1. I think he has his go-to Carl Thompson basses that he records with, and gets new ones just for touring in case they get nicked or broken or something.
2. Indeedy! I wonder what the actual value of it is. Also, what the hell is it!
3. From the one and only Les Claypool. For a great cause and all, but wow... what a price it's already at! Hmm! 4. How has this bass not sold!! Damn...
5. Damnit, why can't there be an intelligent Hipshot d-tuner? One that can read setlists and adjust itself accordingly!
6.
HA I see now.. I by no means claim to be as accomplished as the fabulous Mr Pratt but I have a very similar right hand action....though my thumb moves up and down the strings more often when I play the higher strings......It was just the way that occurred naturally when I started playing.
Me too, on both accounts! I've got a similar hand position with not much floating thumb going on apart from higher strings as well. To compensate for my lack of ability, I used to jump around like some kind of special case on stage so had to use my thumb to anchor my bass a bit. I could then at least carry on playing when I landed without completely messing up.
7. Got to love P-Nut's little slappy bit in Come Original.
8. Recently I started playing in a band with drop D tuning, I'm really not used to this. I bought a d-tuner to avoid any forgetful tuning incidents. The main issue I find is whilst playing I kind of default to standard tuning in my head and add in fills a whole tone out from everyone else. If I can't hear myself in drop D, I'm screwed!

Ahh awesome, thanks for the link! That'll keep me busy at work this afternoon! It's a shame there aren't any more dates than that, but I'm hoping it will mean they'll start gigging more regularly. And after the live album comes out, maybe the promise of some new studio stuff!

I totally agree, I think they really should have been one of the biggest bands to come out of that era. I met them a few times as well, great lads. I've still got my signed copy of Mexican Wave somewhere from when they did the promotional tour in loads of record stores. I had to skive college to see them.
11. I love this band. I remember the first time I heard them, I think it was something like 1994 a while before On The Turn came out, thinking they were pretty freaking awesome. But when that second album came out, it had a huge influence on me and some of the songs I played in bands. None of them are particularly exceptional in their playing (I like this fact) but the songs are truly great and in the mid 90s they were a breath of fresh air. It's so awesome they're back together, full original line up and making a proper effort again! They touring in November! Win!! I'll be taking a trip down to Southampton for it, can't wait to see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aBsOybMMcE
12. Argh, it's a shame it's the 24th you're playing South Parks. I live just down the road from there but I'm away then!
13. One of my faves used to be The Stealer by Free. Not difficult but it's an awesome track and fun to play. Black and Blue by Whitesnake! Burn by Deep Purple! Aww yeaaahhh!
14. Ahh... Paz... Who didn't fancy her. I saw her with A Perfect Circle and she popped out of her top, making a everyone that saw it very happy. Plus, she's awesome.
15.
Can't slap? Won't slap!
Amen to that. I always used to get frustrated about my playing. I'm not the best bassist ever, never will be. No one is perfect though, some dude from a band we play with may rip it up on stage, but may be rubbish at something else I'm good at. I always think that way now, makes me feel a bit better about my playing! Widdllyy wiiddllyyy widdddllleeeaaahhhh!!! Can't groove.
16. Awesome, that's what I was hoping to hear! I'm very tempted, the only swaying factor will be my impending MOT... If my car wins, I'll have the funds!!
17. Hi, maybe this is a daft question, but how does it sound when it's played acoustically? Does it have much volume to it?
18. Damnit, I only just saw this! If I had seen this a couple of months back I'd have taken this straight off you! Damnit! Can't now, just bought a new car!
19. Argh, too many nice basses on here! Damnit, this bass is amazing!
20. Every time I see this thread, a small part of me dies. Damn, that's a fine bass and I REALLY wish I would scrape together that kind of money.
21. Bought a wah from me, payment sorted in no time and everything went smoothly. Grand stuff.
22. Dayum! I'm not a big fan of Precisions, but that really is a beauty!
