1. I had the Nemesis NA320 head for a while, it was awesome but never quite got me the volume I need against the guitard in my originals band. Wayne, you should give this a go, I think you'd like it!
2. Sorry to hear that For everyone else, final word on the rigs is due this weekend, watch this space for some news

Porting
I would use a port tube to give the hole a neat and finished edge, obviously the port tube can be cut to suit the length you need, or simply used to mask the hole edge
Aye, but I can't find a port tube with the right diameter! So found some black pipe instead and cut two bits to size... 6cm diameter port tube anyone?

Porting

Hello! This is really for Alex and BFM (plus anyone else who knows). So I'm going to be building a 1x15 cab which is designed to be identical to the 1x15 "cab" in my V-Type combo. Yes yes, small enclosure, not much bottom end etc, but I like the sound I get from it and it's bloody loud. So the question is this. The combo is rear ported. I'm not convinced my woodworking skills are good enough/tidy enough to rear-port my cab, so therefore wondered about front-porting instead. This means I can hide the ports behind the speaker grille so any making good will be less obvious. Suddenly the cabs are no longer identical, HOWEVER I do know that port position is a moot point (i.e. you can put them where you want them). But will it have any bearing on the phase relationships at f3 etc, if one is rear-ported and one front-ported? My head says nay (i.e. it won't make a difference), but I want to have an expert tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth
6. It happens lots. I own a Groove 5 previously owned by Wigfinder General (RIP) and soon to be owned by silverfoxnik. I own a Trace 4x8 combo previously owened by presoulnation and before that wildus and soon to be owned by....???
7. I'm gonna send in a song from our new album too, got the go ahead last night
8.
Wow! Fish and chips served on the potty .. Posh people reallly know how to live, eh? We played one of those gigs a few years back. Posh portatloos with paintings, had to go outside for the burger van an air rifle stall, though ... .
10. Funny one last night, we did a 40th birthday party in a garden in Oxted. 2 doors down was a 21st party with an (apparently) crap band - so much so that half their guests appeared at our party to enjoy our sets instead... Was bloody cold by the end, no heaters anywhere to be seen. So cold that my amp and pedal power supplies weren't even warm after 6 hours of being switched on... Plus points - weird posh portaloos with fully flushing toilets, carpet and classical music piped in, and a fish'n'chip van. Hooray! Friday was at the Crow's Nest in East Grinstead, was a fairly standard night there but I took my fretless along and had a giggle with that all night. Not sure anyone noticed, which I take to be a good thing (i.e. I can play in tune!!)
11. Once Nik is back from his holiday we'll have to figure it out and let everyone know final date etc. Prob about this time next week I imagine.
12. This will be cool! I'd go for the left hand wood, looks like the Moo-wood so prevalent on Statii.com I think my next Status order will be going in just after Christmas hopefully
13. Gorgeous! Looks like the 'Ray version of my Retroactive... Bring it to the bash, oh yes, must have a spank on that
14. Gorgeous collection Mike. My GF likes your GBs lots Should have the set list stuff to email you later btw...
15. 4 in my originals band, 5 in the function band

Bought a Fastrack bass Songbook for one of my pupils; excellent service. Cheers Nick!
18. If I can persuade the missus I'm allowed a night out I'll try to get to the Guildford one
19.
Not exactly my gig and maybe not really for this thread, but we've just finished rehearsals for the Queen & Paul Rodgers tour (i'm working on it, not playing - unfortunately). We fly off to Ukraine tomorrow for the start of the tour and beyond!. The band were sounding great and it's polished show, so should be a good tour.
Many pics are required methinks! Enjoy
20. If it only happens with the Trace in your rehearsal room it sounds like you're hitting the room's resonance/getting a standing wave. Try moving the combo around the room.
21. I've used cocktail sticks and not (yet) had to tighten any screws again. they're a winner
22. Just remembered another couple, both strangely animal related: 1. had an inflatable pig called Percy onstage with my band called, er, Piglet Clone 2. had two blue monkey toys onstage with my band called, er, freaky blue monkey. Actually, I think the band names are far more embarrassing than the gimmicks.
23.
The main character in Iain Bank's Espedair Street, Daniel Weir, is a bass player... Jennifer

^ Beat me to it. Excellent book!

Oh yes, I'd forgotten that .. Good book! Some versions of the cover even have a P bass image (which caught my eye and caused me to buy it) but some show that publishers and book designers don't know the difference between a bass and a gu1tar and have given it a Les Paul image..
You all got there first I like that book, tis grand. Shame about the 2nd publishers...
24. I played this rig at rehearsal last night. Heavy as hell but a gorgous sound. I'm half tempted to not sell... But I need the money and this is the rig which gets less use. So, er, that was all a rather longwinded bump!
