  1. Yup, and their website does not offer filtering by impedance so a phone call made sense IMO. If one of my team told a customer to look at the website when they phoned for advice I’d be raging. Best answer from BD would have been “Leave that with me, can I call/email you back?”
  2. That being said, some CTM30s seem to exist without a Gain control so who the hell knows 😂
  3. A question for all you WB-100 users who use FX as well - how well do the two pair? Reason I ask, I think my Trace TE1200 is a SUPERB amp for effects as it seems to bring out the best in them. The WB-100 on the other hand just seems to make everything feel quite “swampy”. Filters don’t sweep, choruses sound a bit mooshy…. I even thought the (passive) tone control on one of my basses was bust as I couldn’t hear any difference between off, on or the sweep between. Then I realised it’s the same on all my basses…. Weird. It’s a bloody superb amp in and of itself and I LOVE the tone I get from it without anything but a touch of compression, but with a couple of bands I need those filters, synths, choruses and they just get lost… Any clues? (BTW I run the FX between bass and amp, not in the FX loop, and the EQ is pretty much flat with the very slightest of notches on the contour control. Maybe I need to try the FX loop?)
  4. Yep that makes sense in line with the press release. Essentially they are Algam UK now and the Ashdown part is a small cog in a bigger machine now.
  5. Exterior design-wise obviously a different vibe, as far as I know the only electronic difference is that the CTM30 has a gain control as well
  6. Get a box custom made for the custom made box? 😄
  7. No but it looks very cool!
  8. These Standard series basses are going to cause my bank balance even more trouble than ACGs already do I think 😄
  9. Do it do it do it do it etc
  10. As said on the Mesa ad - sorry to hear this. But I’m doing my best to persuade my uncle to buy at least a cab, if not the Eich amp as well. And I’m trying to persuade someone else to buy the Mesa so I can borrow it 😄
  11. Superb cab, very fair price! Also fired this at my uncle, he could use this and a more powerful amp for the same result as the Vanderkley 2x12.
  12. Have sent this to my uncle who lives up in Holt - he’s after a bigger cab set up and this ticks the box beautifully
  13. Oh no! Sorry to hear that Martin. Always fancied one of these but now I have the Handbox I can’t see I’d ever use this a GLWTS.
  14. Very cool! Maybe this is a rabbit hole I need to explore too…
  15. This is pretty much where I’m at with everything except bloody fuzz 😅
  16. I’ve done it back when I had a Two10 and One10. It works great and definitely added something. Whether it’s enough of a difference I can’t really say as it’s been two years now and I can barely remember what I did yesterday 😄 I guess it depends how loud the band is; for me I actually ended up getting a second Two10 because the band was loud and I never had PA support.
  17. I guess this all ties in with their recent merge with / acquisition by the Algam group: https://www.mia.org.uk/2024/08/ashdown-engineering-team-establishes-algam-ashdown-in-the-united-kingdom/ They have an 80% stake in the company now, will be interesting to see where it goes.
  18. I always struggle with fuzz sounds. Whatever I do they seem to become overwhelming and crush everything at 20 paces, rather than being a nice fuzzy warmth often found on the record. I expect it’s got a lot to do with compression in reality, and compression I am not good at, at all 😅
  19. That right hand one would be remarkably close to one I’d have serious trouble avoiding 😂
  20. ….Of course if the “right” Lionel appeared second hand I’d be in a lot of trouble
  21. I am both gutted and relieved that not many are available. Gutted because I really NEED one in my silly collection (😆) and relieved because, having just bought a Handbox and commissioned a new ACG, I can neither afford or really justify it 🤣
  22. ACG TKO Classic https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0404tkoclassic4-30-5/ EDIT - it is the Dog’s Danglies, especially for rock music. Passive but has a very Spector-esque growl to it, especially with the pickups in series
  23. Lovely bass, and definitely a brand to get hooked on. I’ve just commissioned ACG number 7 😀
  24. Did an interesting beer festival gig today with my pop/punk band, our first gig since BC (Before Covid) and a completely new set of songs which our band leader had written in lockdown. Being a microbrewery in a small industrial unit, the acoustics were pretty crappy. Hard floors and walls, high ceiling, and the world’s smallest PA. Honestly I’ve seen home hi fi systems which are bigger. House bass amp was a 30W Ampeg Rocket combo, so naturally I took my Handbox WB100 and Barefaced Two10. Both guitarists had their 2x12s 😆🤦🏼‍♂️ Soundman looked a bit scared, bless him. Overall though, it sounded great. Seemed well balanced out front from the videos I’ve seen, albeit with a PA being pushed hard. We played well and then laughed when the next band announced a song “this is new, we’ve never played it live before so I hope it goes OK”. Er, that was our entire set 😄 So yeah, Youths is the name of the band, new music will be released soon. We need some more gigs as well 😁
