      From the inception of the Jazz Bass in 1960 until the mid 1970s, Fender fitted flatwound strings as standard.

      Jazz Bass with flatwounds and a plectrum, was a very common sound throughout the 1960s and 70s.

      If someone doesn't like it then that's their business, but to say it can't be done is stupid.

    I recently bought this amp off ebay. Sold as full working order and came in a substantial flight case. However the amp was DOA. Wouldnt turn on, no power, no lights, zilch. i popped the hood and immediately saw the problem. All three fuse holder on the valve pcb were broken. One fuse was rolling tound in the amp, one was completely missing and the other was holding on for dear life. Before i send the amp back for a refund does anyone know how difficult a job it is to replace the fuseholders? Im not attempting it myself but i assume you will have to remove the board to work on it which in itself would be laboursome. There are boards that i could see would need to be removed first. unfortunately my go-to amp tech is strictly an all valve giy so will also need to source someone in Nortg West to take a look. A not so happy NAD ☹️

    Ive found small items like used flats etc shift quickly here. Anything like amps, cabs or basses I have much more joy on facebook or evil bay to be honest.

    The original Orange Terror Bass 500 in excellent cosmetic and functional condition. Puts out 500w into both 4ohms or 8ohms unlike the recent reissue Comes loaded with 2 x JJ ECC83's and 1 x spare ECC81 for people who want the lower gain 'mod'. Also comes with an attenuator for the DI (ive never used the DI but it came with the amp) and finally the Orange carry bag that these things come with. Pics to follow asap. Collection from Bolton ideally or if no local interest could discuss postage within UK. Also selling the matching Orange 1x15 cab on here. Could do a deal for the pair.

    Bought literally weeks ago but my new band are of the right level that I can use my Ampeg B15 I have added a set of Palmer castors to aid in moving around and also bought an official Orange padded cover. In great condition, bright Orange and marries with my OBT 500 MkI head perfectly (that will also be going up for sale soon - can do a deal for both) Looking for £300 for the cab which will need to be collected from Bolton or can deliver within reasonable distance.     Picato Half Rounds - 45-100. £20 Fitted to my P bass but only the E string was cut (plenty of winds however) and played for 5mins max. A little too much on the roundwound side of things for me, im used to the full on thump of dead flats Elites Flatwounds - 45-105. £15 Fitted to my P bass with plenty of winds. These are my favourite flats in the world but latest project requires something more zingy. Nice bite to them but still massively thumpy at the same time. These have had several hours use and are lovely and warm. Definitely on the old school side of the spectrum these so don’t expect Fender/Chromes twangy sustain - proper flats! Elites Flatwounds - 45-105. £15 As above but not as old and also fitted to a Jack Casady bass so 2+2 headstock rather than 4-in-row. Bit zinger than my P bass ones Status Hotwire Flats - 45-105. £10 These are medium scale but fit my standard p bass no problems with around half an inch clearance of the nut before the silk starts. Quite lively for such smooth flats and plenty ringy. These have had around 2hrs use and are still new sounding with plenty of scope to mellow out.     Strange request here but do any OBC115 owners know if the detachable grill is perfectly square? The reason I ask is id like to use one port side down but with the logo the right way (I know, I know). Was hoping that is the grill is perfectly square I could just pop it of and spin it 45 degrees and reattach it when if flipped the cab.

      Totally, TOTALLY different from the 12" cabs. Sounds like a miniature Ampeg fridge. Haven't played a Terror with mine, but knowing the Terror as I do (I've had 3 of them!), and knowing how the Two10 sounds with the other amps I've had (Ashdown ABM, CTM15 & 30, Mesa Walkabout, Ampeg PF-50t) I'd say it'd be a match made in heaven! Certainly worth trying if you get the chance.

    Another here who has tried pretty much every flatwound out there on my tonal quest, much lighter bank balance later I settled on Elites Detroit Flats. Perfect tension, great mix of old school thump with a little bit more going on in the mids without being Chromes/Fender roundwound like tone. Perfect for me
