I've just managed to get myself a GK Neo 700/112 combo which is a 700RB II & Neo 1x12" put together. I found it on Ebay with a minute to go so had to make a fast decision but I got it so cheap that if its rubbish I could take the amp out and use it with my Schroeder cab and still be quids in. I'd probably get a matching Neo 112 cab for larger gigs but the combo should be fine for smaller stuff. That would mean selling ther Schroeder as its redundant now. I was wondering what other people thought of theirs while I am waiting for mine to come?

Squier Modified Vintage fretless Jazz Bass

Ok I am now ampless and I'd like to have as much money as I can get together to pay for my next one so I'm now going to offer this up for delivery. It'll probably be about £15 but I'll get an exact figure later on. I need to get a hold of a box to put it in but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. -

I've been on the pies recently and find myself playing more in the 'BB King' position with the bass round the side.

My favourite string changes with the weather but currently I am abusing dead Rotosound SS strings as they give me the best tone. I did have a set of £35 Optima gold strings and then a set of Hartkes but have gone back to the prveious set that I last used in February

There's probably 10 or 20 other members reading this thread right now cos everyone has stories about their own journey to finding their ideal bass. Personally, I was heavily into the Red Hot Chili Peppers - right down to having the black Stingray 5 string (same colour used on Funky Monks), Gallien Krueger 800RB and the DOD Envelope filter. After one particularly loud gig I sold the lot and embarked on an oddesy to find my ideal bass which covered every letter of the alphabet to include some of the best and worst basses in the entire globe. After 50 basses I had Warmoth build me something and this bass has been the bass that I always use ever since. Other basses have come and gone but the gold one remains - I have never ever thought about selling it. I am a very aggressive player, I've always used 45 gauge strings, I have no intention of ever playing with a lighter touch so I have a particular bass set up with quite a high action and a very specific set of strings to allow me to play exactly how I want. This has taken so long to type but the actual journey took about 19 months to go through all these basses to find the best and worst of them to get to my perfect bass

Looking forward to it although I'm surprised I'm the only one north of the border interested. It must be true what they say about Scotsmen being mean - c'mon I'll deliver it to you for the cost of petrol

I've decided that I'm just not getting 'my sound' from my Shuttle and that sound comes only from Gallien Krueger so I'm looking to do a bit of trading to get myself another GK head. The trades I have in mind are based on the current prices on the Bassmerchant website. I am looking for a 700RB II as a swap with some cash my way, a straight swap for a 1001RB II and if you also fancy a fretless I am looking to trade my Shuttle and my Squier VM Fretless (with TI flats) for a 2001RB. The shuttle is in excellent condition and has been stored in a laptop bag since day 1 when it is not being used. This is included and comes complete with shoulder strap and pockets for leads and stuff. The Shuttle has the original ruby tube as I haven't felt the need to mess about with it. I've used the flash when taking pictures of the amp to show you the scratches on the side from mounting it to the bracket I made for it on my cab stand. They really are pretty much unnoticable normally and the pics make them look ten times worse than what they really are. The Boss pedal and lighting controller in the first couple of pics are not included but give you an idea of the space in the bag for other stuff Anyone who knows me knows that I always keep my gear in great condition and it is never abused and I would like the same from anything that I trade this for. I really like the Shuttle cos it is just so powerful and light but it just can't give me the sound that I am looking for. Pics of the bass if you have a 2001RB:- I'm looking for £460 for the amp delivered and £160 for the bass but that would have to be collection only as I don't have anything to pack it in. Preferrable payment would be cash/cheque and then Paypal but I would have to add the charges onto the price -
I really enjoy having my Shuttle 6 / Schroeder 1212L combination but being perfectly honest, I would prefer to have my GK 700RB II back. It is a compromise that i make to save my back. Probably the most powerful, deepest rig I ever had was my Trace 7210 2x10" combo with a 1048H 4x10" but the weight of it all, plus the band getting a full PA system meant getting something smaller. I then bought a GK 800RB which was a fantastic amp and i sold it in a fit of stupidity after a really loud gig using a Trace 1153 cab that i just couldn't hear myself. Come to think about it, i sold everything and started again. If I could have any rig, without weight being a consideration, it would be a GK head with either a 1084H or 1524 Trace cab but having something that i can lift easily outweighs the weight and bulk of a big rig. It took me a long time to get a good sound through the Shuttle. The GK was run completely flat with the boost quite high and it never deviated from that point ever whereas, like you, I find myself having to adjust my sound at most gigs even though I'm using the same cab as I used with the GK head. I may very well be selling the shuttle after tonight's gig and getting either another 700 RB II or a 1001.

I'm running my Shuttle 6 with a Schroeder 1212L. I would like to have went for one of the combos but I don't have access to one to try and fear it would not give enough volume when using it as a monitor. I run the preamp and gain almost full on as I like the slightly dirty sound it gives with the output volume round about 9 o'clock. Everything else almost at 12 o'clock.

I've had a set of TIs on my Squier fretless and the tension is perfect as I dig in really hard. Lots of punchy bass and thud. Conversely, when i put them on my Warmoth it was elastic band city all night.
-
Is that because the low frequency waves were so loud that they managed to do something to your brain to make you forget about the previous bands and you just couldn't hear anything afterwards?
-
Well that's a shame cos I've just put the original neck back on again. I'm going to give it a go using the gold one and the Squier fretless. Maybe see if i can get a hold of a decent A/B box. Still liking the double neck stick bass though so may keep a look out for one that someone's maybe found beside Shergar, Lord Lucan and Robert Maxwell.

Perfect - I could iron 2 things at once with that

Does it come with a case?
