1. Brilliant looking bass in the flesh. Was looking at one in Glasgow. Wow!
2. Lovely bass. Gtr Gtr Glasgow have a walnut one... And a ruby for a prevposter... Oops...just noticed the Walnut Ricky fred!
3. Just checked my dog and indeed the mutt's nuts have been transfered to your bass.
4. Do Cort not make a lot of the Squier brand? Re-sale values though dictate the Fender.
5. I have the maple fingerboard version of the ESP LTD 'Vintage' bass. For the money (2nd hand about £180 I think) it's a belter of a buy.
6. Really liked that! Was like watching Genesis with a singer! Like the guitarist's attempted Stuermer facial hair!
7. Austerity? Also - on eBay, like real auctions, some dealers buy to keep the market afloat.
8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7PabnaXIfY One of the great bass lines ever!
9.
How good is he ?? Well .... good enough that The Nightfly would be amongst the half dozen or so CD's I'd buy on the day the insurance cheque landed after my house had burned down. Apart from the great songs , the effortless fusion of jazz influence into pop , and the concept of a young man's hopes, dreams and experiences , the album is a who's who of top US session bass players. It should be essential homework for anyone who visits this site. I might add that Mr F is a master of a craft I've fought tooth and nail to master all my life. The ability to use your bland and limited singing voice and work with it to the greatest advantage. Bandana , Ushanka , scooter helmet , beany hat that my wife knitted me and Afrika Corps cap all well and truly doffed.
10.
I've just been watching this and now I've got GAS for a fretless ray. I'm not sure I even know why!! Damn you Basschat!
That's brilliant mate - ta!
11. Phone straight away and log it.
12.
We had the pleasure to support and meet Wilko and Norman back in Jan of this year, it lived up to all my expectations and more, even got Norm to play my P after their sound check That night will stay in my memory for a long time. edit. Give me a chance to post this again
Look at the length of those big beefy fingers! That's cheating!

14. If you want mate, I'll look after your Status.....
15.
The reason why the precision bass was called the precision bass was because the frets made intonation more precise. Fender were moving away from fretless in the 50's and 60's, not towards it. Possibly because they wanted to tap the guitarist market, as has been suggested.
Genuinely never knew that!
16.
I'm trying to work out what the point of this post is.
Just background mate...just background. It relates to the fact that the greatest innovator in bass guitars had a blind spot. I copied and pasted it as I didn't want to appear all 'know-all-like" by putting it into my own words. Now - give me your 4th best team in Europe football top in 1967 as reparation!
17.
Just read on the BBC website that Bowie won best male artist. I have no particular problem with that but it must say something about the state of our young talent at the moment. Guess he's not too popular in Scotland right now though.
The New York living genius has every right to express an opinion about Scottish Independence through the London, UK clothes horse that is Kate Moss.

19. Wiki The first fretless bass guitar was made by Bill Wyman in 1961 when he converted an inexpensive Japanese fretted bass by removing the frets.[sup][19][/sup][sup][20][/sup] The first production fretless bass was the Ampeg AUB-1 introduced in 1966, and Fender introduced a fretless Precision Bass in 1970. Around 1970, Rick Danko from The Band began to use an Ampeg fretless, which he modified with Fender pickups—as heard on the 1971 Cahoots studio album and the Rock of Ages album recorded live in 1971.[sup][21][/sup][sup][22][/sup] Danko said, "It's a challenge to play fretless because you have to really use your ear."[sup][23][/sup] In the early 1970s, fusion-jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius created his own fretless bass by removing the frets[sup][24][/sup] from a Fender Jazz Bass, filling the holes with wood putty, and coating the fretboard with epoxy resin.[sup][25][/sup] Some fretless basses have "fret line" markers inlaid in the fingerboard as a guide, while others only use guide marks on the side of the neck. Tapewound (double bass type) and flatwound strings are sometimes used with the fretless bass so the metal string windings do not wear down thefingerboard. Some fretless basses have epoxy coated fingerboards to increase the fingerboard's durability, enhance sustain, and give a brighter tone.
20. Does Voldemort make basses?
21.
This showed up this morning. I'm trying to work out exactly why but the clues are; 1) I've wanted one for an age 2) I have spoken to my girlfriend about it 3) She asked if I might be in early morning 4) It is Valentine's Day Very cool of her.
A keeper......and so is the girlfriend!
22. Warwick introduced the Streamer CV - Classic Vintage - bass at NAMM 2013. Now Peter Baltes of Accept ordered his own Custom Shop Streamer CV according to his personal needs. This bass comes with a Red Alder body, a Maple neck and a Rosewood fingerboard with a 7,5" radius equipped with dot inlays. Peter Baltes' Streamer CV is fired with active EMG P/J pickups combined with passive MEC electronics. The ultimate highlight of this bass is obviously the special metal finish with the matching aged hardware and details. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dFECkHGmkg
