  1. It’s more fun for everyone in the end as they’re not hearing Sweet Child O Mine or All Right Now for the millionth time. They get edumacated on newer shizz 🤓
  2. Cracking gig with the modern rock covers band (called Wednesday’s Child). It’s always a risk playing songs which nobody knows to a crowded pub but we went down great. I think it’s the best we’ve played yet, even my BVs weren’t horrendous, and we had a blast. Had some lovely feedback during the break and at the end, people commenting on how it was cool to see a band enjoying themselves so much, or how, despite not knowing the songs immediately, the energy and passion brought them across really well and played into bringing the crowd out of their shells. Great fun. And yes, the drummist had spent the week prior to this cleaning his kit 😂
  3. These were mocked when they first appeared but for £240 you get a lot of kit. I bought one from Ashdown in the early stages of lockdown and it has been a godsend, it is the core of my home practice/demoing set up now. And they sound great just as a basic mp3 player too
  4. Also agree! For some reason I find hitting the right harmony when playing bass much harder. I guess if the guitar chord has it nice and clear then it give my brain something to latch onto. In my rock covers band there are a couple of songs where I find the bass rhythm impossible to keep going with the vocal harmony, so do as @Lozz196 said and simplify the bass part. No one tells me I’m wrong
  5. A bargainous rig. I’m heading to Diss in a few weeks, if anyone in the South needs help getting their mitts on this I’m not sure if that helps at all?
  6. Interested how you get on with this vs the Ashdown heads you’ve been using, and also compared with your GK Legacy time. Actually, scratch that, I don’t need the GAS 😄
  7. If you do think of moving the R400 on, let me know please 🙏🏻
  8. I’m still in, somewhat surprisingly. The only thing which could rejoin me now is the Stoneham valve project coming to fruition this year, otherwise my plan is to stay faithful to the challenge
  9. I’m in a few different bands but the one which plays this is called Wednesday’s Child, we do modern/less obvious rock covers around the Surrey area It’s cool because we play this, Those Damn Crows, The Dead Daisies, Eva Under Fire, Larkin Poe, Brothers Osbourne, Kira Mac…
  10. <pedant mode> Second gen strictly speaking, it’s the first “EVO” 🤓 </pedant mode> Almost 24 years old IIRC - the power amp board was dated same date as my 19th birthday! It had an amp tech look it over about 6/7 years ago but I suspect it’s an age thing that has taken out a power supply cap or something. We are pondering the next step with it!
  11. Yeah, the initial brief I gave Martin was 40cm wide. The YI200 is just for testing porpoises
  12. Update from Martin - it’s still on the cards, just been a busy time focussing in existing orders etc. He’s hoping to have a prototype in a YI200 chassis in the next few months and then will be finalising the design of the metal cage for the production model. First run will be 10pcs min due to the min order qty for the metal cage design he’s considering.
  13. One of my enduring early memories of the Bassworld days is a pic of you in front of that beast of a rig! I was always very jealous of it 😀
  14. Tatty box signed by Norman Watt-Roy Eddie’s a great guy to deal with, buy with confidence
  15. This was the original RM line, before the EVO II with the white cones. These may wel have been mine, if so they were bought direct from Ashdown and had an easy life before I sold them
  16. Of course I’ve just had a quick jam along to try out my new Roland Go Mixer Pro thing before doing a proper video for you, and I realise in the two years I’ve been playing it I’ve morphed some of the parts away from the original. 😆 So I’ll relearn the original first then sort the video 🤓
  17. I’ll video it for you this weekend if you want - we do this in one of my bands. Which bits are you missing? PM if you prefer
  18. I should add … I can use a single Two10 with my Trace Elliot Elf at loud band rehearsals and still get told I’m too loud. My main issue with loud band rehearsals thesedays is if so take my TE-1200 as it’s SO powerful I have to be careful not to destroy the cab!
  19. You won’t get earth-shattering, gut-wrenching lows from a single One10 but if the band is sensible with volume levels it will be fine for a monitor. I’ve used a single One10 for gigs with a quiet band in all sorts of situations without PA support and it’s been fine. I’ve used two One10s in a stack at rehearsal and gig (with PA support) with sensible and not-so-sensible bands, and they’ve been fine - amp either an Ashdown RM800 or Glock Blue Rock. The change to a single Two10 was interesting. It’s ultimately identical, give or take, to a pair of One10s, so the scenario above still stands, but I’ve come to find I prefer it as a stand alone cab over a single One10. It’s not that big or heavy, and the second drive just makes everything a bit … “more better”. I originally planned to keep a One10 for one band and bijou rehearsals/gigs but decided pretty quickly that there wasn’t a huge benefit in doing so… I’ve actually ended up getting a second Two10 because one of my bands is very loud (mainly the drummist) and we don’t put bass in the PA, so I decided it would be fun to destroy walls.
