Ok. Thanks for those nice words lads. No.1 is slightly cheaper because it has non original pickup, but sounds the same. (Fender original 62 Precision reissue) Its condition is not quite as good as the other white...because of plenty of use of course. Unusual on this one because it doesn't have reverse tuners but still original. It is also a bit lighter (they're all normally around 4kg), again to me they sound alike...warm, punchy and balanced notes all the way up Whites have more or less the same neck profiles. Sunburst neck has a slightly shallower feel. No.1 26/5/83 No.2 26/11/82 No.3 31/5/83 Please message an email if theres more hunger and I'll send close-ups Strange why the 82 -83 USA Precisions are demanding a high price...same era as JV's. Wonder if the woods came from the same place! Geoff -

That's a very nice suggestion Gar. I've got one of those in the house. You're right it's brilliant. I think it's a twin cone which helps to fatten. Anyway, Ive been thinking about selling the 100 Cube which is tucked away in the back room but the grandkids use it with a couple of my old mics. I did use it in a small pub the other week and was adequate...3db and all that. Thanks again. Geoff -

BTW is this a similar thing to an fDeck HBF unit?
-
Ok dood thanks. I'll look into that tomorrow

Ok pro, thanks for that, it's given me confidence to continue with my Trace and Bergs. It's just that this new stuff goes up and up in power. Personally I've never ruined a speaker over the 53 years I've been gigging. I'd like to think I can go another 10years, maybe then I'll use matchbox gear.
-
Oh I must be mistaken, I've read that under powering speakers to distortion can damage just as much as overpowering? What blows a speaker then? I'll leave well alone then eb.
-
I've got two Berg HT112 cabs and Im driving them with a Trace SMX300. It's a fabulous sound but these cabs are hungry and at times I feel I could use even more power but I don't want to destroy the speakers by distortion. Best Trace only went up to about 400W, but these cabs really need a good feed with about 900W up them. Unfortunately with the power requirement, I've had to go class D amps and I'm just keeping interest. I'm thinking of replacing the Berg speakers with a common Eminence 250W so that my SMX300 would be happier. Is this an expensive experiment? I'm sure the cab size would be fine with the new speakers.

'SOLD' Trace Elliot Bass amp AH130S Series 6 £80
geoff90guitar replied to geoff90guitar's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Pburrows, The amp was sold to me as being 300w of which I paid good money for. The original photo did look like 300 handwritten in the 'Model' block on the back. I spoke to the seller on the phone and they said it looked like 300 so I bought it. As I mentioned, I opened up to double check and the transformer is labelled 130W. hence the price. However, it is a very loud amp for its rating. Thanks for another site Dad3353 -

I bought this as a back up amp described in an advert as 300W. I love Trace sound (very non Hifii, makes bass sound like bass not a piano) I had a non electrical shock when I opened up the amp to check the Transformer rating and it's a 130W. The model type indicated on the back does look like 300 and I paid over the odds for this. It however does seem much more powerful than it's rating, as all early Trace models do. I could just imagine this driving a Barefaced cab with the efficient speaker/s. There is a snapped slider but is still fully functional. Bargain at the price. Geoff Coseley, West Mids Please email for pics. Photobucket now want around $400 for uploading pictures for 3rd party?!!. Anybody any suggestions to upload pictures now? I've been using photo bucket for ages without a problem. https://s1.postimg.o...1agsf/ https://s1.postimg.o...osh3z/image.jpg https://s24.postimg....51lt1/image.jpg https://s3.postimg.o...axn2r/image.jpg Thanks TheGreek, I've used 'postimage' as suggested in your link and produced these pics. They come with the baggage surround and not as good as photo bucket but not bad. Cheerio photo bucket.

*SOLD* Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II head 700w. £340
geoff90guitar replied to geoff90guitar's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Thanks for your comments lads. Rather than complicate matters with speaker cable connection, if you don't use a GK cab with a built in tweeter, typically use standard speakon leads as I do. The standard leads should be two core wiring connected to pins +1 and -1 in the speakons (you shouldn't need to look) The tweeter knob on the amp only works with the 'special' GK speaker cabinet when using speakon leads with all 4 pin connections. This way you don't distort the tweeter in the GK cab as it retains independent clean power (50W) when turning up the tweeter control. Normal cabs have the tweeter control on the cab, thus taking a bit of distortion. I've used two standard 2 core speakon leads with my Bergs (tweeter control in the cabs) - don't know why I'm selling this!?! but that's me. May take a bit to get your head round it, but smart idea. http://gallienkrueger.mivamerchant.net/wp-content/uploads/700rb_1001rb.pdf -
