1. Classic Trace head, probably the best model in my opinion. 250watts of superb power and punch from the tone of the GP11pre amp that gets your cut/projection through the mix. The amp is built like a tank and quite heavy - with a real transformer! Very quiet and works perfect with the exception of the tiny eq and pre amp buttons -they don't push in/out. However the modes can be operated by a footswitch or even pushing in a jack plug in the F/switch jack socket. I've always left it in the graphic mode anyway, you don't really need anything else. If you've got a class D amp, you may bite your lip sometimes wishing you'd gone traditional again because somethings not quite right, however, as you may have paid a fortune for it.... (thats just my opinion)
2. Nothing, I replaced it with the SPB3 because of oversize magnets etc and a higher output. I play in a classic rock band now ACDC Lizzy and all that and this calls for extra woomph. I tried to do it with a Musicman but it didn't work for me. Thanks for your interest
3. Ive just re-weighed the bass on another set of scales for potential packaging/price and the bass alone weighs 4lbs not 3.8lbs as stated. No big deal and it's typical of JVs. Also, the colour looks dark green on some shots but the flash plays tricks, it is black. Geoff
4. Spaghetti logo. These early models caused a conflict with Fender, they didn't like it. Lawsuit if you like. Funny how the woods in the 82-83 USA Fenders, Fenders up to 73', 82-83 JV's and early Tokai basses give the basses a warm tone, punchy, and an even volume across the strings (including pre CBS of course) and are much sought after. I've replaced the original pickup - which is A1, with a Seymour SPB3. As the pole pieces in the SD are big, it does make it a very loud bass. Has some dings on the body as you would expect. Frets still good with no fret buzz. Truss rod works fine. Nut width 40mm Weight 3.9kg 8.6lbs. Original p/u included New set of 45-105 Rotosound round wound strings on. Tatty case included.
5. Sorry jahfish, Everything's happened so quickly, it's been sold, pending payment. Sorry for those who were very interested and in comms, I had to take first come first served. Geoff
6. Eden World Tour Series. 400watts of pure power into 4 ohms (235w into 8 ohms). Tube pre amp section. Enhance control parametric eq. Compression. Superior components Perfect working order Includes flight case as shown and copy of owners manual.
7. Can't get my head around why they should put a 70's headstock decal on in 82. Thought it would have prefix E rather than S. Still, I've had basses with this confusion. GLWTS Geoff
8. Hi Papi, I've only just mastered the 4 string!
9. You're too far away, I'd luv em - can't beat a real speaker
10. Lots of interest but I think it's that time of year for cash. Trades considered with some cash for this investment. Possibly a JV Precision or 60's Mustang.
11. Well, maybe. I'm getting on a bit now and find it tiring in a morning after a gig - and that's with pints of orange squash.
12. Weight = 4kg....8.8lbs nice and light for a Stingray, you don't get the massive bottom and piercing top like the later stuff.
13. Original pre-Ernie Ball 77' Stingray in sunburst/maple neck. Pre Straight neck. Has been re-fretted sometime in the past 39 years and you can understand it because its a great feel and you want to play it. Quite warm sounding.105-45's fitted. See this link for history info: http://www.musicmanb...org/default.htm http://www.musicmanb...tompage0019.htm Buckle rash on the back of body but I can't explain extent due to personal interpretation, but its typical. Could imagine Leo walking past it in assembly. Includes case My feedback http://basschat.co.u...-geoff90guitar/
14. Have a bump on me, best model made
15. Ive been asked a few times what model is ...so here we go I'm fairly certain the model is called 'Fender American Precision S1' The S1 switch was an innovation by Fender from about 2002 but was dropped back to a standard 250k pot in I think 2008. From that point on Fender called it the American Standard. So really it's an American Standard with the bonus of an S1 switch. The bass gives a typical P bass sound, but when the button of the S1 switch is pushed in, it gives a thinner sound, probably incorporated for jazzers or slappers.
16. Price includes postage and insurance to UK mainland.
17. My feedback: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/73703-feedback-for-geoff90guitar/page__p__3075672__hl__geoff90guitar__fromsearch__1#entry3075672
18. Very good condition. Two minor paint chips, tiny dink in neck with no affect to player, very mild scuffs on rear of body obviously from natural rub not buckle. S1 switch. Truss rod fine etc. There are no holes in the scratch plate for the pickup ashtray, neither for the fingers rest. I suppose style of playing has moved on from the old thumb playing. (I still occasionally use my thumb for that fat sound, sometimes in a waltz - whats that nowadays?) Colour reminds me of a fairground toffee apple, looks brighter in spots. Covers included. Case included.
19. Bought a beautiful Stingray off David. Exactly as described. Forwarded copies of I.D. etc. Good packaging, fully tracked from Germany. I'm very pleased with the transaction and would buy from David again with no hesitation.
20. Nice guy Mark. Had nostalgic chat about gigs, cup of coffee, deal done. No messing with Mark. Recommend trading. Hope you enjoy the bass Mark...we may meet again! Best regards Geoff
21. Bass was put 'on hold'. The potential buyer was let down with the sale of 'his' bass, so this bass is back on sale again.
