Barefaced and a Valve amp. But which one??
Salt on your Bass? replied to FuNkShUi's topic in Amps and Cabs
Check ampstack on Facebook - that's foxens sales page and they normally all double list. I'd recommend burman as well - lovely amps weren't right for my band though. -
Love my Nexus - Use it with a Barefaced Big Twin 2 or retro 610....or both. Full featured, modern tub amp. Fet channel and valve channel on the pre provides a huge amount of flexibility and some other nice touches on the front panel which are all really easily adjusted - switched on or off if you want them or not. 8, 4 or 2 ohms and 400w its a beast. Only challenge is getting valve grind out of it due to the power. A bit heavy but big transformers and nice glowing bottles. Good review here from dood, I dont have any experience with the cabs: http://www.iguitarmag.com/magazine-editions/guitar-interactive-issue-11/reviews/laney-nexus-tube-head-and-nx810-cabinet/

Hi All, Been wondering about the benefits of the Rivera Rock Crusher and whether anyone has had any studio experience with it? Reason I'm interested is to get power drive out of my 400w laney in a studio is hardwork and I havent had the best of success with it previously - this seemed like a good solution with future flexibility with cab sim.....? still building my knowledge on this really but heres a link: http://www.rivera.com/product/attenuators-cab-sims/rockcrusher-recording/ http://www.rivera.com/product/attenuators-cab-sims/rockcrusher/

My band don't like coming home with me to schelp it up two flights of stairs from 30 yards down the road..... I like having big cabs that I can carry around myself (excluding any tonal considerations i find as a plus with them) the weight is a bonus but not my sole consideration.
You can only truly appreciate a Barefaced cab when you're over 52!!
No way! I've taken the fat fighters approach to cabs - they weigh half as much, so you can have twice as many!

4ohm Lightweight & powerful carriable cab for small-mid gigs
Salt on your Bass? replied to DanH71's topic in Amps and Cabs
Get yourself a decent trolley - sack barrow and you can carry way more cab way more easily. I used to do a compact and midget on a good trolley all over London and it's a breeze - tube and bus. It'll significantly increase your options. -

Very much enjoyed this in rehearsal - although my frame of reference is limited against other 610s - i got it a bit growly pushing the amp a little and notice it has a much more vintage feel and sound to my BT2, but I found it felt a bit "bigger" across the range, and in super lows by comparison I didnt feel it quite had the authority of the BT2 but with super lows I'm talking about a sub - dont get me wrong, it still sounded good but as a direct comparison, that's how it felt. I'll report back once its gigged in may - the band next door in our rehearsal room complained a little about the bass being too loud in our sound proofed room.... -
...er....212s and a 610??!! Only thing I think is something that includes a crossover downlow and can put out 20hz or lower as part of the cab .....3 or 4 12s, horn/ waveguide for highs and a PA sub included for some mega mega lows...? Id be interested in it but I prefere my current modular set up i think.

Hi, I have a message in to ampeg, but wondered if there was experience of knowledge here? I picked up an SVT7 pro in a trade and it has since gone pop. Struggling with the seller getting hold of the receipt and wondered if there was any experience with warranty repairs in the UK - is Panic still going as I couldn't find it?? These are pretty notorious amps and even though rev C has still managed to go bang. Not a good advert for peg again, any info or experiences welcome. Cheers

I'll post up the full rig once up but this Retro Six Ten has just arrived so will be using it with my 400w Laney Nexus Tube. Looked at the sft, vt or cog? That's where I'd start for drive I think if I didn't run valves. Looking at cog and sft at the mo anyway.... Never have too many flavours of dirt
