Get into a shop and try them - anything said on here will be subjective.

In terms of guitars, I've had a MIM Strat, a Jap strat and a US strat. The MIM was just a decent guitar made of slightly flimsier hardware and a narrower neck. The Jap was precise but dead to me. The US (90s) was a dream purchase for me but I found the sound deadish. The neck was excellent but I found it hard to adjust to the slightly wider neck after the MIM. The best value in the range, IMO, is the Classic Player. Currently got a Thinline Cabronita and the neck is outstanding! Basswise - had a MIM Jazz and it was decent but I've had better from ESP/LTD.

Bet you came home and couldn't plug in because you forgot to buy a cable?

7string on here uses Stewmac a lot. pm him cos I don't think he's ever had a duty problem.

Alesis iO2 I use - about £70.

I like some of his stuff but there's a lack of earthiness due to his pantomime approach.

Further from post 199..... Fender Thinline Cabronita Shoreline Gold. Classic Prayer Series. Great deal in Merchant City Music so I bought the tweed case too. Really lovely axe for what it is designed to do. In my work, we have a wee band with staff and pupils. A teacher skipped using his PRS SE SC and a pupil his US Strat (as used by Judas Priest) to use it in a gig. Funnily enough, both commented on how you can really tell an American Fender until I showed them the 'MiM' on the headstock! A keeper. I have a 1 in, 1 out rule in the home - 1 electric, 1 bass and 1 acoustic but if I ever hanker after another guitar this one is getting hidden.

ESP Ltd vintage series. Brand new just over £300 and second hand in the low hundreds. Outstanding.

Anyone advise on a cheap fretless? Birthday in February and feel that my sexy funky grooviness will be enhanced by said purchase.
