1. One day I'll get one of these bloody things ! - Been saying that since I started playing as a teenager Have a bump
2.
im really gassing for a mk IV atm. just wondering, how do they sound with a 4 by 10 cab? also under what circumstances is it best to biamp? cheers
S'pose it does depend on the 4 x 10 cab used. My MK IV is definately has a Peavey sound (apologies for lack of clarity here for those that havn't heard a few different Peaveys'), but that said, the tone shaping stages are very effective. For ideas around biamping, the owners manual gives full explanations and is available from the Peavey website. They do come up from time to time and generally for under £100. Awesome for the money.
3. Kev bought a trombone from me. Had no end of problems at my end sorting out the post and dealing with Citylink, but despite all that, Kev displayed the patience of Job throughout. Cheers Kev, hope it serves you well Tom
4. what colour is the facing ? Cheers
5. Come along on the Sunday morning. You know it will be more fun than all those jobs at home
6. Noticed one of mine needs a tweek too. Must be that time again.
7.
It's looking like I can make it! so if anyone is interested in trying any of the following, post it up and I will bring it along. 4 strings: Vigier Passion III Vigier Passion II Alembic Persuader Spector Rebop Zebrano Dean Brian Bromberg Gibson SGZ (34 scale) Warwick thumb BO fretless Hoyer EB3 Hohner B2A Hohner Jack Cort G65 with Roland GK pickup and V-Bass edit: I think it's a Passion II not a I , about 1985 anyway and with a graphite neck and LAG collection 5 string, 1984 (strung with a high C) I have Hartke LH 500 and LH1000 heads and three GS112 cabs that will still be in my car from the night before if they are needed.
Now I'm really curious to see what you bring on the day How do you decide what to take to a gig ? See you there T
8.
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do....
9.
I remember it on top of the pops in 1973 when i was 8 years old. The ELO version of course has the musical quote from Beethoven's 5th at the begining.
Isn't that great ? a mix of classical and pop ! The whole tone decending scale is just the cherry on the cake - mixing in prog rock too. How off the wall is that ? Whole tone scale was of course also used by Rod Argent in 'Hold Your Head Up' from the same era.
10.
I believe I can make this. Will bring my Shuker Singlecut fanned-fret, POD X3 Live, Sennheiser hd202 headphones. Would anyone be interested if I brought my Hattie HA3500 and BFM Omni 10, or are we OK for rigs that make a lot of noise?
I'd definately be interested in hearing your set - up peted. I also wouldn't mind trying your HA3500 through my GS112's, just to see how they pair up. Great to have you on board By the way, what would it sound like if we all learned one tune to play together on the day ? a few could take the bass guitar line, others could take single note guitar lines, others could do chords (all with the appropriate sound balance of course). Too ambitious ? Too ridiculous ? T
11. This song had me bouncing around in my car 07.45 in the morning on the way to work. How to win friends and influence people
12. Just listened to this again and remembered what a monster of a song it is. It's a brilliant pick- me- up for any slow day. I wanted to share it with you all - have a good weekend Enjoy !
13. I've got one of these (well two really). They are fantastic basses for the money. Have a bump
14. Used to play Mr Blue Sky years ago. Worked out bass the run in quavers towards the end of the song and played it every weekend for somewhere north of two years. It became automatic after a short while. Then came one weekend, went to do it and realised it just wasn't there. I'd forgotten it ! Had to work it out all over again
15. Well, it may come as no surprise that having had my first lesson with Jake, I can only endorse what others have already said here. Over the course of two hours, Jake worked with me to establish a clear way forward in my bass playing career. He quickly assessed my knowledge and abilities, then showed me the way forward in a clear, understandable fashoin. As many others have found, I came away with a sense that my musical career has kick started again and a new sense of hopeand purpose, which makes a real change to weeks and months of going round and round in my own musical circles. You want to advance your musical career ? get it here folks ! Thanks Jake, the next lesson is definately on my list Cheers Tom
16. Get to the top ! Still room for more on the day folks !
17. Like the bolt repair idea - beautifully simple. The clamps are a nice price too. Thanks for raising this thread and posting the update, it gives some hope for my project now cheers T
18. Decent fret job would be the perfect touch to add to the lighter tuners you installed. If you end up keeping the bass, you'll need the frets refinished at some point anyway. Why not have the fun now instead of later ? Could turn a really good bass into a really great bass Best of luck whatever you do T
19. Love it to bits. How much ?
20. Welcome aboard ! Would mind hearing my Roadworn Jazz through an RH450 See you there T
21. Is there anyone out there that would be happy to do a session on setups or other things on the day ? Just thinking about some of the ideas from the thread "Help my band sounds crap live". Could be worth having a road test of some of those ideas on the day if we can get a guitarist and a drummer along. There's also a room that can be used for a jam session, so there may be some things for a drummer and guitarist to do on the day. Not too long to go now........
22. bump for another guitar I wish I could afford
23. I still gig some of the lines he played. Irreplacable
24.
Very kind of you! Do you drive a Bus?
If we economise on cabinet numbers, it may fit into my Astra merit...... Still open to any suggestions for any talks or demonstrations etc on the day ! cheers
25.
Not sure on the clamps yet, I need to ask around and see what may be lurking in various friends tool boxes. Long jaws and not too deep. Ref glue, I had a look on the Titebond website and see they do a hide glue. Having done a bit of interweb research it seems this is a popular luthier adhesive so I think I'll get a bottle, unless there are other suggestions.
A well known luthier from the Brighton region recommended Aliphatic Resin woodworking glue when we were discussing glueing guitars together back in the mid 90's. Don't know if this is still a good idea though. Perhaps others may know.
