1. Original pre-Ernie Ball 77' Stingray in sunburst/maple neck. Pre Straight neck. Has been re-fretted sometime in the past 39 years and you can understand it because its a great feel and you want to play it. Quite warm sounding.105-45's fitted. See this link for history info: http://www.musicmanb...org/default.htm http://www.musicmanb...tompage0019.htm Buckle rash on the back of body but I can't explain extent due to personal interpretation, but its typical. Could imagine Leo walking past it in assembly. Includes case My feedback http://basschat.co.u...-geoff90guitar/
2. Ive been asked a few times what model is ...so here we go I'm fairly certain the model is called 'Fender American Precision S1' The S1 switch was an innovation by Fender from about 2002 but was dropped back to a standard 250k pot in I think 2008. From that point on Fender called it the American Standard. So really it's an American Standard with the bonus of an S1 switch. The bass gives a typical P bass sound, but when the button of the S1 switch is pushed in, it gives a thinner sound, probably incorporated for jazzers or slappers.

4. Very good condition. Two minor paint chips, tiny dink in neck with no affect to player, very mild scuffs on rear of body obviously from natural rub not buckle. S1 switch. Truss rod fine etc. There are no holes in the scratch plate for the pickup ashtray, neither for the fingers rest. I suppose style of playing has moved on from the old thumb playing. (I still occasionally use my thumb for that fat sound, sometimes in a waltz - whats that nowadays?) Colour reminds me of a fairground toffee apple, looks brighter in spots. Covers included. Case included.
5. Bought a beautiful Stingray off David. Exactly as described. Forwarded copies of I.D. etc. Good packaging, fully tracked from Germany. I'm very pleased with the transaction and would buy from David again with no hesitation.
6. Nice guy Mark. Had nostalgic chat about gigs, cup of coffee, deal done. No messing with Mark. Recommend trading. Hope you enjoy the bass Mark...we may meet again! Best regards Geoff
7. Bass was put 'on hold'. The potential buyer was let down with the sale of 'his' bass, so this bass is back on sale again.
8. Thought that one was coming. Gone to bed now' will measure in the morning. What is your preference anyway, point of interest?
9. Original body finish and generally very good condition for age with obvious marks from gigging with it. I changed the original pickups for Seymour Duncan SB-3 with the reason being I thought it would sound even better - we're all looking for something better which generally isn't there. The SB-3 is just a tad louder obviously. I've left the SB-3 in and will include the original working pickup with the sale. The scratchplate has silver foil added (not by me) for the purpose of screening - entirely unnecessary. Truss rod fine. May have to tweak for personal setup. At sometime, the neck has been dressed. Unsure about originality of the the ash-trays, I can’t tell the difference and I play better with them off anyway. Fender case included but I'm taking the stickers off. I'm not going to harp on with a sad tale about selling. The bass is warm punchy and has balanced volume across the strings. I'm still gigging with it. Daft innit. 10. I know Daz is more interested in a sale, but I fully agree on every point with The groovy-plucker. Interesting point to be aware of when shipping TC Electronic RS cabs. The tweeter is screwed to the back of one of the speakers. Once I had a cab sent back to me with the guy saying one of the speakers is distorting. Could not understand why for ages. What had happened was that the cab had been abused in transit. The weight of the 'piggy back tweeter had been jolted somehow and developed a hairline bend in the rim of the speaker frame. I always take pics of my packaging, stage by stage and it did help me get compensation from Interparcel.
11. I have a similar problem with the E string sounding a bit dull on both my JV and 72 Precisions and I've concluded its the size of the slot in the nut. On my old Encore Precision what I use for home practice, the E string 'rings' like the other three strings, no matter what E string is put on. That includes swapping over the strings that sounded dull on the other two. The E' slot in the nut is slightly bigger on the Encore, so that the string seats in slightly better. However, I'm a bit hesitant to start filing! Perhaps the nuts were NOT made to accept the 105's because they were patterned on original models when strings weren't as thick..don't know about that one.
12. Doesn't help with the sale but I've also got the shallower trace cabs. I found the Ashdown cabs seem constipated in comparison to the cels.
13. Very powerful. 250watts. Valve preamp. Made in UK. etc etc. Truly great classic bass amp made by purely a bass amp manufacturer at the time. The amp was part of a Trace combo but I struggled to carry the combo. So, I cut the woodwork and made a new bottom for the new head. The amp is all original with no issues whatsoever (the valve must be worth a few bob) The amp is easily manageable now and the sale is for the amp head as in the picture. 17. No, the neck plate hasn't been changed as far as I'm concerned. Totally original. That's a fantastic bit of detection work. Why should the decal be correct and where did you get this info from? Always understood the JVs were between 82 & 84.
