Has anyone ever added a musicman pickup to a single coil p bass?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Bass Guitars
It does look good. i think I may pick a quiet time gig-wise and get the work done -
everyone poop on the singer's mic- I mean air poop, not stool Open up the back of the guitarist's guitar and put blocks of wood in to stop the whammy from working and wait until the next solo. Everyone play a song in a different key to the person that you're trying to annoy. hide a piece of smelly cheese in the back of the guitarist's amp.

You could try this website: http://www.12stringbass.net/ there was an 8 string version of the site but it used to be a bit temperamental. Hamer used to do a lot of 30" 12 strings but seem to have stopped - maybe try looking for their strings, or failing that, D'addario make strings for Hamer so may make what you are looking for.

I linked to one in the 'show us your mandolin' threads. Really cool
I got my 1212L (new) in June 2008 as well. I guess mine uses the newer drivers though as this is what mine look like. There doesnt seem to be any markings anywhere on them though. Just after i got mine one of the speakers started making a rasping noise so i got a replacement one. This too was the same type. Im hoping i can fix this and put it in to a small 1x12 box, just for quiet use at work.
Looks like you have the Celestion drivers in your then. http://professional.celestion.com/bass/pdf/BN12-300S8.pdf I wonder how different your cab will sound to mine? Some of the specs are very different http://www.eminence.com/proaudio_speaker_d...mp;SUB_CAT_ID=3

Anybody used the Rotosound Nexus strings yet ?
Delberthot replied to markdavid's topic in Accessories and Misc
I remember using their Spacer strings about 16 years ago. They were black coated and after a short time, all the coating would come off making them look dreadful. They also had the coloured silks -
I'm surprised I hadn't put any pictures in before now. Here's my gold Warmoth '54 Single coil P bass. It has a mahogany body, wenge neck & ebony fretboard. Gold Schaller machineheads, Gotoh 201 gold bridge, gold frets, gold Schaller straplocks, SD quarter pounder, CTS 500k pots and paper in oil cap. And normally gold Optima strings, although the Rotosounds on it just noe are beginning to grow on me. Body is finished in the sparkliest of gold finishes. Like with any custom bass, I took a big risk since if it failed to deliver, it would be worth 3 pound peanut. I have to say that it is without a doubt, the best bass I have ever played ever. Although I didn't make the body or neck, I did put it all together and set it all up to my liking.

I've had it since June 2008. I think it is what you call a Mk II model. If I was to, say, build my own version of this - would a 3012 perform better in the same sized cab?
-
They certainly are. Doesn't really matter what it says on the back, as long as it is loud enough for me without farting, which this is.
-
Your right, it looks exactly like one of those. http://www.eminence.com/pdf/deltaliteII2512.pdf One thing I can't work out though is that my cab is quoted as being 800w - but these are 250w drivers.

I think you can use anything. I normally use the sponge that comes with new pickups in the packaging. You may not want to use a yellow sponge for obvious reasons. I suppose anything dark would do.

I finally got round to opening up the back of my 1212L to find out what drivers were concealed inside. At first glance there's hee haw except 8ohms written on each driver then I saw a Schroeder sticker but that's it. One thing I thought was that these are the first speakers I have seen with screw in terminals. I haven't seen Eminence or Celestions with this. Can anyone identify what the make and model of these drivers is. There's a shiny penny for the winner* *Penny may be substituted for a weekend for two in February.

Something I've been thinking about for a while now but I can't find any pictures to see what it will look like when done. I've still to finalise how I'm going to wire up the electronics but more importantly to me just now is how it will look. I'm incredibly shallow when it comes to basses. Definitely looks first. I wasn't sure where to put this as its not necessarily a pickup question, just a request to see if anyone has a picture of a single coil P bass with a musicman pickup as well. Anyway, here's the bass in question: I would've been really cool if I could've hid it by making it metallic gold but other than fablon, I can't think of anything to cover a pickup with that wouldn't affect its performance - but that's a pickup question and I'll save that for if/when I decide to go for it or not.

How can I identify the daqte of my Stingray?
Delberthot replied to Huggy and the Bears's topic in Bass Guitars
Beaten by a few minutes but definitely there. Lots of really interesting information and pics as well. -
Don't joke- some Jack Danny had done that to the Tele bass that I sold to Beedster before I got it.

If you can't live without the shape of the Curbow then I would say change the gubbins. Otherwise. There may be something out there more suited to what you're after.

Mandolins - show us yer mini axes!
Delberthot replied to Born 2B Mild's topic in Accessories and Misc
Don't have one but always fancied one of the Mandobirds Very folk 'n roll -
my amplifier just has one great big f**k-off watt in it. ^_^ equivalent to 250 normal watts of course. Back on topic, it seems like Epifani have created a solution for people who only know enough about electronics to not know what they're doing. My guess is, it will be very popular in America. I wonder what their next "innovation" will be? A [s]VU[/s] "power usage" meter built into the cab?
I bet they're weeing themselves over on Talkbs
I do remember one poster who claimed his watts were louder than everyone else's.
What? WoT's watts? I thank you

This is how I have mine when I use it as a monitor When I use it for my out front sound,I just anglethe stand slightly higher than vertical This is from the end of last year before I sold the GK and bought the Shuttle. I have the Shuttle bolted to a bracket below the cab but haven't got round to taking any pics yet

That's exactly what I was going to get Martin Sims to do with the 2 tone '51 reissue that i had before i decided to go down the Warmoth route. Except mine would've been Daphne Blue nitro - don't know I ended up going with gold.
-
Looks almost brand new - I wonder what the 4 offers were? Wouldn't catch me with a gold sparkly bass. You'd have to be a show-off to own one of those

Anyone played at P J Molloys in Dunfermline?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in General Discussion
Cool. thanks for that. I'll probably just take my own gear as well. Its taken me long enought to get my sound without fiddling with something I've never tried before. Plus, if its an SVT III then its only solid state - an SVT II May have been another story. I'll let my guitarist know about the Marshalls although he'll probably still want to take his Peavey 5150 combo.
