1. none, i'd just ask to meet up with them and tell them.
2.
What's the difference between these and the VMJ?
main difference is colours, although i think they might have slightly different neck profiles and i think the VMJ has duncan designed pups? im not sure though. check the squier site for a full spec on them. great looking bass these, i'd definatly be interested if id ever played a jazz i like lol. good luck with the sale.
3.
I'm going to go for 1 colour but to a lot of people it will look vulgar.
what colour?
4.
Haha I've already bought that and plan something very similar.
well to get it looking like that you just gotta get a load of colours that appear in puke, spray lots of layers and sand away!
5.
Wasnt there a thread about this very bass sometime back..... Someone on here had a friend or tutor (somthing like that) that bought a brand new stingray and painted it puke colours
that was me! its my old bass teacher's bass. actually a nice bass when you get over the looks. unfortunatly he decided to repaint it before deciding he didn't like it. to be fair it was a boring black with white pickguard before he resprayed it. and i got the feeling itd be this bass when i saw the thread title lol.
6.
Im sure squire was always in the thread, the bass is designed on a 1951 model , obviously not original but i thought that would be obvious.
im sure these aren't even based on the 51? they're based on the 70s telecaster basses aaren't they? the thread title is advertising the wrong bass entirely - this isn't a fender precision. its a squier vintage modified precision tb. its not based on any bass made in 1951. so squier is the only bit thats not wrong.
7. timmy c (Rage Against the Machine) - i admire his playing, but he's mostly my favourite cos of his tone. ben osmundson (zebrahead) - not the best bassist ever (far from it) but i love zebrahead and his lines have a kind of creativity to them, something a lot of players wouldn't have in that sort of band. billy sheehan - obviously.
8. 9. BUUUUMP!
10. i like the look of that jaguar shaped wesley the do with the two humbuckers but never bought one in case it wasnt very nice. i played an identical model, made by some other cheapo brand, that was very nice sounding, well built but i didnt like the neck. still, not bad for that sort of money. i think its great that you can get such well made basses for such low prices, it seems that even people on a low budget can get lovely basses these days.
11. when i first saw it i didnt like it, but its growing on me. i think that j pup needs a black pup cover rather than white and itll look great
12. Just a bit of fun really cos im bored, whats the next band youre going to see play live? That doesnt include you, or your support band, or anyone else playing at the same gig as you. Mines zebrahead at nottingham rock city tommorow. by the way, wasnt sure if this should be off topic so sorry if it should! im sure one of the mods will move it if they see necessary!
13.
Excellent look .. you are such a cool dude http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3270/295364...659960e.jpg?v=0
haha i thought exactly the same thing when i saw that picture. nice bass by the way.
14. BUMP!
15. any lefty P bass should do it. maybe a mexican P and slap in duncan quarter pounders, then you practically got a hoppus jazz but with a p body instead (after all, the hoppus jazz is just a precision with a jazz body)
16. im currently attempting to learn hit me with your rythm stick, cos my bros drum teacher has told me its the hardest bassline ever and said i cant learn it by a week on wednesday. i confidently told him i can learn anything, i think he might have proved me wrong though. finally got the intro up to speed though, just gotta learn the rest of the song!
17. i dont know how much postage is, but im betting it will cost an absolute bomb, so if you live reasonably close to nottingham i'll be willing to meet halfway (im willing to travel a couple of hours). of course, as platypus says, parcelflight are £11.75, and i think thats the cheapest it'll get.
18. thatd look great with a tort pickguard! looks great now, actually... im loving that neck.
19. ooh looks nice, and it really was a steal! good buy IMO! let us know how it sounds when you get it.
20. i love these in white! but you couldnt change the pickguard, wouldnt look right with the binding!
21.
Yep, got one of those, I'm very new to playing bass, so maybe not the one to ask, but I think it certainly looks the part, is well built and sounds lovely. Suffered a bit with buzzing at first, but after playing around with the truss rod now plays really well. As I said I'm fairly new to the bass, so can't compare it to more expensive models, but for the money I'm well pleased.
the only thing thatd make these look any nicer would be stack knobs (and i know some people would prefer a fender logo, tbh it wouldnt bother me). other than that these are one of the coolest looking basses out.
22. the rehersal room one of my bands tends to practice in has a carlsbro stingray, i absolutely love it. i'd have one if i had room, knew where i could get one, could afford one etc.
23. in mansfield town centre, under that big bridge viaduct thingy. haven't you ever been? its great there, best shop around IMO.
24.
I'm pretty sure there's one of the single coil type precisions hanging up in a shop near me, i might go and try it out tomorrow
music scene? theres one there. there was also one of the jazzes.
25.
Easy - I moved the front strap button on mine to the neck heel area - cured the neck dive 100%. A stupid design fault easily cured. No idea why they're not made with the button in the best position by default.
i think i heard somewhere that its because gibson thunderbirds are neck through? think its something to do with the shape of the heel or something and so you cant move it like you can on epi's? not 100% sure though, someone can probably say.
