but happy to look at trades. Basses of interest are likely to be 4-string fretted instruments; not too heavy and be quite jazz like in their nature; cash either way.
4. Just purchased a bass from Kert. Really top guy to deal with, very easy transaction and he went out of his way to help with courier arrangements. Deal in confidence fellow BCers.
5. Freddy just bought some pickups from me. A pleasure to deal with and highly recommended, one of the good guys that make BC what it is.
6. If it's any help my Farida P bass weighs in at under 4kgs. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:211856]
7. Gosh, can an arse be cosmetically enhanced? I clearly lead too sheltered a life.
8. Yeah, plenty of good stuff here. Just bought the Paul Rodgers / Muddy Waters CD as I seem to have missed that one.
9. I love fretless basses but having just acquired something else Kert I'm short of sufficient Wonga atm.
10. Yes of course, you're right, I'm wrong. Goodbye.
11. I think there are a few threads on the Dingwall forum about preamps, might be worth a look.
12.
...but there was a two-month period where you didn't chase it up. Is that right? I'm not saying Warwick are blameless - clearly they're not - but maybe if you'd upped the urgency it might have got sorted earlier...?
You're right, how foolish of me to expect a complaint to be dealt with promptly. Rather selfishly I chose to concentrate on the health issues of a close relative during that time.
13. Very nice looking bass Kert.
14. I first contacted Warwick in September about this. I was charged c.€90 for a pickguard that, according to the published spec., should have been fitted from day one.
15. My basses get better when other people play them
16. No, not really. No compo required, just re-imbursement of costs. Plus of course the decency to respond to emails within a reasonable period, and four months to sort a pickguard; really? Compare and contrast with Spector. Try asking PJ something and if it takes more than 48 hours to resolve he's probably on sabatical or off-world somewhere.
17. Warwick have just offered me €20 (less PayPal fees of course which they are too tight to cover) for my months of hassle. So the whole episode would have cost me north or €60, marvellous. I have of course declined. One last attempt with the main man at Warwick, but I'm pretty much done with Warwick. I can guarantee that I will never buy another and I can see this one ending up on evilbay on a no-reserve auction as I don't want anything more to do with it.
18. My fretless basses have the dots where the frets would be. I thought this was the norm for fretless basses?
19. Some mild compression also works well with fretless. Personally I very rarely use a chorus pedal.
20. Try Hundred Seventy Split too, Leo Lyons on bass (ex of 10 years after). We do a few Bonamassa covers that would be 'heavier', in particular have a listen to Dust Bowl.
21. Trickier than I thought, my instant reaction was a 1960 YOB stack knob Jazz in 3TSB. On further reflection I think it might actually be to commission the very nicest passive bass I could think of; probably with two single coil pickups...as for the rest....
22. Just acquired Rich's Ampeg. Another very straightforward deal from a most trusted BCer. Many thanks.
23. Yup, Kev is a top bloke.
