1. Is there an isolated bass version on Youtube? That's how I learned Won't Get Fooled Again for the rock band

4. I can't even tell if its an actual Fender from the pics. The headstock and decal look very new
5.
Yep, I've got three MM-necked basses, and they're very very good for the money. I've had them fret-dressed, and they play and feel as good as anything Fender. The Warmoth neck I've got on the Explorer is indeed chunky-P in profile (there's a Slim Taper option, tho), but also top quality. I'd love to try a full-wenge J-neck, or go bananas with a full birdseye maple one. I'm over in the States for three weeks at Easter, so I might even order one to be delivered over there and bring it back myself.
The wenge necks are great to play, plus if they become sticky or dirty from use you just run the steel wool down it a couple of times and its good as new. The standard maple neck I ordered had a lot of birdseye figuring in it Never had the option of the thinner neck when I got mine but if/when I order another then I 'll definitely go with this option All of their stuff is top top quality
6. I love the EMG 35HZ pickups. I put them in my Ibanez Doug Wimbish and favour them over the stock EMG P4 & J4 pickups that were originally in it. The one nearest the neck can get some nice thick, clear bass and the one nearest the bridge can get nice and honky but not nasal like a normal Jazz pickup.
7.
Very true. The idea was to make them mix and match-able. Not produce the finest instruments in the world. If you want the iconic image and sound then who cares about a few gaps here and there?
I thought the idea behind the bolt on neck was to be able to change the neck when the frets wore out? I'm not disputing what you are saying, in was likely both plus the fact that Fender have been since day 1 all about building instruments as cheaply as they could - cheapest woods at the time, repainting bodies to match orders etc My MIM Fender is nigh on perfect. Personally, the way I see it is that the main difference between MIM & MIA is that MIA Fenders are made in America by Mexicans using American parts, MIM Fenders are made in Mexico by Mexicans using American parts.
8. I remember when I was 17calling the leader of a big band about the role of bass player as their one was leaving. He asked me if I could read music and I told him I could. When I turned up at the rehearsal I was met with my double bass tutor who it turns out was their current bass player and the one I was replacing - Ooops. He knew that I couldn't read very well. Anyway I bluffed it enough to get the gig and taught myself to read music properly. Played with them for 18 months as well as a spin-off band which was a Dixieland Jazz band. I learned so much from these guys who'd all been playing for years, some were inthe 70s and had some amazing stories to tell
9.
I've always said if I play and a gig and don't make the odd mistake I'm not trying hard enough never been one for learning bass lines note for note but like to react to what is going on around me and compliment where I can, echoing a cool guitar lick or drum fill when I know where they're going. By the time I realise I've hit a duff note I'm already past it so grin like a cheshire cat and carry on!
We're not related are we? Cos that's exactly my philosophy.
10. I've learned a lot gear wise but not really playing wise as I don't practice at home unless its to learn a new song. I've had a lot of good times and a lot of laughs on here but I think the biggest recent thing for me was seeing the thread on the Precision Bass FSR which prompted me try one out and buy it
11. If you click on my sig you'll see pics of mine. Yeah lots of stuff on Tallkbs, these are rumoured to have the first run of the necks for the Geddy Lee Jazz. A very well made bass and great to play
12. The whole reason I use Herco Heavy guage picks is because they are rougher and don't slip about between my fingers
13. Bought this for a project that's long gone so no longer required Its a set of 4 individual chrome bridges and comes with fitting screws Looking for £15 posted for these to mainland uk
14. You need to state a price otherwise your thread could be removed. Pictures and a location for this fine cab would be useful as well
15.
I play my fretless as I play my fretted bass. No cheesy slides or vibrato. I love the way it plays and the feel. If you came to a gig and closed your eyes you'd be pushed to tell it was a fretless you were hearing most of the time
Same here - I just think that an unlined fretless looks really cool. I've been thinking for a while about getting another one
16. I can't bear loud noise anymore. I even wear my earplugs when I go to the cinema cos its so loud, never mind gigs and concerts. I've even found myself putting them in when I'm in the pub, even without music or a band on. But back to the OP, you must do everything you can to avoid making things worse. I think I caught mine in time. Whenever I practice at home I use a guitar combo as I can practice at a decent level without all the rumblings going through to next door. My music comes through my surround system. I could link it into the aux in of the combo and use headphones but I abhor cables anywhere near me, that'swhy I use a wireless system when I gig
17. I fitted one of these last night to my Precision and noticed that the foam in the box is much softer than what was underneath the pickup that I removed so I cut the foam twice as thick to compensate. There's plenty in the box to experiment getting the right amount under the pickup
18. Ok but my hand and forearm are prefectly straight when I am playing so I'm trying to work out what is wrong with that. I'm not trying to start an argument/debate/bludgeoning, I'm just really curious. The wrist bands provide the cushioning so that my tendons and whatnot are not being pressed against the bass, cutting off the blood and stuff. T-Rex arms. I know exactly what you mean but never pictured it like that
19. you need a big bag of weed and some microwave burritos to get that sound

21.
I'm trying to think how your wrist touches anything when playing.
Think harder then Mine does and always has done - is there some reason why my right wrist shouldn't touch my bass?
22. I've often found as well that pictures uploaded directly to the site in the past have been very small whereas with something like photobucket they can be really huge if needs be. Another advantage is that if you want to post any of your pictures in the future, they're already there, you just need to copy the link and if you want to sell your item on Egay then there's link code for that as well without having to pay for more pictures using gallery on Egay
