1. Prob a good idea. Sorry for being a pedantic a**hole! Let us know how you get on with the Ampeg
 2. What a gorgeous bass. Can I have it?
 3. Being a pedant, your ebay listing is wrongly stating 300W @ 8 ohms and 580W @ 4 ohms. It's actually more like 180W @ 8 ohms and 300W @ 4 ohms (RMS figures). The 580W is a peak power, pretty meaningless really. Anyhoo, good luck! How you getting on with the Ampeg?

 5.
I used to use a TE Dual Compressor which works well if you don't mind the very midrangey EQ it inflicts on everything - good for punching through a rock band. Alex

It's the Trace Elliot Dual Band SMX one for me. May work for you too. Now discontinued but quite often on eBay Circa £50-60 squid when they come up. The dual band is great for me as I don't need the top compressed, just the bass end, and it's as tough as old boots...
It be what I use too, I love it. Again, i mainly use low end compression, not a whole lot on the top. And it's survived over 10 years of abuse without flinching.
 6. See HERE for more chitter chatter about it. I'm very interested in these heads too, but need to sell stuff first!
 7.
along with a Hartke LH500
Excellent. I may squeeze my V-Type 4x8 cab in then, just to try this head with a cab I'm used to, if that's OK? Very interested in this new Hartke baby...
 8.
If its not too much of a liberty I'll be bringing a couple of surplus cheap poweramps and an unused 3u rack bag which are all for sale, just in case anyone fancies one on the day. I promise not to make it look like a Blue Peter Bring and Buy sale I'll also try to bring my sack trolley to aid eveyone's loading/unloading pains.
No, I forbid it. ONly kidding. Let the buying and selling commence! (Just don't let me buy anything )
 9. My local Sainsbury's does the Grolsch bottles. Well, it did 'em before so I assume it still does. I will happily buy some, quaff the beer and send the straplocks
 10.
Are you taking the 8x10 or the 1x15 + 2x10?
If I wasn't on hols I'd come to this for my birthday drinkies! But I am, so I won't Have a good one!

 13.
URGENT NEWS:- For some reason, the rooms where the Bash is happening on Saturday have changed and we will now be in: Onslow Suite 1 & 2 The Onslow Suite(s) are located in the Academy area of the Holiday Inn site and The Academy has it's own car park on the left hand side as you drive into the Holiday Inn (if you're coming by car that is). Once parked, you go into the lobby of the Academy and the Onslow Suites will be to your left. Access is apparently very easy! There is a bar and restaurant close by to the Onslow Suites and also, a lounge area if you need a bit of quiet time or want to have a chat etc! Here's a link to the Holiday Inn web page which has more info: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/925/en...ps-_-hi-_-guisu Nik
Cheers Nik. Why couldn't they tell me that last week?! Sounds like we'll be a bit more secluded from the rest of the buildings which is a good thing
 14.
Shame...but it's good to know that it was the not the fact we got Neil in the band that put you off :-)
Well, I didn't like to say... Neil's a good guy, never heard him play coz he's so shy about it but he keeps coming to my gigs. I'll make it one day

Don't be shy to pop up and see me at half time (unless of course you have anything particularly harsh to say in which case save it until after the gig) if you are interested in my gear etc. Cheers
Oooh - you got a guy called Neil on guitar? He's invited me down but have band practice
 19. The Holiday Inn does indeed have a bar with bar snacks, so they told me anyway... Looking forward ot this, it's gonna rock! Thanks to Nik for being the head honcho iwithout whom it would have never happened
 20.
Well for a few years I've been using my Trace 1X15 combo with and without extension speakers with the compression at about 2 o'clock, preshape always on and a nice smiley face EQ (I know it's become unfashionable to be smiley but it works for me). HOWEVER my biggest (and relatively cheap fix) improvement in quality of tone was after buying a Hartke Bass Attack DI/tone pedal. Never gig without it now, you can hear the lows and highs, nice mids the, the lot. I'd challenge anyone not to be able to get a good sound from it.
Yeah, either that or the SABDDI would be a good choice. Or a DHA pedal
 21.
I've got an eden nemesis N8 which is a great practice amp at 40 watts. What about a nemesis combo as you use eden already?
One of my students has one of these (coz I recommended it based on you saying how good it was), and it is! Fine little practice amp for the money
 22.
The 400 Watt 8 * 10 easily has enough to go against a loud drummer and 2 Mesa 4 * 12 Guitarists in my band . One of the great things about the 8 * 10 format is that it is so clear on stage due to the speaker being so tall and near ear height.
Aye, I imagine this combo is quite a different kettle of fish from my rig, probably more volume than you need by a fair bit! I'd be tempted myself if I wasn't in sell mode
 23. I had the Nemesis NA320 head for a while, it was awesome but never quite got me the volume I need against the guitard in my originals band. Wayne, you should give this a go, I think you'd like it!
