1. did you get my reply to your message ?
2. Arg too late! Actually I didn't think anyone else in the world used these phones
3. My Hartke LH500 is the bees knees, and louder than an earthquake. I play it through a Behringer 500 watt cab with Aluminum cones which is basically a Harke 2x100 rip off. It gives a pretty neutral sound.
4. That's a great bass. Did you get inspiration from John Entwistles famous and similarly shaped bass ?
5. If you look here it tells you the list for the two TV series.
6. Sounds like a nice bit of kit. Welcome to the forum
7.
Ah, Ben! The real old head on young shoulders. Thank God! Not like those asshole children who think that because they've been to university and got a degree they're a bit 'special'. Hooray!
Degree ? They're giving them away inside boxes of Cornflakes these days aren't they ?
8. I have the BDI21. It cost me about 20 quid. Great little piece of kit. Too cheap to not have one, really. There are no minus points to owning one.
9. Paul Simeon's Ric was given to him by Patty Smith, who fell for him after her first tour here. He tried it and hated it, went back to the Fender P.
10. The thing about these type of unfinished projects, is that you stand a good chance of getting a real piece of crap. I wish i could convince myself of this though. I have bought 3 in 2 years Good luck with yours. Keep on keeping on and one day I might find a 62 P bass
11.
On a more serious note, listen to how the punch, power and fullness diminishes the busier you get
Never a truer word spoken.
12. Bleedin hell, how they get that lot? Everything, but the drum kit and cabs. Was a van of gear stolen ?
13. In my ever so 'umble opine. Get rid of the vocalist and share the duties . A three piece is the ultimate rock set up for showing your stuff. No rhythm guitar to hide behind for the bass or lead. So its sink or swim Though i suppose 4 pieces aren't too bad (see below. Brilliant sparse bass line, at just the right level, from Phil) ps: Cozy Powell on drums. I remember him on TOTP when i was a kid. the only guy ever to have a top 10 hit with a record that was 90% drums !!!! RIP. Phil. Gary, Cozy. Long live Scott (He says Golf saved his life and gave him another addiction than drugs)
14.
I always carry a small towel. About half the size of a tea towel to wipe my hands and clean the strings. I feed it through the handle on the side of the cab & tie it round the bass neck. Works great, very secure & no need to carry a stand.
Now there's a man who thinks ahead
15. Sounds like the Foo fighters all over again.
16. Listened on YouTube and couldn't hear much bass. so I will reserve judgment until I view it on the TV via BBC-I player.
17.
TONK! I've Won! Thank you very much Basschat
Congrats Sir.! I hope you enjoy a special evening.
18. Sorry to hear of your problems. i agree, if someone makes an offer they should be prepared to back it up with cash. Otherwise what on earth are they playing at ?
19. Apologies if its been posted before. This guy plays a mean bass. Look at 2.46 though, does he forget just for a second that he's on bass and go to play the lead part (I spy a lead guitar lurking furtively in the video background) I have looked at several of his vids, the guy's a character and a great player. 20. Tortex 1.14 mm or thereabouts. The slightly larger ones, but not too big. The Dunlop Big Stubby nylons are good too, they have an inlaid thumb shaped bit, to stop it flying off into the corner.
21. Just in case Damian Hirst is reading this. My favorite bass is a 61 jazz too
22. Why in in Londonium ? Surely now Wob is living in sunny Mancunia, it should be played there PS: I haven't washed my hand since he shook it at Bass Day Manchester, and I am definitely playing better
23.
This almost killed the band I'm with now, singer & guitarist wanted a new PA with each of us paying 25%, what happened in the end was the singer, guitarist & drummer paid a third each and when one of them leaves the other 2 buy him out at market value, I don't sing and don't use the PA so refused to pay which didn't go well but meh.
^^^^^^^ This is the correct answer for bass player. If they don't use the PA
24. Yeah a bit sluggish today. Definitely. The site I mean. Not me
25. Maybe talk to other band members about moving on as a unit, if this isn't stopped, But now wifey is involved to sooth singers fevered brow thats not likely is it. Id just go if its stopped being fun. sounds like you are accomplished musicians who shouldnt have too much trouble getting it back together.
