It would almost be worth destroying an e-bay account just to mail him: "thjt is A squire Mike Durnt yo hav stript i have one lik it u Nzi LOLZ, Com 2 iowa i kick yore ass, Kenny bass god" and wait for the detonation.
do it
 2. haha, To make matters worse my camera has decided to end its life (perhaps he found out about the camcorder and the toasters sordid one night stand) So here are some lovely pix from my mobile!
 3.
I can be a bit anal about non-reversible mods & keeping things original, but I'm not convinced sitting in its case for 20 years is better than the above suggestion! It must be really bored.
Totally agree, If i had it I would play it every day, gig it and love it. Thats its soul

 6.
5im0n....Please correct my punctuation if it makes you feel better. Perhaps you could become my personal tutor seeing as you haven't got anything better to do with you time than to be on here telling me your life story and how I should listen to the God of gear. As for it being a slanging match....I'm a pretty tough nut to crack and can hold my own; I don't need back up from others. I thank those who have given me precise and relevant information in helping me making a choice on bass gear and am now off to play my LM11 through my Schroeder BMF1212. Maybe I'll come back later for some more of your wonderful rhetoric 5im0n....it's so much fun having you as a playmate.....Mwah
Is this a wind up? I'm really having a hard time taking it seriously. Also as this seems to have becoming a bragging thread - im off to play my MusicMan Stringray through my LM250 and 8x10 Markbass cab Gentlemen begin your showing off!
 7.
Unlike you I have not been abusive; it shows poor self control and lack of intelligence. You do not have to bother with me again; I sure won't lose any sleep over that as you are i-n-s-i-g-n--f-i-c-a-n-t in my life.
Hello pot? This is kettle, you're black
 8.
I've had loads of "I cant hear myself i the monitors" you go and talk through the mic and its BLASTING through the monitors and they go back and whisper. I suppose its just a lack of experience, it only really irritates me when that is combined with arrogance and un professional behaviour.
I hate monitors actually this is my pet peeve people who complain about them. I have had an acoustic duo with one mic complaining about monitoring when they are sitting next to each other playing quietly in a pub. I think a lot of bands dont actually know what monitors are meant to sound like. It does my head in. My new trick is once sound checks are finished to power down my tops and just talk into the mic with the monitors on same level they were in sound check. Usually the bands who were compaining look at me as if to say 'oh they are working' and walk off not mentioning it again through embaressment. But then strangely I worked with two bands recently (one now signed and playing a BIG tour and being played regular on radio one but I wont name) both of whom were balls out rock playing in tiny venues. When I asked them about monitors they said 'we dont care, we know our songs' Went on and played brilliantly. Loved them for that I really did!
 9.
I get replies that are totally irrelevant, are nothing short of sarcastic and question/criticise my reasons for wanting a rack case and you tell me I'm being rude? As a newbie, I rely on those who have expertise on equipment and then can make an informed choice. If people can't provide the information I'm asking for, why respond to my post? It's a bit unfair on me to be given to misguidance or receive comments about what I choose to have in my set up.
Do Behave. Also learn to Google.
 10.
From a front of house point of view there is nothing worse than a band turning up expecting all of their previously undisclosed requirements catered for "we must have 13 separate monitor mixes and 41 DI's" Tell me in advance and i can sort it and have you heard of sub mixing you lazy git. or "have you got any power mate"
God my teeth are grinding! Worst example I ever had working FOH was a kid who turned up to play an acoustic set in a little pub I was regulaly working. The promoter booked the most awful lineups for the venue but I was getting paid so I did it. This kid had a Stagg electro acoustic bowlback thing. Unplugged didnt sound bad at all but very quiet. I plugged him in and got 20 minutes of 'it doesn't sound right' 'make it sound more like an acoustic' Which I did but still not good enough for him. I kept trying and in the end he sort of wandered off?! So he quietens down then when he comes on to actually play he stops mid song and begins saying again it doesn't sound right he is a professional blah blah blah (what professional stops in the middle of a song or does not organise this properly in sound check?) He said again 'it doesn't sound right' SO I asked him well what do you want more hi mid or low? less hi mid low, less verb more verb WHAT DO YOU WANT! to which he replied 'I dont know the techncal terms' I couldn't believe it what musician even a beginer does not understand hi mid or low???!?!?
 11. My internet died last night I'll try to get pics up tonight!
 12. Ok here is what I have however I'm going to make a statement first. This is my personal recommendation, I am familiar with every item on this list personally and feel the quality of the overall rig is great especially in your price range. I have used thomann simply because everyone knows them and they have a good 30 day money back deal so if you ordered this exact list and tried it you can return it. Even if you dont use this exact list be aware everything on it I would call 'essential' ie even if you order something totally different I believe you would need something to fill each space. First and foremost desk and speakers! Peavey Pro 15 messenger speakers and a TMix powered desk. This is bundled together with the speakon cables and gives you 375W per side into 15" full range speakers. For this budget its nigh on impossible to get something with subs im afraid without a massive loss of overall quality to the components and to be brutally honest you dont need them for a straight vocal PA. I use 15" tops and always mic the kick and often run a bass DI in small venues and I dont bother taking my subs 15's can handle it! The desk does have 2 unpowered outs as well so the option is there to add Powered subs or passive subs with a power amp later. http://www.thomann.de/gb/peavey_pro_15_mes...erie_bundle.htm PRICE £525.33 Speaker stands 2 with a bag (I still use a set of these I had over 2 years now! quality for the money) http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_bs2211b...staenderset.htm PRICE £37.20 Mics! Drum Mics Superlux DRK A3 pack I still use these for my drum mics (a bigger pack admitedly but the same range) 3 mics; one kick 2 snare/tom Ideal for smaller gigs as a kick can be essential. snare probs wont use too much if your drummer has a nice one but always have the option http://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_drk_a3.htm PRICE £24.50 T-Bone MB75 As the name suggest this is a rather naughty SM57 copy. Rumour has it they are made using old shure machinery in China and having side by sided my one of these with a 57' I'm not sure thats just a rumour. Great for guitar cabs, random instruments you might need. I have used this on snare, guitar cabs, tambourine, brass and even as a vocal mic its just a great all rounder. http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_mb75.htm PRICE £28.13 BeyerDynamic Opus 29 (bundle) I chose the bundle version simply because you get a 6m XLR for about a quid! and an extra cable is always helpful. For my money this is the best budget mic on the market today. I have 3 of these and an SM58 which was my original mic set for vocal. The 58 invariable got left in the box, I just think these sound nicer http://www.thomann.de/gb/beyerdynamic_opus_29_s_bundle.htm PRICE £34.48 Cables +Stands! Now the boring bits that hold it all together! 10x SSNAKE SM10 Basic 10m XLR cable. Does the job and buying 10 means you should have spares (essential as the first time you gig without at least 2 spares 2 cables will break!) They come in a bunch of colours if you fancy it (I use red ones for kick and snare just to keep them in my eye) But traditional black works! http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_sssnake_sk233-10.htm PRICE £57.20 (for 10) Millenium MS 2002 low stand Short stand for kick mic (sometimes guitar cab but more often than not kick!) http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_ms2002.htm PRICE £12.61 4x Millenium MS 2005 regular stand You said you have a couple already so I put down 4, gives you 6 total which is plenty for most occasions. Tough and reliable stands http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_ms2005_mic_stand.htm PRICE £33.76 (for 4) Mic clips x4 Old fashioned rubber bits. These are strong gripping and have no moving parts like some of the budget spring ones ie they wont snap! http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_mikrohalterung.htm PRICE £10.16 (for 4) TOTAL! £763.37 OK I went over budget! But this as close to it as I can get! Of course as people have said you can always go second hand and a lot of people do, I have found some bargins on the bay and elsewhere but you dont usually have a returns policy! Some stuff I bought and wish to God I could take it back even though it was very cheap just because I'll never use it. Mic's especially and speakers are liable to be 'ragged' and with the amount of counterfeits on eBay I would be wary. Anyway thats my suggestion. I found it quite enjoyable If anyone else wants me to do something similar just drop me a PM
 13.
I have my 5 in EADGC and I absoloutly love it. Well worth a try. You could fit a high C and a D-tuner on the E. Best of both worlds.
This sounds like a good idea!
 14.
personally, i'd say if you just bought it, give it a few months, and try and use the B string wherever possible, so for instance one song i love the B string on is hit me with your rythm stick, if you play the first F in the song on fret 6 of the B string, theres hardly any moving up and down the fretboard necessary. i also hate the sound of anything below the D on the B string, but on the other hand it's useful for different, easier positions with songs you could play on a 4 string. get used to the BEADG tuning before you decide anything different IMO
Good idea, I think I'll flit between the two for a while, my experience with B's comes from playing many other 5's but never owning one so maybe some consitant use will help me make a permenant decision
 15.
ditch the 5 and get a 4
I just bought it! I think the idea of being lazy and having E and D works for me plus correct me if im wrong but playing 'in the box' i can do normally anywhere on the neck now on any string with DEADG with a low b I cant?!?
 16. Looks amazing, really GASing over it! always had a soft spot for the aerodynes and it looks simply stunning
 17. OK! This might seem like a wierd question but does anyone use DEADG on a 5 string? I dont like a low B dont find it useful in any way shape or form so I have this idea in my head to tune DEADG giving me a D for drop D songs and also I would then also be able to play octaves on the A from it which I like the idea of. If this has any big problems I'll tune it to EADGC as I would rather have a high C than a low B anyday Just wondered if anyone else does this or due to my previously mentioned lack of theory im missing something obvious to you guys!
 18. Just got it, truss rod adjustment needs doing and a few little bits but i'll get some pix up tonight!
 19. I have been playing about 8 years and embarssingly still have no grasp of theory. I would call myself a competent bassist, if someone tells me string and fret to start on I can go from there but - If someone says blues in E I just stare blankly and strangely as I have got older rather than feeling all punk rock about it and not caring about notes and boring scales I suddenly feel more ashamed! Can anyone recommend the following - A FREE website with clear basic guides of notes on the fingerboard, scales etc A cheap book or even one your willing to send on for postage costs I dont want to read music or write it or be an expert on this just want the roots of it all so when the next person says; blues in E I can do it!
 20.
Things like Jedsons & Zentas where you used to cut your fingers on the bridge adjustment screws & the fret ends & you could never set the intonation on them or keep them in tune. Now those same Jedsons & Zentas are increasing in price - madness.
+1 Its like those airline guitar. They were renowned as being poor quality garbage that they couldnt even sell Now they are worth big money!?!? Sense - this makes none! We have an old Antoria LP at home that me dad had as a boy. And its fairly poor but the stories my dad told me about the crap he could of bought instead at the time it makes me apreciate my Washburn XB120 I started on/
 21.
Er what does that mean? Why should the store need to "get away with" a bigger discount?
Nothing wrong with a discount but sometimes you feel its more that they are bored of looking at it and by marking it as 'ex demo' it alows them to go lower than others just to shift it. Please don't take offence, nothing wrong with retailers knocking a bit off but strikes me that using ex demo is not a great way of doing it And anyway my point is more about the terminology than trying to cause debate about discount culture in modern MI stores. Ill edit my first post accordingly
 22. due to hard drive brain fart may be couple more days! sorry!
 23. Should be with me by end of the day Warwick Rockbass Corvette premium 5 string lefty Wanted a 5 for a while so im quite excited to get going with it. Pix to follow!
 24. Im confused. I often see basses and guitars for sale with ex-demo or ex-display on them and a bit of a discount. Surely any instrument thats been in a store is ex demo! Maybe some of the big stores like GAK have one on the floor and a couple out back but almost every guitar ever is ex demo! at least ex display!
