  1. The SVT III is clean with minimal breakup. The SV gives it that valvey grunt as if playing through an all valve SVT and gives much more harmonic content and more breakup
  2. Squier Mike Dirnt (Green Day) signature bass. A squier has no right to sound this good! Easily the loudest bass i have and kept a £1000 jazz bass in the rack it sounded so good live. Ive been lucky enough to get a nice old Fender P so letting this go. Only mods ive done was adding flat top knobs instead of the cheaper looking dome tops and fitted a thumb rest for comfort. If thats an issue a new guard can be had for not many pennies. Great working bass that is a real looker. Can chuck in a brand new Fender gig bag if needed
  3. Do have a fan, mines not noisy at all and im guessing its the original fan. Certainly quieter than my previous ABM
  4. I had one years ago, sold it then spent years looking for another only for one to come up in a local shop. Really nice amps, no gain knob so dont do full on dirt but a very nice open and slightly growly clean SVT tone. Also bomb proof which helps
  5. Banished to the back room whilst our living room and dining room are redecorated. My number one and number two into a cali76, a Bassrig supervintage, SVT III non pro and an early 15” barefaced compact. Always with flatwounds 👌
  6. Not much interest here so going to pull it for now and see if i can get it to work for me using my recently acquired Bassrig Super Vintage. Always like the tone of the jazz i just find my p bass sounds more 'even' across the board and i dont drop out of the mix as much as when i use the jazz. Its absolutely down to user error so i need to up my game Back up as i have a P bass incoming now. I should have sufficient packing for UK postage if needed shortly or as always meet ups are a possibility
  7. I did a deal a while back involving my MIJ 57 RI P bass and a a 75RI Jazz Bass he had. Nice genuine guy, as pointed out his prices are a little rich but has some lovely stuff
  8. Todays GAS brought to you in association with AngryWife.com - Vintera II P bass in sunburst

  9. Alas i think as with most of the 75RI’s it is 60’s spec spacing
  10. Weight is a smidge under 10lbs on the luggage scales and ill get pics of the scratch on the back asap
  11. Excellent condition japanese Fender Jazz bass. I think the 90’s japanese reissues are as close as you get to the vintage instruments but without the price tag. This one has had new pickups (originals will come with the bass also) which are the superb Tonerider pickups. Electrics were upgraded at the time too as the cheap japanese pots were noisy and the tone pot didnt seem to do much at all. It had a full setup 2 weeks ago at PSG Guitars in Bury where the current elites Groundwound strings were installed. The is one finish scratch to the back as photo’d and a few playing swirls here and there. I dont believe the pickguard is original to the bass as its needs a tiny bit if fettling round the bell plate to sit fully flush. Finally that is a real genuine 70’s bridge cover. Only reason for selling is my p basses are getting more action and i have a rickenbacker itch i want to scratch. Can be seen, tested and played here in Bolton. **Postage is possible within UK as i do have a packing box but no case. Would be well packed though** Would consider a part ex with cash my way for a black Dirnt sig bass (ideally fender but would consider the Squier)
  12. Todays GAS - Fender Mike Dirnt Sig in Black

  13. Aw man, how did i miss this! Lovely bass
  14. One of my all time "want to try" amps!

      Welcome back!

  16. Origin Effects - either Super Vintage or Blackface a nice Precision Cheapo Ampeg PF350 for backup
  17. I recently purchased an Ampeg SVT III Non Pro (hybrid - valve pre, solid state power) and noticed when trying to date it using the serial number that it was made for the European market at 220v. Is it safe to use this in the UK without modification or step down transformers? A google search varies from 'its fine' to 'your house will set on fire and burn all your loved ones alive'! I did notice that the 12AX7's get particularly hot compared to other hybrids I've had but some suggest these old Ampegs apply real life voltage to their pre's so that may explain that
  18. Another cosmetically damaged item from G4M. Looks like its taken a hit to the front and back. Also needs some KT88’s but could be a bargain for someone? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276698568692?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=pv7TW8hZRvG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=oN5XbKSRQjS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

  19. Agreed, looks like they used old railway lines!
  20. Anyone seen this absolute stunner over at BD? https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/fender-precision-bass-3-tone-sunburst-1966-pre-owned/
  21. Amazing amps. I did read somewhere the 10.1 had reliability issues and the 5.1 was more solid but like you say, great sounding amps very similar to the Mesa Big Block in tone
  22. I have been borrowing our rehearsal spaces SVT 3 pro whilst i source a decent pre-amp/DI pedal and encountered an issue at our last gig. Mid set it cut out, the power light remained on but the gain/peak light wasn't blinking as if the amp wasn't receiving signal. It seemed to kick back in and out a few times and i eventually finished the gig on a DI box via FOH. Immediate thoughts were cables but upon setting the amp back up at home with the same cables i was unable to recreate the issue. This leads me to think it may have been an over heating issue (i was unable to crank it at home). However, on opening the amp up i noticed that there was a 12AX7 in place of the 12AU7 so i immediately replaced that. Is there any reason why using the wrong valve here would make it cut out? Could understand it not sounding great but would a wrong valve here cause overheating/cutting out issues?
  23. Great instrument lead from John after mine suffered a mid-gig breakdown. Great lead and top service
