Any Ideas where you can buy T-shirts with bass players on?....I used to have a Johnny Marr t-shirt that I loved but I can't find any with bass players on. It's hard to find bass related clothing full stop!
DJ Tees
one of the main reasons why i own a stingray and love them is because the pickup position is exactly where i like to play
I thought that would be the main thing I missed about my old Groove 5 but I actually find the option of 2 positions with the Retroactive better for me. But I do love the Stingray PU position. As for playing by the neck, the Ox did it, so it must be OK!

Let's do it

The reviews I've seen of this on TB make it my favourite one to get, when I have lots of spare cash... I like the Shuttle but I think I prefer the G-K tone. Let us know how it performs at gigs!

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: NEW INFO!
Merton replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
Hi Martin Audition went well thanks, "We've never sounded so good" was a positive comment, but they gave the gig to another bass player who was already playing in 3 other bands. They thought his gigging contacts could help re-establish the band and generate more bookings. Ces't la vie.
Bugger. Ah well, on to the next one! -
At only 50p/watt I don;t think it's possible to justify it
I've found it on the interweb for £189 plus £12 delivery. Good god, that's 40.2p/watt including delivery (or 38p without). That's dumb. I want one.
o yeah, and if i am only driving the cab at 150W, when it is rated for 600W, and i likely to do any damage to it? hmmm
As has been said (by me) on Talkbass - no. As has been said to you before by lots of people on here - read the Wiki!
Fairy nuff. You'd think they'd take 'Made in the PRC' off the illustration on their site though, wouldn't you? Ashdown. Crazy guys.
As with most things on their website, the back panel image is WRONG!! Haha! Hmm, £1600 is a lot of money. And Jan 2009 is probably about a year off, knowing their delivery times

The easy way I remember it is that valve power stages don't mind short circuits, solid state power stages don't like them. Solid state power stages can do open circuit, but valves can't. The lower the impedance, the closer to short circuit, so Bill is right.

So that's where it went!

Get a Status T-Bass Sorry, unhelpful!

Let the race begin Glad we were some form of inspiration The specs on yours look really tasty, honestly can't wait to see pics. So I guess around September next year we can arrange another SE Bash and compare....?

Sounds awesome, looking forward to pics of this! Shame tho as Mikey and I thought we were the first people in the UK to be doing a fanned-fret singlecut bass (see linky in my sig...) but this will probably get finished first We've angled the PUps on ours (well, Mikey's design) to match the polepieces and string spacing, plus it follows the fan nicely so looks good

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: NEW INFO!
Merton replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
Looking forward to the South East Easter Bash! - hopefully next time I won't have to leave early for an audition. I now have access to a school with a purpose built 200 seat auditorium/theatre in Addlestone which might be a very good venue as long as members don't mind the next bash being so close to the last one?
Sounds good - could keep costs lower and allow for more charidee money possibly? Keep forgetting to ask how your audition went?
Well done Nik and team. An excellent result.
Indeedy, but only an excellent result becasue of you generous lot who came and paid and made it a brilliant day! -
That looks awesome. Wish I'd had time over the last 3 months to do more than a tiny amount of work on Kev's 1x8 cab and then start my 1x15 If mine turn out half as good as this then I'll be happy

Bass playing as a chill out & stress relief..
Merton replied to silverfoxnik's topic in General Discussion
Hi Folks, It's been a busy week (as per usual) and sometimes when it all gets too stressful, the first thing I think of when going home that I know will chill me out is picking up a bass and having a noodle around for half an hour! But it doesn't usually pan out that way because the first thing that happens when I walk through the door is kids/family mayhem etc, etc, and quite rightly so as they come first. Which means I tend to skulk around much later on practicing the bass with the headphones on, which is never quite the same thing. Is it just me with this scenario or does this sound all too familiar to anyone else?? Nik
Yep, and for me it'll get worse come April next year!! I tend to use the post 9pm time - when Nic is in bed too (being all pregnant as she is) - to do my practice on my acoustic bass. -
hi there, i have a ported 2x10 cab, but i was wondering if i could use it in conjunction with a sealed 4x10 cab to get the 4ohms from my head. is this a good idea, or is mixing ported and sealed cabs a bit like mixing neo and ceramic speakers; i.e. not done? many thanks for your help
1. I've never read that you shouldn't mix ceramic and neo magnets!! 2. I use a ported and a sealed cab at the moment and it sounds brilliant - a 4x8 (sealed) and a 1x15 (ported). If it sounds good, it probably is good
I know they're stupidly cheap compared to your other choices but check out the new Hartke LH500 and LH1000 heads. They're fantastic sounding amps, regardless of price but the price is the bargain of the decade. With the onboard EQ and inherently growly tone of your Warwicks the admittedly limited EQ and mellow fat tone of the Hartkes could prove an ideal match. Alex
+ the one.
The back panel schematic says "manufactured in PRC for Ashdown Engineering" Peoples Republic of Colorado??
It also says 500W RMS, but it's 400W according tot he blurb. Methinks they've done the usual trick of not quite getting all the information right online...

BTA400 BTA standing for Big Tube Amp apparently. Made in the USA... Wonder how expensive it'll be over here. And how long it'll take to arrive

What the hell is a "pocket", more so a "deep pocket"?
Merton replied to thepurpleblob's topic in General Discussion
This, to me, is playing in the 'pocket'.. as tight as a gnat's arse!! IMO!!
Hell yes. -
Bassist avilable for gigs/dep/cover thru Dec and Xmas
Merton replied to Mike Brooks's topic in Musicians Wanted
I've already used Mike on one of my gigs and he's brilliant. Knew the songs better than the rest of the band!
+1 - he also know the songs better than me! -
Battery would be my first guess too, but... does the bass work with your Trace combo?
