  1. A lovely Jazzer just popped up over at BB https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1965-fender-jazz-bass-2/
  2. I have the 330 and this doesnt happen to me. Defo think there is something amiss there
  3. I had an early Japanese Yamaha chorus pedal back in the day and it nailed that Duff tone. Simple little three knob effort it was, cheap at the time but as with most Japanese stuff from 80's its probably rocketed in value!
  4. Looking to massively simplify my rig. As such my modest pedal board is on the block:- Origin Effects 64 Black Panel i have the original box and instructions somewhere £275 posted in UK Fulltone Mosfet Bass Drive unboxed but in great condition £225 posted in UK Korg DR10 tuner unboxed but in great condition £30 posted in UK. Maybe a slight delay on this one pedal as we are gigging this weekend coming and it may be needed all have velcro on bottom. Pedalboard itself will also be up for grabs soon. looking to fund something valvey so an Ashdown CTM30/Little Bastard would be considered in trades/part ex
  5. Time to simplify my set up.  No more pedals (except a tuner), no more pre amps, no more compressors, no more drive.... just a p bass, valves and cab

Ideal set up for great sounds

Pretty much how I’ve always been with a P or jazz bass, I did dabble with a few pedals but they didn’t do much for me and I spent more time fiddling around with them than playing 😁, good luck pow

@Reggaebass that's exactly it, I need to stop knob twiddling (ooooh matron) and just play the damn thing

  6. Ive got a load of old strings that I'm looking to flog. All cut for 4-in-a-row fender style headstock:- GHS Precision Flats - 45-105. £15 Elites Flatwound (may have several sets) - 45-105 - £15 Elites Grounds (several sets) - 45-105 - £12 Silks may be a little scruffy on some but during use all got wiped down with isoprpyl alcohol to keep them as fresh as possible Collection from Bolton is fine or can post in UK
  7. I have one of these with those strings on too. Took me a while to get used to the neck too but now i have its my clear #1 bass. I did change the pickups when i got it but ended up putting the original back in as it has a nice gritty quality. Anyway, i digress - great bass, GLWTS
  8. i drooled over that many times on the BB website! Enjoy!
  9. more expensive but I've had great results with the Origin Effects bass Rig pedals. Even tho I'm an SVT man at heart I actually prefer the sound of the Black Face 64 one. Awesome pedal
  10. I'm really toying with the idea of getting another valve amp. Stage volume wise we are quite a sensible band and rely a lot on the PA to give the FOH volume. I genuinely think i could probably get away with an Ashdown CTM30/Little Bastard but recently I've looked into an old Bassman 135 as I see you can run 1 x 8ohm cab off the extension output and they also have a line out for FOH. In an ideal world id love to get my hand on one of those EBS T90's but can never find one
  11. My bad, i meant the 50's gold/burst/maple one, one of my favourtite P bass colour combos. Assume it was called a 57?
  12. Looks lovely that. Out of interest what did you use on the dry rosewood?
  13. PHWWOOOOOAAAAR look at that!. The is a stunner
  14. Same experience with the Fullertons. I tried a 58 P bass, I genuinely thought the more recent Classic MIM 50's were better. For me, if you want an original but on a budget, you cant beat the 80's MIJ reissues
  15. Bass Centre Elites. Further confirmed by the slightly too long E string
  16. Putting this up and keeping whichever doesnt sell - this or my spyder. UK made 300w ABM in good working condition but a few crackly pots that need a blast of deoxit or something. Collection would be from Bolton where it can be played/heard/seen. Meet-up possible

  18. If the spyder could produce more grit it would be the clear winner and my perfect amp. Even with gain dimed it is still pretty much clean, slight hair to notes but nothing too gritty. The next rabbit hole would different valves help? For now, with the need for grit, the ABM is staying but maaaan, the spyder sounds REALLy good
  19. As an elites flats and Grounds user i can confirm as above. Blue headstock silks and short red bridge silks 👍
  20. I know most consider "vintage" to be 70's and older but this John Deacon-esque 1980 popped up on Bass Bros and has me intrigued (other than the weight). Im currently considering selling all my basses and just having one older P bass, this could be the one potentially. https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1980-fender-precision-bass-2/
  21. So, only one can stay. Let the geeky day of A/Bing commence! So far its clear the ABM is a more versatile amp, it also gets dirtier but the core sound of the Spyder is absolutely brilliant. It almost sounds more like....dont know....bigger and more 3D?
  22. So i picked up an old UK made ABM 300 Evo II (not the one i linked above, i found one for much less).
  23. Definitely played what appeared to be a 70's P bass. As per the previous leaked pics of the rehearsal room his rig was 2 x Fender Super Bassman's via 2 x Fender 8x10's
