Had my 'growth talk' at work yesterday. A sort of career progression thing that must be really handy for the younger engineers especially.
Boss's first question (admittedly with his tongue firmly in his cheek): "So Rich, where do you see yourself in 5 years..?"
Me: "Retired."
Boss: "Want to expand your skillset? Anything you'd like to do in the meantime?"
Me: "Exactly what I'm doing now will suit me fine, ta."
End of talk.

In the market for a new bass.
Some tough choices!

Ah, interesting. You should have some choice as lots out there. I've always enjoyed Sandberg TTs and currently rocking a very nice Fender Roadworn 60th Anniversary Jazz bass (MIM).
I know these are a bit marmite (the roadworn bit) but I like them. Having said that I have recently acquired an Ibanez Grooveline G104 (essentially a Jazz bass with active and passive options) which I can't seem to put down so at some point the Fender may well go.

I've done a bit of a rambling post on the cost of making stuff in the UK. If you fancy reading me being tedious... it's here :

Guess I need to get out more often.

Fairly clear in the south, but moderate to dense cover in the Midlands and North. Thus concludes todays Stratus Update.

I've never got along with Musicman basses... So why do I suddenly have GAS for a 5 string 'ray? Odd...

Just completed an overseas sale. Lots of extra issues now post-brexit of course but what I wanted to mention was the inclusion of an Apple AirTag.
For £29 we were able to keep an eye on the progress of the bass as it left the Country, got held at customs (very helpful because the courrier tracking suggested it was being delivered at the time), and then tracking in the destination country all the way to it's new home.
Clearly a few quid extra cost but for a higher value transaction a lot of added piece of mind!!!

Mid life crisis in reverse. Have serious GAS for 2-ohm capable amp and more One10s, just because... But my middle-aged brain is telling me to be sensible, my current rig is more than enough and sounds great, so my credit cards is breathing a little easier...
What's wrong with me?

How long do Fender typically keep models in production?
I'm really interested in getting hold of a ultra jazz bass V in mocha burst in the next year or so but not sure if they'll still be manufacturing them. -

Man wants a jazz bass, must sell to get jazz bass. Predicament.
