  1. But also… the volume control does not necessarily correspond in any way to the output power, coz of the various ways manufacturers build things and make all the volume in the first 1/3 of dial movement (for example…)
  2. My thoughts exactly. RM800 and then either Pro Neo or RM cabs. That said there’s a Genz Benz Streamliner in the classifieds for a frankly ridiculously low price of £220 which is well worth a look.
  3. So yes. Depends on budget and what cabs you can get…
  4. Agreed. The irony with my previous post is that I’ve just bought a Super Twin so I can use my Trace TE1200 with a single cab on loud gigs, because I’m lazy and don’t want to carry two cabs, an amp, basses and a pedalboard 🤣🤣
  5. Blimey! Certainly is! Sally is the sometime-singer, it’s a bit of a rotating door with singers and drummers. Her brother Pete sometimes plays with this band too 😀
  6. If you need volume more drivers is better than going for a single 4 ohm cab “to get the maximum from the head”. So as @Dan Dare says, several smaller, lighter weight boxes. A small 500-800W head, two small, lightweight cabs. You can then take one or both cabs as the mood/situation dictates.
  7. Just played at two of the annual Great Ormond Street Christmas parties. Met Lewis Hamilton’s W14 and, far more excitingly, Emma Bunton. The actual playing bit? Can’t remember. I met Emma Bunton 🥰
  8. Having only bought one thing throughout the year (and then having sold it after using it for the one gig I needed it) I felt I was sort of still an honorary members of the gear abstinence challenge. No longer. This preowned Super Twin arrived today from Bass Direct. Oops. Time will tell if it’s a wise purchase or not…
  9. Ask @Quilly - he has a Two10 and had an Elf 1x10 until recently…
  10. Stop saying this please, you’re not helping my GAS 😂
  11. You’re right.Class D is the power amp design; traditional solid state and valve heads tend to use class AB power amp topology. Class D is more often than not linked with an SMPS (switch mode power supply) as opposed to the traditional power supply found in valve and class AB heads, and that’s actually where most of the weight saving comes from 🤓
  12. Uh oh. Been thinking about one of these for a while. Lacking in funds may be my saviour/downfall (delete as applicable)
  13. I’ve not bought anything except a Backbeat v1. I sold it a couple of months later as decided I didn’t need it. So it was my best and worst 😄
  14. @stevie’s LFSys cabs are exceptional. The Monaco especially so, though I appreciate that isn’t what was mentioned here. Would love to try one on a gig! Note they are very different in concept to the Barefaced x10 range
  15. The original post (now edited out) said 4 ohm
  16. I have one and it’s very easy to use. I barely use it though, and was thinking of selling…
  17. Likewise! Often get told to turn down tbh. And as @BassAdder60 said, the “big” Elf (TE1200) is 4 Ohm min as well, but Peavey did say they were testing its stability at 2 ohms…
  18. Both bassists and all basses sounded great but that Blitz was my favourite. Immense tone!
  19. It was a great gig! I was explaining to someone about Doug’s Trace cabs as they weren’t sure what they were - had to stop myself going into full geek mode 🤣 I thought both bands were great, though from where we were Gary Cherone did seem to be struggling to pitch a fair bit, always felt flat. But the energy levels and musicianship on display… wow. I think MiniMert was suitably impressed, his head was bobbing up and down throughout 😎 Great to see @cetera briefly as we’re were looking at the (tiny!) merch stand 🙂
  20. Played through @WalMan’s one of these at the recent SE Bass bash. Lovely thing - the clean and dirt channels especially gorgeous. GLWTS
