Yes, Conan and later on myself had 2 of the 4x10" versions with the carpet covering - there might actually still be one for sale on the forum. This was before the tolex, black drivers and fabric grill cloth

I've owned the Genz 6.0 and several GK heads including an MB210 combo which had a variation of the MB500 in it, albeit missing a couple of features. I owned both when I had my Schroeder 1212L cab and sold the Genz to buy the GK. Personally, the GK head is far superior and it is nigh on impossible to get a bad sound out of it. It's something to do with its inherent sound and the way the EQ has been designed but I just cannot see past GK anymore. I'm still unsure about the lightweight head thing and want to see how these things are performing 10+ years from now before I give up my trusty 1001RB II. IMHO Genz isn't better than GK, its different but not better.

Still happy with my Korg DT-10 after many years. If/when it packs in I'll probably go for one of the newer models

To be Wireless or not to be Wireless...
Delberthot replied to L_Bass_Dog85's topic in Accessories and Misc
Never used my G30 at home so haven't come across that problem but I'm more than happy with my wireless system. -
Got tickets for the Glasgow show but don't know whether I like them enough to go or whether just to sell the tickets on

When I was 12 I picked up my first bass.It was a 4 string. It wasn't until I was 19 that I got my first 5 string. I played 5 and 6 string basses for the next 13 years and then about 5 years ago I went back to 4 strings. I don't miss the extra strings.I have a detuner to handle the lower stuff. I'm playing better than ever without the extra stings and I certainly don't feel that I "downgraded" In fact, all of those years of playing wide necks, especially the ironing board width of the Yamaha TRB6, anything with 4 strings feels like I'm holding a pencil.

instrument cables all snarled up, any tips?
Delberthot replied to skidder652003's topic in General Discussion
I absolutely hate cables. Coil them up neatly and the next week they're in a bigger knot than Knot McKnotley of Nottingham. Power cable, Speaker cable and wireless transmitter to bass. -
Been playing in bands for 30 yrs since i was 18, love gigging but hate driving/ getting home at 3am, just bought all the "bedroom home recording gear so may well give that a go and se how i get on
Oh man, I love the drive home after a gig. Still buzzing, driving at miles per hour. Heightens the buzz. Can't be beat

Not currently in a band and I don't practice at home so am I actually still a bassist? I do have an audtion on Tuesday but the guitarist is confident that because I played so long in a wedding/function band (17years) that I won't have to practice anything so he didn't give me any songs to learn.

Ashdown ABM410 - SOLD PENDING PAYMENT
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Despite the missing tweeter, the cab performs exactly as its supposed to. Its possibly the loudest 4x10" I've ever used with the possible exception of the Eden 410XLT but then again these cost about the same second hand as the Ashdown does new. This is a seriously loud cab for less than 450w 4x10" MAG money. Please someone buy this before I end up putting a Gallien NEO 212 II on the credit card. -
How about moving the bridge forward by 1/2" and hiding the old screw holes with a bridge cover? The earth wire should still be in contact with the bridge if its only by that amount
-
Thanks again Phil. I did contact Ashdown but they're not responded and really don't expect them to give that sort of data away. Probably get hundreds of emails from crackpots like me every day I've readvertised the cab for sale to see if someone takes it before I do this. Its such a great, loud cab that I don't want to risk making an ar$e of it.

Next one up is a pair of EMG HZ35 soapbar pickups. These were originally fitted to my Ibanez Doug Wimbish but whenever I finally get round to it I'll be refitting the original EMG P4& J4 ones. These are ace and can be used passive as I have always done or you can use an active preamp with them. They have the usual marks from use. Looking for £65 delivered for the pair of them The set set are generic EMG 35HZ copies that I bought for a project that never happened. So new that they're still in the original packaging and completely unopened. Looking for £40 delivered for these

As part of a big sell off of bits, I seem to have collected a lot of pickups I am unlikely to need. First up are the P & J pickups that came fitted to my FSR Precision. The P pickup is a standard Fender Alnico one. nigh on perfect condition. T[s]he J is one of the Fender Noiseless ones which I cannot find a mark on and is for bridge position[/s]. I'm looking for £40 posted for the P, [s]£45 posted for the J and £80 posted for the pair of them[/s] Next is a DiMarzio Will Power P as fitted to Billy Sheehan's basses. This is a monster of a Precision pickup. Hardly used but for some reason has scratches on the surface. Looking for £55 posted. [s]I also have a DiMarzio Ultra Jazz (DP148) pickup but I haven't got any pictures yet. This is in excellent condition with plenty of wire. Looking for £45 posted for this one.[/s]

I've just had a thought: If I were to recreate a cab of the exact same internal dimensions as the Ashdown ABM210 then I'd expect it to sound pretty close but as I will be bracing the cab should I take the area that the bracing will take up into consideration and make the cab slightly larger based on this? Bugger, I've just noticed that the ABM210 had a front shelf port - one of them did but there are another two versions that didn't
-
I enjoy the planning of things like this and don't expect to spend any more than about £40. I've already sourced enough ply to do me for £20 and I plan on using as much of the hardware off the cab as possible. I'm only going to need more wood glue, t-nuts to mount the speakers, a speakon socket, some dowel to brace it and speaker grill material. I'm not sure whether to tolex it or use some kind of textured paint
-
I've emailed Ashdown to see if they're willing to give up the speaker specs I'm giving serious thought to building a vertical 2x10" airhead cab to give me a combo with a view to maybe purchasing an amp that will do 2 ohms and building a second cab using the other two drivers just for the hell of it. Maybe even get one of those Peavey IPR power amps and a preamp
