  1. Awesome. A relatively last-minute booking for Katy Hurt at Buck’n’Bull London - essentially they put on Country/Americana themed nights and forgot they needed a band! A sold out show at Phantom Peaks in Surrey Quays (what an absolute pig to get to!) and an amazing crowd. The only spoilers were me messing up a couple of tunes (I blame jet lag) and my rig cutting out during our encore. Some investigation needed today - I think it’s a dodgy input socket to my pedalboard. Bur other than that, what an immense night it was. We have footage from at least 3 angles and hopefully we can get a live video of a song or two from it 🤓
  2. I second what @Frank Blank says! Just think, you can try out the new Trace head if you come along..
  3. @RickW you’ve now got me looking at Sandberg Lionel basses again damn you 🤣
  4. This is a sexy bass and would be causing me no end of wallet-related issues if it weren’t long scale 😅 My previous Sandberg experiences were all decidedly average but this affirmed the long-held BC mantra that they are excellent. Seems the previous (shop-situated) ones just needed a damn good set up. Rick is a gent and really looks after his gear so buy with confidence 🙂
  5. It’ll be incredibly heavy, and IMO there are much better modern cabs out there. With that in mind, the amp may be worth it with lighter cabs but personally I’d not go for it…
  6. The Kings Arms - the old one in the one way bit with all the antiques shops 😀
  7. Second gig of the weekend was the modern rock covers band (Wednesday’s Child) playing a little pub in Dorking. Bank Holiday weekend meant a sparser crowd than usual but they seemed to enjoy it and we had fun. Two new additions to the set, one of which is the wonderful Twisted (Everyday Hurts) by Skunk Anansie - what a bassline 😀 - and both went ok I think. Now for a busman’s holiday, off to a beer and music festival as a punter 😎
  8. She’s awesome! Best singer I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with, and the songs are cracking. Very privileged to have the opportunity to gig with her and the band
  9. I think Ashdown are in the process of making a facsimile of them for him for some reason
  10. Just got back from Alex James’ farm, following a wicked mid/afternoon set with Katy Hurt at the Big Feastival. We had a blast, and apart from a complete mind fart on the last chorus of the last song I think I played OK 😀 Started with a reasonably sparse crowd (pic below) but it felt like most people who walked past stopped and stayed for the whole set which was delightful Bass was my glorious Zoot P5, onstage duties handled by my Elf and a single Barefaced Two10. Marvellous!
  11. Ooooh, I’m in! @cetera - Charvel 3B, ESP Surveyor '87, Fender FSR PJ Precision, Hamer Impact, Italia Imola, Spector NS2, Spector Euro, Spector EuroX (Spectorbird), Spector Pulse II, Spector Dimension 4HP, Gallien Krueger 400RB & Legacy800 heads, GenzBenz Neox 2x12 cab @TheGreek - All short scale this year - a @Jabba_the_gut scale 5er, Mini Ray, Short scale P bass @Harlequin74 - Zoot Performer, Status Shark, Spector QV4 , Markbass TTE501 and Matching CAB. Maybe the Lehle Basswitch… @Frank Blank - @Jabba_the_gut short scale fretted and fretless, JMJ Mustang, QSC K12.2, Grace Design Alix @TrevorR - Mk 1 Wal, Wal Pro IIE, Aria SB700, Frankenjazz, pedals and MarkBass LMII & Traveler 2x10 @bnt - travelling light, probably a couple of pedals such as T-Rex Diva Drive, Orange KongPressor @bass_dinger - 1999 Washburn XB500, 1994 Washburn XB500, Washburn XB925 in zebrawood, Washburn XB925 in bits, Boulder Creek 5 string (likely to be for sale, SWR Workingmans 12. @greentext- 2008 Spector NS4-H2, 2015 Sandberg VS4, 2000 Trace Elliot T-Bass, my pedalboard and my tin of picks 😈 @prowla- Probably a couple of Rickenbackers and some interesting oddities. Amp-wise a Markbass EVO and a 1x12 (last year I bought some others to try and never switched them on, as the EVO sounded spot-on). @SuperSeagull - Status S2, Feline P Bass, Modded Fender Lyte, Flea Jazz, MB Combo @Merton - various short and medium scale ACGs, Zoots and Conway basses, Barefaced cabs, modern Trace Elliot amps
  12. It’s a design from some members of Basschat and made freely available to everyone on here. There’s a great big thread in the Amps and Cabs section edit: here it is
  13. FWIW, the original request I sent to Martin was same width as the Ashdown Little Bastard, which I believe is 15-3/4” wide, so 16” is bloody marvellous.
  14. Bloody hell I remember studying this at school in a music lesson. Christ knows why this song was chosen, I don’t remember anything else from the lesson. 😆
  15. My 20+ year old ABM fizzled out earlier this year; Ashdown fixed it for less than £70 including return delivery. It’s well worth having a chat with Dave Green
  16. Correct me if I’m wrong but the 12-band head doesn’t have a valve I believe?
  17. Definitely. MDF is the cheap option for bass cabs!
  18. No luck finding those jack socket nuts, sorry @VTypeV4
  19. Yep - they designed it as a cost effective alternative didn’t they! It does sound rather good 🤓
  20. I didn’t gig yesterday because I was at my cousin’s wedding, but my ACG TKO did 😄 Katy stepped into bass duties in my absence and borrowed my bass as her Mustang has been a bit temperamental recently:
  21. My first amp was a Mk1 Commando 15 combo. Loved its tone but it never quite managed to cope at a gig. Always fancied either getting one of the (ultra rare) heads or finding a combo and taking out the amp section. Cracking job cleaning up this one! I may have a spare jack nut - will have a look when I get home tomorrow
