2.
Hhhnngggg! Must... log out...
no don't do that, just pop to the cash point & log some cash out instead
 3.
I'd buy this right away if it was the sunburst one - I've done plenty of reading up on these models and I've read nothing but glowing reviews about them. Don't be put off by the fact that it's made in Mexico.
thanks for that Frusty sunburst is an old mans colour you want a red one,you know you do the glowing reviews are correct too. i tried 2 MIA P basses against this one & it won hands down, unfortunately i now want a new motorbike so need to sell something.
 4.
Where are they made? which pickup?
hi Tom made in Mexico & are outstanding quality-easily as good as a MIA reissue. pickup is a U.S. standard & i'm told the hardware is as per Fender Custom shop lovely these Roadworn's not to be confused with the 50's classic P bass,it's a whole world better. cheers.
 5. it's a real shame you have to sell this Rich,it's a beautiful bass to be shure,if only i was a rich man. good look with the sale mate.
 6.
hmmm.. whats the neck like on this? is it proper wide n' chunky p bass style? whats the width at nut? cheers
the neck is lovely, similar to my old MIA 62RI neck, wide but not mega deep, very comfortable in fact. nut width is 1.75" which i believe is what Fender list on their web site. build quality is excellent all round. cheers
 7. i'll post some pic's as soon as i get home from work chaps. then it'll be first come first served
 8. the bass is only 2 months old & in mint condition well apart from the factory relic job of course. it is a beautiful bass indeed & sounds very authentic 60's P bass, looks amazing too with it's nice "knackered nitro' finish. sat down and playing accousticly you get a nice thump in the chest with each note, just like a P bass should. the strings are still factory fresh & the bass plays beautifully with a rather nice setup, evem if i do say so myself. it comes with the original "deluxe" gig bag that came with it. price is £550.00 ,cash only please, collected or i will meet up with you somewhere not too far from Harrogate. cheers. any questions just ask away.
 9. you should get yourself to a decent shop & play every jazz you can & then buy your favourite, which will most probably be a roadworn---these are awsome believe me,miles & miles better than the classic 60's. i've owned many jazz's,including '62 & '75 reissues,& the roadworn just blows all of them out of the water (including the new american std imo)
 10. if this was then i'd have snapped this up,but i'm both skint & sorted now. good luck with the sale though mate.
 11.
Whichever one I could resell for the highest price so I could get a decent bass.
looks like you need a decent bass as i can't spot one on your sig'
 12. definately the LPB stacker if it was me. i used to have a U.S. 62 RI j in LPB a few years ago,but like the bass trading slag i am i sold it on.
 13.
Thanks guys. Just used her at band practice, very good indeed, and a much smoother sound than my other precisions.
nice bass mate congrat's
 14. i had a Gibson SG bass fairly recently & very nice it was too, excellent for blues & classic rock. after a good setup it certainly didn't rattle very comfortable to play but since i'm now in a funk band it was no good for that,so i had to move it on.
 15. for me i'd go with comfort first,if i feel comfortable playing the instrument then i will play it much better. infact i've just sold my 'ray & gone back to a jazz & i'm loving it to bits, one or two lines that were a stretch on the 'ray are a piece of piss on the jazz. it's a no brainer for me. + you can always buy an active pre-amp for the jazz if you want that "deep" tone.
 16.
I did a review on here of the same bass. It's in the reviews section. Yes, they're worth every penny, but you can get them as low as £799 if you shop around. Definitely a cut above the rest.
+1 bang on Rich' that is what i paid for mine & it's definately worth every penny & more, infact i was that impressed i have now bought a road worn Precision in the same colour £729.00 for that
 17.
I must admit they look great but I just can't gte my head around the Mexi tag! Hi, Alan! I decided to come back.
don't let the Mexican tag bother you, these are nothing like your usual Mexican fayre, classic 60's included. these are in a totally different league in all respects.
 18.
Might have to sell it if one or two of these don't go Boiler & rads problems, thank God it's not winter. You mean this one?
OOOHHHHH THATS NICE. if i'd not bought another bass last saturday i'd have been sniffing after this lovely jazzer, but i'm skint again now. hope you get sorted Tom.
 19.
As others have mentioned already in this thread, it all depends on what you like the sound of and the feel of best. I could sit here shouting "New American Standard Fender Jazz or Precision, Gibson Thunderbird, MusicMan 2EQ Stingray, second hand Shuker Jazz, second hand Status, Warwick", etc, etc, etc (ad infinitum!), but you're better off getting off your arse & visiting some music shops to find your ideal £1k bass. You'll know it's your bass when you feel just right playing it & love the sound it produces. Then again, you could take someone's advice and buy something unseen off the interweb, receive it, hate it & sell one of us a total bargain on the classifieds on here in a few weeks...
+1 words of wisdom if i ever heard 'em
 20.
I would prefer one of these... http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0131800300 Don't know about UK prices though.
they are a nice bass indeed,i had one,but not in the same league as the RW.
 21.
Thanks for the information, I haven't tried many new Fenders and I can't say I've been madly impressed by the ones I have tried. They seem well made, solid instruments, but the sound seems thin compared to my old bass. It might just be the new roundwound strings that put me off - Now I want to get my hands on a RW. - They should fit them with 10 year old flats
you mean road worn strings i wouldn't put it past them. i think you may like the RW's they certainly have that "old" feel to them.
 22.
That's quite a statement considering the price difference - did you compare the AV directly with the RW ? Is the RW basically the same bass as the Classic series, with no difference apart from the relic finish and the price ? I tried a Squier CV but it sounded thin and modern compared to my old '63 jazz.
i couldn't do a direct comparison between the two as there was no AV basses in the shop at the time, but i have been playing Fender J & P basses for the last 31 years & have owned more than i care to remember, including various AV models ('62P '62J & a '75 J),& trust me these 'ere RW basses are equally as good. I can gaurantee if you play one you will be impressed with it,as long as the "made in mexico" logo on the reverse of the head stock doesn't bother you. + i fairly recently owned a classic series 60's jazz bass & whilst it was a really nice bass it was absolute leagues away from the RW in all respects, the RW bass sounds much better & the build quality is extremely high. i did do a direct comparison between my RW & a classic 50's P they had in stock & there was no comparison at all,the classic 50's didn't sound anywhere near as good, feel anywhere near as good & had no where near the bulit quality of the RW. infact i was only supposed to be spending around the £500.00 mark but you know what happens to those kind of plans.
 23.
*Smiles* I played that Road Worn Precision when I was there last week - Congrats, it's a really nice bass! I ended up walking out with the 50th Anniversary Jazz, though. Did you try the Sandberg Panther 5 they have there? I really liked that one, had it not been for the cosmetic damage on it, I might have bought it. Rich.
it is a lovely bass & now i've set it up it's amazing to play & sounds absolutley fantastic,no need to change or mess with anything at all. i love these road worn basses,i was never a "relic" fan but these things are amazing quality instruments, easily as good as an american vintage re-issue & the tone of them "wow". i didn't try the Sandbergs i'm afraid,i tried a jazz style one a while back & didn't gel with it at all + 5 strings is just to many for me congrats on the 50th anniversary jazz, they look gorgeous but are a tad out of my budget at the mo',have you put a review of it up ? you know something to fire up my GAS
